The St. Louis Blues have sent Jake Allen to the minors.

That leaves the Blues with only one goaltender on their active roster, but they don't play until Monday anyways. Backup netminder Brian Elliott is expected to wrap up his conditioning stint, return to the Blues and stick with the team for the remainder of the season. Allen has a 2.45 GAA and .906 save percentage in 12 NHL games this season.

Connor McDavid has 15 points including seven goals in his last four games and is on a 24 game scoring streak.

The consensus number one pick for the June draft has 102 points in only 39 games this season and is now fourth in the OHL in scoring despite playing at least 16 games less than anyone ahead of him. Mitch Marner of the London Knights leads the way with 118 points but McDavid is far and away the class of the league.

Brandon Dubinsky is out indefinitely with a concussion.

Dubinsky suffered the injury on Thursday but practiced some on Friday before leaving the ice. "The doctors examined him in the first period," coach Todd Richards said. "There was some neck and shoulder soreness. After the evaluation, just as a precaution, we kept him out of the game. He came in the next morning and felt great. He went out on the ice and started developing symptoms. We got him off right away, and he was re-examined by our doctors. It was ruled a concussion." With only six weeks left in the season, it could be time to cut bait with Dubinsky in one-year pools.

Devan Dubnyk stood tall in net for Minnesota, making 33 saves in a 3-1 win over the Avalanche on Saturday night.

We’re running out of superlatives to attach to Dubnyk’s performance since he’s been traded to Minnesota. He has a 15-3-1 record and a 1.64 goals-against and .937 save percentage with the Wild. For those who took a chance on him, he’s been a fantasy difference maker as well.
Mar 1 - 1:03 AM

Mike Hoffman netted two goals (one on the power play) and added an assist to lead the Senators to a 4-2 win over the Sharks on Saturday night.

With the way Filip Forsberg has played, Hoffman, who had one goal on the empty net, is unlikely to win the rookie of the year, but his stock in that race is gaining steam. He now has 23 goals and 39 points this season, with at least a point in eight of his past nine games. Fellow rookie Mark Stone also scored, and had an assist. Erik Karlsson got the other goal, on the power play. Kyle Turris picked up two helpers.

Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic says that his "intention" is to try to re-sign Ryan O’Reilly.

O’Reilly has one more year left on a deal that carries a $6 million cap hit. Many have speculated he could be a big trade chip during this year’s trade deadline. Ultimately, whether O’Reilly gets moved will likely be determined this offseason. "Ryan is part of our core," Sakic said. "My intention is that at the end of the year I want to try and re-sign him. That will be the goal with Ryan. That being said, we're not going to want that same distraction going on all year next season, either. But he's a guy I want to have here. And hopefully we can work something out this summer." The 24-year-old has 10 goals and 36 points this season.

Zbynek Michalek is drawing "significant interest" on the trade market, according to Coyotes general manager Don Maloney.

This despite Michalek dealing with an upper-body injury that has sidelined him since Feb. 14. Michalek is improving and should be able to play soon, so it hasn’t scared off teams. The 32-year-old has eight points this season.
Feb 28 - 11:15 PM

Michael Del Zotto scored the game-winning goal — shorthanded — for the Flyers in their 4-2 win over the Rangers on Saturday night.

Del Zotto kept his team’s faint playoff hopes alive, while knocking off the team that drafted and then traded him away. He has eight goals and 25 points this season, with four points over his past five games. Matt Read, Michael Raffl and Wayne Simmonds (empty netter) got the other goals. Sean Couturier had two helpers.
Feb 28 - 11:03 PM

Carey Price kicked aside 30 shots as he and the Canadiens blanked the Maple Leafs 4-0 on Saturday night.

Price has won four games in a row, giving up a total of five goals during that span. He is clearly ahead in the Vezina race, now with a league-leading 36 wins, 1.88 goals-against average and .936 save percentage. He also has six shutouts. In fact, he might be the frontrunner for the Hart Trophy, too.
Feb 28 - 10:09 PM

Antoine Vermette has been traded from the Coyotes to the Blackhawks for a first-round pick and prospect Klas Dahlbeck.

Vermette was one of the more highly sought after players as a solid faceoff center who can play an adequate two-way game in more of a middle-six role. And after losing Patrick Kane, Chicago was in the market for a forward, though Vermette won’t be nearly as dangerous from an offensive perspective. He has 13 goals and 35 points this season. Vermette could end up centering the team's second line, or perhaps third, if coach Joel Quenneville wants to keep Brad Richards as the 2C. Either way, Chicago becomes a deeper team and Vermette's fantasy prospects improve.
Feb 28 - 9:54 PM

The Ducks are getting calls on Matt Beleskey, according to ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun.

Of course, the complication is that Beleskey, an unrestricted free agent, has been important to the Ducks this season, and they have hopes of going far in the playoffs. Beleskey has 21 goals and 30 points, in what has been a career season. The forward is out with a shoulder injury but has recently started to skate again.
Feb 28 - 8:37 PM

Zdeno Chara scored on the power play and assisted in the Bruins’ 4-1 win over the Coyotes on Saturday night.

Chara still makes his presence felt in a positive way for Boston, even if his offensive production has slowed at 37. The goal was just his fifth of the season — first since Feb. 16 — and he now has 19 points. Fantasy owners will have to reel back their expectations next season. Patrice Bergeron and Milan Lucic matched Chara’s night with a goal and an assist of their own. Brad Marchand picked up the other goal.
