The NHL is working to get the realignment issue sorted out in time for the 2013-14 campaign.
"I'm under the belief that we are very, very close to getting it settled for next year," Wild owner Craig Leipold said. The Wild are hoping that the new alignment will, among other things, cut down on their travel times. Their current division rivals - Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Colorado - are all far away from the Wild's home. Under the NHL's original realignment plan, which was later pulled last year when the NHLPA voiced concerns, the Wild would have played in the same division as Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Nashville, St. Louis and Winnipeg.
