Jack Hillen (upper body) is feeling better but has not been cleared for contact.

Hillen traveled with the Capitals to New York for Sunday's game against the Rangers but hasn't played since being hurt in the team's season opener on Jan. 19. If Hillen still hasn't been cleared for contact, it'll likely be another week at least before he's cleared to play.

The Chicago Blackhawks will start Scott Darling instead of Corey Crawford for Game 3 against the Nashville Predators.

Many believe that it was a mistake for Joel Quenneville to go with Crawford over Darling in Game 2's 6-2 loss, especially after Darling's perfect relief appearance. Every playoff game probably qualifies for the biggest of the young goalie's career at this point.

Grim news for the Nashville Predators: Shea Weber (leg) isn't traveling with the team to face the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 3 (and likely beyond).

With an update coming on Wednesday, it certainly doesn't sound like he'll be back anytime soon. The Predators are probably one of the teams most equipped to handle Weber's injury, but it's obviously a huge blow to Nashville anyway.
Apr 18 - 2:30 PM

The Pittsburgh Penguins will remain without Christian Ehrhoff as they try to tie their playoff series with the New York Rangers in Game 2.

Ehrhoff, 32, has been sidelined since March 24 with an upper-body injury. Really, his season hasn't really ever taken off with the Penguins thanks in large part to various ailments. Pittsburgh would gladly welcome him back if he can get into this series, though.
Apr 18 - 2:04 PM

Jakub Voracek will play for the Czech Republic at the upcoming World Championships.

He will get to play with his idol and fellow countryman Jaromir Jagr in front of a home crowd as the Worlds will take place in the Czech Republic. Voracek finished the season tied for fourth in NHL scoring with 81 points and while he was satisfied with his season personally, he stated that he has only done it once. "It’s been a long season," Voracek said. "If I do it next year, maybe I can admit that I belong there [in that club]. Right now, I had one good season. It doesn’t end for me. Nothing changes. I will work hard this summer."

Los Angeles Kings center Jarret Stoll has been arrested in Las Vegas for possession of cocaine.

TSN.ca is reporting that the Las Vegas police department confirmed the arrest to the CBS affiliate in Las Vegas. Stoll is expected to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 and this will certainly put a damper on his attempt to sign back with the Kings or with a new NHL team. Stay tuned.

Alex Galchenyuk scored the overtime winner in Friday's 3-2 win over Ottawa.

The Canadiens failed to close the game out in the final minutes of the third period, but end up with the win regardless. Max Pacioretty tied the game at one in the second period, while P.K. Subban gave Montreal a 2-1 lead later on in the period. Senators goalie Andrew Hammond will likely want Galchenyuk's goal back. Montreal now has a commanding 2-0 lead in the series. Game three will take place in Ottawa on Sunday night.
Apr 17 - 10:12 PM

Nicklas Backstrom had one goal and two assists in Washington's 4-3 game two win over the New York Islanders.

The Capitals found themselves down 2-0 and 3-1 in the game, but they managed to claw their way back into the series with a big win on home ice. Backstrom picked up assists on second period goals by Karl Alzner and Alex Ovechkin. He scored the game-tying goal at the 3:44 mark of the third period before Jason Chimera completed the comeback later on in the final frame. The series now heads to Long Island tied 1-1. Game three will be played at 12:00 PM EST on Sunday afternoon.
Apr 17 - 9:52 PM

Max Pacioretty will indeed play in Game Two on Friday night against the Ottawa Senators.

And with that, the Montreal Canadiens have their top scorer back in the lineup. Pacioretty has five goals and 11 points in 21 career playoff games, however he's gone pointless in four games and 13 shots in the playoffs versus Ottawa.
Apr 17 - 6:53 PM

It's official, Philipp Grubauer will tag in for the sick Braden Holtby in Friday's Game Two against the New York Islanders.

Tough news for the Capitals who trail in the series 1-0. But it is what it is, and Grubauer has played well for AHL Hershey this season. He's posted a 27-17-5 record with a .921 save percentage and a 2.30 GAA in 49 games. This will be his first career NHL playoff game as well.
Apr 17 - 6:27 PM

Kevin Bieksa is a game-time decision for Game 2 on Friday.

Bieksa is apparently dealing with an illness rather than an injury. The odds are in favor of him being in the lineup. If he can't play though then Ryan Stanton will likely draw in after serving as a healthy scratch in Game 1.
Apr 17 - 4:10 PM

Mark Stone (wrist) will be a game-time decision on Friday.

Stone suffered a microfracture as a result of a slash from P.K. Subban. Stone was on the ice Friday morning to fire some pucks and practice his stickhandling, but he skated off after less than 10 minutes. He had 26 goals and 64 points in 80 regular season contests.
