Ondrej Pavelec will be between the pipes for the Jets Sunday on the road against the New Jersey Devils.

It's been a tough year between the pipes for Winnipeg's top goaltender. Pavelec is only 9-11-1 on the season and his peripherals are downright horrible. He's a shaky fantasy propostion everytime he's on the ice.

Darcy Kuemper signed a two-year, $3.7 million extension with the Arizona Coyotes.

That works out to an AAV of $1.85 million. The Coyotes just acquired Kuemper from the Los Angeles Kings. He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, but the extension was clearly part of the deal. Kuemper has a 10-1-3 record with a 2.10 goals-against-average and a .932 save percentage this season. He'll likely get a lot more starts now that he's in Arizona, but he won't be able to win as many games.

The Arizona Coyotes have acquired Darcy Kuemper from the Los Angeles Kings.

The Kings are reportedly getting forward Tobias Reider and goalie Scott Wedgewood in the deal. Kuemper is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, but Coyotes beat reporter Craig Morgan is reporting that Arizona has inked him to an extension. Kuemper has been one of the better backups in the league this year, as he has a 10-1-3 record with a 2.10 goals-against-average and a .932 save percentage this season.

It sounds like Carey Price sustained a head injury on Tuesday.

Price took a shot off his mask during Tuesday's game and while he stayed in the game, he wasn't on the ice for Wednesday's practice to undergo treatment. The Canadiens then recalled goalie Charlie Lindgren on an emergency basis.

Cory Schneider (groin) took part in a lightly populated optional practice on Wednesday.

Schneider was one of just eight players taking part, but the fact that he was practicing under any circumstances is a step forward for him. He was upbeat after going through the practice. "Pretty far along I'd say, compared to where I was a couple weeks ago," Schneider said of his recovery. "Today was a good workout, a lot of volume, and putting myself in some more realistic situations and positions, just trying to get a feel for where I'm at, then just keep ramping it up." Schneider isn't expected to return on Thursday or Saturday, but he might be back next week.

James Neal (illness) is a game-time decision on Wednesday.

Neal couldn't play in Monday's game due to the disease. He has 24 goals and 39 points in 58 games in 2017-18.

Jeff Carter (ankle) can start practicing with the Kings.

Carter will join Los Angeles for Thursday's practice, but he's already been ruled out for Thursday's contest. It seems he's getting close to returning after missing most of the season.

Marc Staal (whiplash) will rejoin the Rangers on Thursday.

It will be Staal's first game since Feb. 3. He has a goal and seven points in 50 games this season.

It looks like Robin Lehner (hip) will be available on Thursday.

Lehner was on the ice Wednesday morning and said afterwards that he feels 100%. Sabres coach Phil Housley backed that up by declaring Lehner ready to go. Lehner couldn't play on Monday due to the ailment.

Ryan Miller is expected to start for the Ducks on Wednesday.

John Gibson sustained a lower-body injury on Monday and didn't practice on Tuesday. As a result, Miller is temporarily the Ducks' de facto starting goaltender. Gibson has dealt with more than his fair share of injury problems this season, which has led to the Ducks leaning on Miller more than they would have anticipated.

Bo Horvat scored his 16th goal of the season on a pass from All-Star Brock Boeser in Tuesday's 5-4 loss against the Avalanche.

Horvat scored for the third consecutive game, and the fifth outing in the past six contests. He was playing at an All-Star level early in the season, but an early-December injury stunted his growth. After a exhibiting a little bit of rust in the first nine games of his return, he has re-discovered his scoring touch and is once again a potent fantasy force, one of few in Vancouver this season.
