Updating a previous note, Jarome Iginla is considered "unlikely to play for now" for Saturday, according tothe Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Rob Russi.

The newest Penguin was supposed to arrive Friday night but immigration issues -- which are now resolved -- have delayed his arrival. RDS' Renaud Lavoie says he will join the team Saturday, though it's unclear exactly when. It sounds as if Saturday's start time was the standard 7 p.m. one, Iginla would have a chance of playing, but the 1 p.m. puck drop with the Islanders complicates matters. In all likelihood, the longtime member of the Flames will make his Penguins debut Tuesday.

Sam Reinhart lifted his career-best point streak up to four games with an assist during Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Bruins.

The youngster now has two goals and four points during the streak. He has five goals and 14 points in 24 games this season. He just may be as the kid's say, "for real."
Dec 3 - 7:55 PM

Ivan Provorov only needed one shift to put the Flyers past the Blackhawks on Saturday.

The 19-year-old phenom scored twice in 31 seconds early in the second period to put the Flyers up 2-1, and they'd go on to win 3-1. Provorov is now up to three goals and 11 points in 26 games this season.
Dec 3 - 6:55 PM

Mark Scheifele will be held out of Saturday's match with the Blues due to a lower-body injury.

He is questionable to play on Sunday as well. Alexander Burmistrov will replace him in the lineup. Consider Scheifele day-to-day for now.
Dec 3 - 6:46 PM

Corey Crawford will miss two-to-three weeks after undergoing an emergency appendectomy on Saturday morning.

That goodness for modern medicine. Expect Scott Darling to see the bulk of the starts with Crawford out. He should return by Christmas.
Dec 3 - 4:19 PM

Darnell Nurse will be lost to the Oilers "long-term" due to a lower body injury.

Well that's not good news. In his second full season in the bigs, the 21-year-old was blossoming well. Nurse posted five points along with 17 PIMs, 25 blocks, and 60 hits.
Dec 3 - 1:37 PM

Teddy Purcell has been placed on waivers by the Kings.

And thus a dreadful season for Purcell takes another sour turn. The 31-year-old winger has been hampered by poor health and ineffective play all season. He posted just a pair of helpers in 12 games. Purcell carries a $1.6 hit to the cap, and the Kings will be spared just over half of it should he go unclaimed and sent to the AHL.
Dec 3 - 12:32 PM

Corey Crawford (illness) won't play in Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Scott Darling will get the start in his place. Crawford is at the arena in Philadelphia, but he isn't feeling well enough to suit up as the team's backup. The Hawks are now scrambling to find themselves a backup for this afternoon's game. The Chicago Tribune mentioned that goalie coach Jimmy Waite could be an option to backup Darling. Crawford is day-to-day.
Dec 3 - 12:06 PM

Joe Thornton assisted on both of San Jose's goals on Friday.

Thornton now has 1,354 career points, giving him sole possession of 25th place on the all-time list ahead of Brendan Shanahan. Thornton's gotten that far through his ability to perform like a star player deep into his 30s. He's reached the 60-point mark in 15 campaigns and the 70-point milestone in 12 seasons.
Dec 3 - 11:00 AM

The NHLPA has rejected an NHL proposal where the league would agree to participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics in exchange for a three-year extension to the CBA.

NHLPA executive director Don Fehr still hopes to work out a deal that would allow the players to participate in the Olympics, but not on those terms. If the players had agreed to the proposal, then the existing CBA would have been extended to 2025. Part of the NHL's hesitation to participate in the Olympics stemmed from the idea that the IIHF and IOC wouldn't cover costs of insurance, accommodation, and travel that could run up to $10 million. However, IIHF president Rene Fasel recently suggested that those costs could be covered for the NHL. Still, Olympic participate means suspending the NHL temporarily during the heart of the season and putting star players at risk of injury outside of NHL games. NHL players have participated in the last five Olympics though.

Chad Johnson will get his ninth start over the last 11 games on Friday against the Wild.

Over his last eight starts the veteran underdog has posted a 6-2 record with three shutouts and 12 goals against, giving him a beastly .951 save percentage. Ride the wave.
Dec 2 - 6:17 PM

Carter Hutton will be the St. Louis Blues' goalie on Saturday.

Hutton is making his first start since Nov. 23. He has a 2.98 GAA and .891 save percentage in seven games this season.
