Mike Hoffman re-injured his collarbone last week and will be out indefinitely.

Hoffman broke his collarbone earlier in the year while playing in the minors. He missed two months with the injury, but it's not clear yet whether Hoffman simply aggravated the injury or fractured the bone again. Either way, it sounds like it'll be a long time before Hoffman is back on the ice.

Trevor Daley will be out of action for two-to-four weeks, according to coach Lindy Ruff.

He was injured on a knee-on-knee hit by Islanders winger Matt Martin on Tuesday. Martin received a one-game suspension on the play.

Alex Ovechkin is listed as a game-time decision for Thursday's match against Minnesota because of a lower-body injury.

He didn't take part in the morning skate and his status will be determined during the pregame warmup. Ovechkin leads the league with 43 goals and he's tied with linemate Nicklas Backstrom for the most points in the NHL with 67 in 65 games.

Brandon Dubinsky (concussion) will be back in the lineup on Friday.

That's a quick recovery after he suffered a concussion last Thursday against Montreal. Dubinsky has eight goals, 22 points and 112 hits in 34 games this season.
Mar 5 - 12:14 PM

Roberto Luongo (shoulder) won't be available for Florida's next two games.

That means he is out for Thursday and Saturday, but the Panthers hope to have him back next Thursday when they host Winnipeg. Consider Luongo day-to-day for now, which is good news for Florida.
Mar 5 - 11:27 AM

Dan Ellis will get the nod for Florida on Thursday against Dallas.

In an interesting twist it was a year ago today that Florida acquired Ellis in a trade with the Stars for Tim Thomas. Ellis hasn't seen any NHL action this season.
Mar 5 - 11:16 AM

Dustin Byfuglien exited Wednesday's game against Ottawa in the second period with an upper-body injury.

The Jets have an off-day Thursday, but the coach Paul Maurice said they should know more about Byfuglien's status. Hopefully, for the Jets and his fantasy owners it isn't anything serious.
Mar 5 - 10:27 AM

John Gibson made 38 saves in a 3-1 Anaheim win over Montreal on Wednesday.

Gibson was very close to the shutout in this game but the Canadiens scored with less than two minutes left in the game. Nevertheless, he was outstanding on this night as he calmly out-played Carey Price on the other end. Frederik Andersen was very good in his first start back from injury last night in Arizona so it will be interesting to see how the Ducks spread out the starts for the rest of the season. Gibson is 9-5 with a 2.41 goals-against-average and .924 save percentage in 15 appearances. He is a great start whenever Andersen is unable to go or needs a rest.
Mar 5 - 1:52 AM

Evgeni Malkin scored the lone goal for the Penguins in a 3-1 loss to Colorado on Wednesday.

It was his third goal in two games and fifth in four as he stays red hot. The Russian stud has 12 points during a six game points streak. Malkin has 27 goals and 65 points in 58 games this season. He is one of the top fantasy players in all of hockey and everyone should know that he must be started in all formats every night.
Mar 5 - 1:28 AM

Gabriel Landeskog scored and added two helpers in Colorado's 3-1 win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

He was named the first star of the game and definitely deserved it. The Avalanche captain has been on a heck of streak lately with seven goals in his last 10 games. He has 12 total points over that stretch. After a slow start to the season, he has 17 goals and 43 points in 64 games this year. Jarome Iginla and Nathan MacKinnon added the other goals for Colorado.
Mar 5 - 1:18 AM

Semyon Varlamov turned aside 28-of-29 shots in a 3-1 win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

Overall it has been a difficult season but Varlamov now has six wins in this last nine starts as the Avs are trying to finish this season strong. He carries a 20-17-7 record to go with a 2.65 GAA and .918 save percentage into his next start.

Detroit newcomer Marek Zidlicky scored a power-play goal at 1:09 of overtime to give the Red Wings a 2-1 triumph over the visiting New York Rangers Wednesday night.

Zidlicky scored his first goal as a Red Wing in his first game with Detroit since being acquired from New Jersey at the trade deadline this week. Zidlicky was dealt by the Devils for a third-round pick in the 2016 NHL draft. If the Wings reach the Stanley Cup final, New Jersey would get Detroit's second-round pick. Zidlicky, a veteran defenseman, can be an unrestricted free agent after the season. The Wings were in hot pursuit of a right-handed defenseman and they got one in Zidlicky. His goal Wednesday gives him 24 points (five goals) in 64 games this season. The other Detroit goal scorer in this one was Justin Abdelkader, who gave the Wings a 1-0 lead at 6:12 of the first period. Abdelkader now has 14 goals on the season. Henrik Zetterberg assisted on both Detroit goals and increased his season total to 36. Zetterberg was playing for the first time after missing four games because of a head injury.
