Jon Gillies will get his first start of the 2017-18 campaign on Thursday.

Gillies had made two appearances for the Flames before that and posted a 4.35 GAA and .815 save percentage over 69 minutes of ice time. At the AHL level, he has a 2.61 GAA and .915 save percentage in 31 contests this season.

The Florida Panthers have acquired Frank Vatrano from the Boston Bruins in exchange for a third round pick.

Vatrano hasn't been able to play since Feb. 2 due to a lower-body injury and it's not clear when he'll return. Before the injury, his role with Boston was minimal this season as he averaged 9:28 minutes per game and had two goals in 25 contests. The 23-year-old was strong with UMass-Amherst before turning pro in 2015 and he has excelled at the AHL level. A fresh start might be what he needs to move past his more recent struggles and injury misfortune.

Aaron Dell is expected to start Thursday night.

Dell will be looking for his third straight win. He has a 2.51 GAA and .917 save percentage in 24 games this season.
Feb 22 - 2:03 PM

Tomas Hertl (upper body) is good to return on Thursday.

Hertl was sidelined for three consecutive games. He has 15 goals and 33 points in 57 games this season.
Feb 22 - 2:02 PM

Shea Weber will undergo foot surgery to repair a torn tendon.

Weber has been ruled out for the rest of the season as a result. The original hope was that Weber would be able to recover through rehab alone, which would have enabled him to play again in 2017-18. However, progress wasn't being made and it was determined after further examination that surgery was the way to go. Weber was limited to 26 games this season.
Feb 22 - 1:04 PM

Mike Green (upper body) will miss Thursday's game.

It will be Green's fourth straight contest on the sideline. The hope is that he'll be able to return on Saturday or Sunday though. There's a good chance that the Red Wings will attempt to trade him before the Monday deadline, so Green returning this weekend would help alleviate a potential complication in that.
Feb 22 - 12:23 PM

Eddie Lack will be the Devils' starter on Thursday.

Lack is with the Devils because Cory Schneider is sidelined. Once Schneider returns, which could be in the near future, Lack will likely be returned to the AHL. Lack has a 2-3-0 record, 4.22 GAA, and .869 save percentage in seven games this season.
Feb 22 - 12:19 PM

Marc-Andre Fleury blocked 28 shots in a 7-3 win against Calgary on Wednesday night.

Fleury has posted 20 wins in 29 starts with the Golden Knights this season. He has registered a 2.10 goals-against average and .930 save percentage. Vegas set an NHL record for points by a team in its inaugural season Wednesday night and the team sits first overall in the league with a 40-16-4 record for 84 points.
Feb 22 - 10:16 AM

Petr Mrazek is projected to get in his first start with the Flyers on Thursday.

That's not set in stone, but Mrazek was the first goaltender off the ice following Wednesday's practice, which is likely a sign of who the starter will be. The Flyers acquired Mrazek from the Red Wings and the hope is that he'll be solid while Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth are sidelined. He had a 2.89 GAA and .910 save percentage in 22 games with Detroit this season.
Feb 22 - 6:14 AM

Ryan Miller earned a 41-save shutout in Calgary's 2-0 victory over Dallas Wednesday night.

Miller has made 15 starts this season (21 appearances overall) and three of them have been shutouts. He's up to an 8-4-5 record with a 2.46 GAA and .925 save percentage. John Gibson is sidelined with a lower-body injury, so the Ducks are expected to continue to lean on Miller for now.
Feb 22 - 4:36 AM

Matt Duchene found the back of the net in Wednesday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Duchene's goal at the 12:01 mark of the second period tied the game two. The Sens forward also converted on his shootout attempt, but Chicago's Nick Schmaltz eventually won the game in the seventh round of the shootout. Duchene finished the game with a minus-1 rating, four shots on goal and two blocked shots in 20:49 of ice time. He's up to 16 goals and 37 points in 58 games. 11 of those points have come in his last eight games. Zack Smith also scored for the Senators in the loss.
