After trading Jay Bouwmeester, Flames GM Jay Feaster put the blame on himself for the Calgary Flames' current position.

Although Feaster has been hesitant to call the Flames rebuilding, the fact is they have traded away key veterans for prospects and draft picks and might continue to do so over the next two days. "I didn’t want to be the guy to trade Jarome Iginla," Feaster said. "I didn’t want to be the guy who is trading Bouw. But the reality of it is, if it’s on anybody, if it’s anybody’s fault, then it’s my fault. I should have had the intellectual honesty even earlier and said this isn’t working. So shame on me, but I’m making sure we’re going to correct that going forward." The Flames have endured years of mediocrity because of a desire within the organization to avoid a rebuild. Had they acknowledged their shortcomings earlier, perhaps they would be in a better position today and perhaps not. Either way, you have to give Feaster credit for owning up to his mistakes.

Phil Kessel put on quite the show Tuesday as he potted a pair of goals and added a helper in Toronto's 5-2 win on Long Island.

Though he entered the night with a respectable five points in six games, Kessel's season had been a mix of peaks and valleys until he exploded with this showing. James van Riemsdyk also scored for the Leafs in the win, as did Roman Polak and David Clarkson.

The Los Angeles Kings are standing behind the NHL's decision to suspend Slava Voynov indefinitely.

The NHL acted after Voynov was arrested following an alleged incident of domestic violence that sent an adult woman to the hospital. While the Kings believe the NHL is acting correctly, they do have questions about what this means for their franchise. More specifically, they aren't sure how this will be handled from a salary cap and roster space perspective. The Kings have looked through the CBA and don't feel it addressed their questions, but they will speak to the league Wednesday.
Oct 21 - 3:28 PM

Reto Berra (neck) will indeed start in Tuesday's game.

Berra was already projected to start in that contest, barring a setback. He has a 0.72 GAA and .974 save percentage in three games this season.
Oct 21 - 1:41 PM

Devan Dubnyk will start in Tuesday's game against Nashville.

The Coyotes have a bit of a goalie controversy given Mike Smith's slow start to the season. Smith has a 5.33 GAA and .822 save percentage in three games. While his struggles might lead to Dubnyk getting more ice time in the short-term, Smith should get more opportunities to turn his season around before he's in any serious jeopardy of losing the starting gig. It's worth adding that Dubnyk did play for the Predators in 2013-14, but he only appeared in two games, so this isn't the biggest of reunions.
Oct 21 - 1:36 PM

Anton Khudobin will play between the pipes on Tuesday.

Khudobin was been splitting the Hurricanes' starts with Cam Ward so far. Khudobin is off to a far better start though with a 2.44 GAA and .923 save percentage.
Oct 21 - 1:16 PM

Pavel Datsyuk (shoulder) should be back into the Red Wings' lineup on Tuesday.

Datsyuk missed the start of the season after sustaining the injury during Detroit's first preseason game. He's battle more than his fair share of ailments in recent years, but he's one of the league's top players when he's healthy.
Oct 21 - 12:48 PM

Corey Crawford has sustained an upper-body injury.

Crawford will not start against the Philadelphia Flyers as a result. Beyond that, he's considered day-to-day. Crawford has a 1.66 GAA and .926 save percentage in four games this season.
Oct 21 - 12:31 PM

He appeared to be favoring his leg when he left late in the second period and he didn't return. Callahan is unlikely to play Tuesday night in Calgary, according to coach Jon Cooper.
Oct 21 - 10:27 AM

Taylor Hall scored on a penalty shot, added an assist and recorded a plus-two rating in helping the Edmonton Oilers edge the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 Monday night.

It was the Oilers' first victory of the season after the worst start in franchise history at 0-4-1. Hall's goal was his fourth of the season. The left winger was awarded his penalty shot at 14:57 of the second period. He assisted earlier in the second on a pretty backhanded goal by defenseman Justin Schultz, his first of the season. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also notched his first of the season, the game winner at 16:35 of the third period. It was set up nicely after an interception in the Lightning's zone by Justin Eberle, who quickly turned around and passed the puck to Nugent-Hopkins. Eberle's assist was his third of the season.
Oct 21 - 12:11 AM

Jimmy Howard (groin) will be between the pipes for Detroit on Tuesday night in Montreal.

He was on 48-hour injured reserve while he recovered from a groin injury, but he's recovered now and ready to go. Get him back in your lineup if you normally would.
