Marian Gaborik has reportedly been sent to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a sixth-round pick, Derek Brassard, Derek Dorset, and John Moore.
Getting Gaborik would be huge for any team, but especially the Columbus Blue Jackets. First off, Gaborik had to waive his no-trade clause for the deal to be finalized, so this isn't a repeat of the Jeff Carter deal, where the Blue Jackets took a chance on a player that didn't really want to play with them. More importantly though, Gaborik gives them a big name that fills the void left by the Rick Nash trade. When this season started, the Blue Jackets were considered a contender for the first overall pick. Now it looks like they might make the playoffs. From a fantasy perspective, this deal is good news for Gaborik owners. This will give him the change of scenery he probably needs to turn his season around.
