Matt Beleskey has been placed on waivers by the Boston Bruins.

Beleskey has frequently been a healthy scratch this season, so the news isn't terribly surprising. Even still, it does highlight how bad his five-year, $18 million contract has been. That deal doesn't expire until 2019-20, so unless the Bruins are able to unload him, he might be bought out this summer.
Dec 14 - 12:05 PM

Chris Neil has announced his retirement.

Neil is bringing an end to an NHL career that spanned 1,026 games, all of them with the Ottawa Senators. He was originally taken by Ottawa in the sixth round of the 1998 NHL Entry and made his debut with the Senators in 2001. By the end of his career, he had accumulated 112 goals, 250 points, and 2,522 penalty minutes. "Chris Neil exemplifies the best qualities of both our city and the Senators franchise," said Senators owner Eugene Melnyk. "His career personified grit, drive and resilience; there was never a day that he was not there for his teammates. Chris earned everything he achieved in the league through his hard work and dedication to the game and he will go down in history as one of the great character players to ever wear the Senators jersey."

Devan Dubnyk is listed as week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

Dubnyk was injured on Tuesday and the outlook does not appears to be good for Minnesota's top netminder. Alex Stalock will get a chance to carry the load in Dubnyk's absence.
Dec 14 - 11:02 AM

Matt Murray (lower body) will likely start for the Penguins on Thursday.

It would be Murray's first start since Nov. 27. He's already been activated off the injured reserve list.
Dec 14 - 11:01 AM

Cam Talbot (upper body) is hoping to return to the Oilers' lineup in less than a week.

Talbot has to balance that desire with the knowledge that he risks reinjury if he pushing himself too far, too fast. "I want to be back and they want me to be back and play, but at the same time, if I aggravate it or something like that then I’m out for an extended period again," Talbot said. "We’re just trying to find that fine line. Maybe I’m not 100 per cent when I come back, maybe it’s 95, but as long as there is no risk of aggravating it I’ll be ready to go." He participated in the morning skate on Tuesday and felt good.
Dec 14 - 10:04 AM

Brad Marchand scored the game-winning goal in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Marchand beat Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard with a gorgeous backhand just 35 seconds into the extra frame. The Bruins forward also registered an assist on David Pastrnak's game-tying goal with under two minutes remaining in regulation. Marchand is now riding a six-game point streak (he has 10 points during that stretch). He's up to 12 goals and 25 points in 20 games this season. He's a must-start in all fantasy formats.
Dec 13 - 11:50 PM

Kari Lehtonen allowed two goals on 34 shots in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the New York Islanders.

Tonight's start allowed Lehtonen to pass Miikka Kiprusoff for most games played by a Finnish goaltender with 624. The Stars netminder reached another milestone tonight, as he came away with the 300th victory of his NHL career. Lehtonen has now won two games in a row and three of his last four. He's also given up two goals or less in each of his last five outings. He has a 5-4-1 record with a 2.44 goals-against-average and a .913 save percentage this season.
Dec 13 - 11:33 PM

Anders Lee scored a pair of goals in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Dallas Stars.

The Islanders were trailing 4-0 in the third period when Lee scored two goals in just over 15 minutes. Unfortunately for the Islanders, that's as close as they'd come to tying the game. Lee is putting together an incredible season so far, as he's already scored 19 goals and 32 points in 31 games. He's currently on pace to hit the 50-goal mark for the first time in his career.
Dec 13 - 11:16 PM

Jamie Benn scored a goal and two assists in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the New York Islanders.

Benn picked up assists on both of Tyler Pitlick's goals. He also added a tally of his own in the second period to give the Stars a 4-0 lead at the time. Benn finished the game with a plus-3 rating, one shot on goal and three hits in 17:33 of ice time. The Stars forward now has eight points in his last seven contests. He's up to 13 goals and 29 points in 32 games this season.
Dec 13 - 11:09 PM

Bobby Ryan scored a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the New York Rangers.

Ryan opened the scoring at the 4:01 mark of the first period before helping set up Cody Ceci's second-period goal that gave the Sens a 2-1 advantage. He finished the night with a plus-1 rating and two shots on goal in 16:19 of ice time. Ryan now has two goals and 11 points in 22 games this season.
