According to TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger, the Washington Capitals may have some interest in Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk.

Shattenkirk is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and it sounds like the Blues will try to unload him before the trade deadline. The reported asking price is pretty high, but the Capitals could pay up to get the puck-moving defenseman. Acquiring him also means that they'll keep him away from division rivals Pittsburgh or the New York Rangers. If the Capitals can make this work, it would be a big acquisition for them.

The New York Islanders are reportedly interested in Matt Duchene.

The report comes from TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, who says he knows the Islanders want to bring Duchene into the fold. There's no guarantee that the Avalanche will move him between now and Wednesday's trade deadline, but if they do, the reported asking price is three to four solid young assets, including a defenseman that Colorado could pencil into their lineup right away. Dreger brought up Travis Hamonic as a potential fit for the Avs.

Jason Pominville has been diagnosed with the mumps.

Multiple members of the Vancouver Canucks have already been sidelined with the same illness and it seems to have spread to the Wild's locker room, as both Pominville and Zach Parise are suffering from the same issue. Both players will now be placed in isolation for a five-day period. Consider him day-to-day.

The Ottawa Senators have acquired Alex Burrows from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Jonathan Dahlen.

Burrows has nine goals and 20 points in 55 games this season. Ottawa is in a tight race for playoff spots and positioning in the Atlantic Division and as it stands, the Senators are just two points out of the division lead. Burrows provides them secondary scoring on the third or second line.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired Brian Boyle from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Byron Froese and a 2017 second-round pick.

Boyle has 13 goals and 22 points in 54 games this season. He comes with a $2 million annual cap hit and is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He'll provide the Leafs with a veteran presence and bolster their bottom-six forwards as they battle for a playoff spot.

Al Montoya is expected to get the nod Monday night.

It will be Montoya's first start since Feb. 11. He has a 2.56 GAA and .913 save percentage in 16 games this season.

Kyle Quincey will be a healthy scratch on Monday.

This is probably a case of the Devils protecting a possible trade chip. If Quincey played on Monday and got hurt, then New Jersey would miss out on the pick(s) or prospect(s) they could potentially get for him. John Moore will draw into the lineup.

Steven Stamkos (knee) might be able to return before the end of the season.

"Everything is moving along really well," Lightning GM Steve Yzerman said. Stamkos has resumed skating, but there's no specific timetable for his return. He underwent knee surgery in mid-November.

Brandon Manning has been handed a two-game suspension for his hit on Pittsburgh’s Jake Guentzel.

Manning's shoulder made contact with Guentzel's head and the hit was also late. Manning will be eligible to return on March 4.

The New Jersey Devils have placed Pavel Zacha on the injured reserve list retroactive to February 21 when he suffered a concussion.

Since Zacha was not going to play on Monday, it was a good move putting on the IR as he can now be taken off any time after Tuesday. The forward was drafted sixth overall in 2015 and has 16 points in 52 games. He is worth looking at in keeper leagues and should really be looked at hard next season as he is the future of the Devils.

Radim Vrbata scored with 19 seconds remaining to cap off the comeback in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Sabres.

The Coyotes were down 2-0 heading into the third period, not to mention a key part of their team in Martin Hanzal was missing after he was traded right before the game. Vrbata got Arizona going with an assist early in the third on a goal by Max Domi and then he scored in the final minute to give the Coyotes a hard-earned two points in the standings. Vrbata now has a nine-game scoring streak and 46 points in 61 matches this season.
