Lubomir Visnovsky is away from the New York Islanders and won't play Tuesday night due to personal reasons.

According to Isles beat writer Arthur Staple, Visnovsky has returned home to Slovakia to deal with a "family tragedy." However, Staple says the matter has nothing to do with the health of his son, who had surgery in early February and was part of the reason Visnovsky was delayed in returning to the NHL. Staple reports Visnovsky is expected to return by the weekend, which means he'll miss at least two games.

Brian Boyle scored two goals and an assist in Friday's 5-2 win over the Dallas Stars.

Boyle's power play goal at the 16:39 mark of the second period gave the Devils a 3-2 lead at the time. He then registered a helper on Nick Lappin's third-period goal before scoring his second of the game into an empty-net. The veteran finished the game with a plus-2 rating, three shots on goal and one hit in 15:10 of ice time. Boyle now has eight goals and three assists in 22 games this season. The fact that he's accomplished this after battling cancer earlier this season is pretty remarkable. Steven Santini and Blake Coleman also scored for the Devils in this one.
Dec 15 - 10:13 PM

Marian Gaborik found the back of the net in Friday's 4-2 loss to the New York Rangers.

Gaborik entered the Rangers zone on a two-on-one with teammate Jussi Jokinen, but he decided to shoot the puck on goal. The shot ended up beating Henrik Lundqvist between the legs (it was a goal Lundqvist will definitely want to have back). Gaborik's tally tied the game at one, but the Rangers managed to come away with the win anyway. He also registered the primary assist on Torrey Mitchell's goal in the second frame. The Kings winger reached an important milestone tonight, as he played in his 1000th NHL game. Gaborik has five goals and three assists in 11 games this season.
Dec 15 - 9:49 PM

Rick Nash scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings.

With under 3:30 remaining in regulation, Nash stole the puck in the neutral zone, entered the Kings zone before beating Kings netminder Jonathan Quick to give New York a 3-2 lead. He's now found the back of the net twice in his last three games. The 33-year-old has nine goals and 17 points in 32 games this season. Chris Kreider, Kevin Hayes and J.T. Miller also found the back of the net for the Rangers in the victory.
Dec 15 - 9:43 PM

Cam Talbot (upper body) has been taken off the injured reserve list.

Now that Talbot's healthy, Edmonton plans to use him on Saturday versus Minnesota. It will be his first game since Nov. 28.
Dec 15 - 1:34 PM

Mika Zibanejad (concussion) has been ruled out for Friday and Saturday's games.

That's to be expected given that Zibanejad hasn't resumed practicing yet. The hope is that he'll skate with the Rangers on Monday and they'll go from there.
Dec 15 - 1:09 PM

Chad Johnson will be the Sabres' starting goaltender on Friday.

Johnson is getting in his first start since he allowed four goals on 28 shots on Dec. 2. He has a 1-5-2 record, 3.64 GAA, and .883 save percentage in 11 contests this season.
Dec 15 - 1:06 PM

Marc-André Fleury made 24 saves on 25 shots in a 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night.

Fleury was sharp against his former team on Thursday, recording his fourth win for the season. He's missed a ton of time due to a concussion. His record is now 4-1-1 with a 2.13 GAA and a .934 save percentage.
Dec 15 - 12:48 AM

Nikolaj Ehlers scored a goal in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Ehlers' power play tally at the 5:35 mark of the third period cut Winnipeg's deficit to 4-1, but that's as close as they'd come to tying the game. The Jets forward has now found the back of the net in four straight games. He has 15 goals and 10 assists in 32 games this season. Tyler Myers and Bryan Little picked up the assists on the Jets' only goal.
Dec 15 - 12:48 AM

Patrick Kane scored a goal and an assist in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

The 'Hawks have struggled at different times this season, but they came up with one of their best performances of 2017-18 on Thursday. Kane registered an assist on Nick Schmaltz's first-period goal that gave the Blackhawks a 3-0 lead at the time. He then added one of his own in the second period to extend his team's lead to 4-0. Kane finished the game with a plus-2 rating and three shots on goal in 16:43 of ice time. The 29-year-old has accumulated five points in his last three contests. He's up to 12 goals and 32 points in 32 games this season. Vinnie Hinostroza, Tommy Wingels and Michal Kempny also found the back of the net for Chicago.
Dec 15 - 12:45 AM

Alex Stalock stopped all 28 shots he faced in Thursday's 2-0 win over the Maple Leafs.

The Maple Leafs didn't have Auston Matthews in the lineup, but that doesn't take away from Stalock's performance in this game. The Wild will need their backup goaltender to come up with more big performances while starter Devan Dubnyk recovers from his injury. Stalock has a 5-3-1 record with a 2.61 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage. He's been victorious in each of Minnesota's last three games. He's worth a short-term add in most fantasy leagues.
Dec 15 - 12:36 AM

Juuse Saros made 46 saves in a 4-0 shutout victory over the Edmonton Oilers Thursday night.

Saros recorded his second career shutout on Thursday. The Oilers scored seven goals on Columbus earlier this week but were firing blanks on the Predators despite racking up 22 shots in the first period. Saros's record improves to 3-3-1 with a 2.95 GAA and a .911 save percentage.
