David Booth (groin) will make his return to the lineup Tuesday night and skate on the fourth line.

Booth has been sidelined since the first day of training camp. He'll start tonight's game on the fourth line, but it probably won't be long before he moves up to play on more of a scoring line.

Theres' a good chance Roberto Luongo will be Team Toews' starting goaltender in Sunday's All-Star game.

The New York Rangers' senior Vice President of Public Relations and Player Recruitment John Rosasco tweeted a photo of Team Toews' depth chart and it had Luongo on top. If we go by that list, Corey Crawford will play the second period, while Jaroslav Halak will get the call in the third frame.

Michael Arace of the Columbus Dispatch reports that Sergei Bobrovsky will miss at least a month of action with a groin injury.

Bobrovsky was all set to play in net in the All-Star game which is being played in Columbus, so that was a big blow as well. He had flown in his father from Siberia to watch the All-Star festivities, only to pick up the injury to the right side of his groin. "It is sad, really sad," Bobrovsky said with a wilting voice. "I wanted to play in front of my fans, with my teammates (Ryan Johansen and Foligno). It’s the first time (as an) All-Star for me. It was the first time for my city. It was so special, and I am so disappointed right now."

Tyler Johnson (lower body) will not play in Sunday’s All-Star Game, according to ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun.

Unlike players who dropped out last-minute because of injuries and never came to the event, Johnson will be eligible to play in the Lightning’s first game after the break because he is in Columbus. Tampa Bay visits the Hurricanes on Jan. 27. Johnson has 17 goals and 48 points this season. It’s unclear if the NHL will allow rookie Mike Hoffman to participate in the game so that Team Toews fields a complete lineup.

The NHL is testing player- and puck-tracking technology during All-Star weekend.

This technology could revolutionize data collection -- and how fans view the game on TV -- as it will be able to track where the players/puck are on the ice, the speed both are traveling, the trajectory of the puck and players' ice time. The league is partnering with Sportvision to insert tracking chips inside pucks and the back of players’ jerseys. Saturday night these devices interacted with 10 infrared cameras throughout Nationwide Arena, and the NHL will expand on it Sunday. From commissioner Gary Bettman: "This is, if I can coin a phrase, in the embryonic stages of a work in progress, but ultimately we are hoping to deliver the kind of data that will create insights and tell stories that avid and casual hockey fans will enjoy. In short, we are attempting to embark upon a journey that hopefully will enable us to create and then maintain a digital record of everything in our game and compile a complete digital history."

Oliver Ekman-Larsson helped Team Foligno seal their 25-19 win in the NHL All-Star skills competition over Team Toews with two goals in the shootout event.

OEL, who beat Roberto Luongo on both goals, also showed off his slick stick handling during the skills challenge relay, deftly controlling the puck through a serious of pucks set in a line. One of the highlights of this one was Luongo’s sprawling save on on a dangle from Jiri Sekac. Team Foligno's win was never in doubt in this one, but the real thing comes Sunday. The All-Star Game will be held at 5 p.m ET.
Jan 24 - 9:30 PM

Shea Weber’s 108.5 mph shot in the NHL's hardest shot event in the NHL All-Star skills competition salvaged two points for Team Toews.

Per the NHL’s public relations department: Weber’s blast was 0.3 seconds off Zdeno Chara’s record shot from the 2012 event. Suffice to say, opponents will not be eager to get in the way of that puck when he launches it from the point. Team Foligno took three of five points in this event as their three shooters — Alex Ovechkin, Brent Burns, and Steven Stamkos all won their individual matchups. Team Foligno leads 15-4.

Patrick Kane won the accuracy shooting event at the NHL All-Star skills competition.

Kane, a member of Team Foligno, hit all four targets in 13.529 seconds to help his squad earn the extra bonus point for the fastest time. Team Foligno earned four of five possible points in this one. Team Toews’ Ryan Getzlaf defeated Bobby Ryan, while Team Foligno took home the rest: Nick Foligno beat Patrice Bergeron, Radim Vrbata topped John Tavares and Kane edged out Jonathan Toews. Jan 24 - 7:39 PM

Johnny Gaudreau will play in the NHL All-Star Game on Sunday.

There were initially some reports that he was included as an injury replacement for Sidney Crosby, then he was out, but he’s officially in now, which makes sense because Team Toews would’ve been playing the game a man short. Gaudreau is also participating in the breakaway challenge during the skills competition on Saturday. Gaudreau has 13 goals and 35 points this season.

While the dropping Canadian dollar could still conceivably alter things even more, Gary Bettman said that he doesn't expect the situation to be as dire as some anticipate.

Bettman expects the cap to fall somewhere in the $72 million range ($71.7 million to $73 million). This is good news for GM's and could help spur movement at the trade deadline.
