The Buffalo Sabres announced that Tyler Myers broke a bone in his leg on Thursday, effectively ending his 2013 season.

The towering defenseman has been a disappointment on the scale of his size at times in this campaign, but that's still a discouraging update. The Sabres didn't give a window of recovery beyond that vague season-ending label, so it's unclear how deep into the offseason (or even 2013-14 season) this might go.

Henrik Lundqvist says he is dealing with some headaches and light-headedness after taking a shot to the throat in the Rangers’ 4-1 win Saturday night.

Lundqvist’s mask had been slightly lifted by Ryan McDonagh’s stick during a battle in front and the throat protector was not in the right spot when the shot was taken. Lundqvist took several minutes to collect himself, but remained in the game, making 31 saves. After the tilt, Lundqvist said he is not dealing with concussion symptoms. "Obviously it’s not fun when it happens," Lundqvist said. "I’m actually glad, it could’ve been a lot worse. I feel lucky."

Ben Bishop kicked away 34 shots in the Lightning’s 3-1 win over Columbus on Saturday night.

Bishoip was 3:26 away from recording a shutout when Ryan Johansen beat him. He has won five of his past six games, evidence of what makes him a valuable play in fantasy leagues. Bishop won’t post sterling rate stats — 2.32 goals-against average, .915 save percentage — but he plays for a very good team, so he his wins upside is high, of which he has 26.

John Klingberg’s four-point night led the Stars to a 5-2 win over the Jets on Saturday.

Klingberg scored twice and had two assists, in addition to two penalty minutes, a plus-two rating and two shots on goal in 22:38. Just 22 years old, he has shown in his short time in the NHL that he has the makings of a pretty good offensive blueliner. Klinberg has seven goals and 20 points in 34 games, so he’s certainly worth a bench addition, at least. Shawn Horcoff, Patrick Eaves and Jason Spezza picked up the other goals. Tyler Seguin registered three helpers.

Steve Mason recorded a shutout on 30 saves in the Flyers’ 1-0 victory over the Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

Mason has been very sharp since returning from an injury, giving up a total of three goals in the three games. The shutout is is second of the season, and he’s got five wins over his last five decisions. Mason has a 2.32 goals-against average and .924 save percentage. Suffice to say, this season has exceeded the expectations of many.

Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves in the Rangers’ 4-1 win over the Hurricanes on Saturday night.

Lundqvist and the Rangers seemed to avoid a major injury when he was hit in the throat with a shot that eluded his neck flap early in the second period. Lundqvist needed several moments to be looked at by the trainers and collect himself, but he would stay in the game. Afterwards, Lundqvist said he was a bit light-headed and had headaches, but there are no concussion worries. The Rangers had no business being in this one in the first half, but that’s why they pay King Henrik top dollar. He has a 2.23 goals-against average and .922 save percentage this season.
Jan 31 - 9:47 PM

Mike Smith couldn't get all the way through the Ottawa Senators' 7-2 shellacking of his Arizona Coyotes, as he was pulled early in the third period.

Smith allowed five goals on 20 shots while newly recalled backup Louis Domingue gave up two tallies on 11 shots in an ugly all-around day for the 'Yotes. Unless you're in a league that rewards poor play, it's hard to imagine much of a reason to have Smith on any roster.

For the second straight game, Max Pacioretty collecting the lone goal (not to mention GWG) for the Montreal Canadiens, as they bested the Washington Capitals 1-0 in OT on Saturday.

Pacioretty hammered seven SOG in order to finally beat Braden Holtby. He now has 23 goals and five GWG in 2014-15, not to mention 178 SOG in 48 games.
Jan 31 - 3:53 PM

Montreal Canadiens netminder Carey Price won yet another goalie duel on Saturday as his team beat the Washington Capitals 1-0 in OT.

After besting Henrik Lundqvist, Price also edged Braden Holtby with zero margin of error. Price stopped 36 shots for his fourth shutout of 2014-15. He's now won five games in a row, allowing five goals in that span.
Jan 31 - 3:51 PM

The Arizona Coyotes announced that Martin Hanzal won't play on Saturday because of an upper-body injury.

Hanzal is considered day-to-day. Hanzal has 24 points, 31 PPP, 85 SOG and 105 hits in 37 games so far this season. Injuries have been a snag for him for some time, which maybe shouldn't be surprising considering the towering center's rough style.
Jan 31 - 3:05 PM

Toronto interim head coach Peter Horachek told the media Saturday morning that Dion Phaneuf will be out of action for at least another week.

Not a surprise as Phaneuf was originally listed as week-to-week with an upper body injury. The good news is that Phaneuf was on the ice by himself Saturday morning. We trust you have already replaced the Maple Leaf rearguard on your fantasy roster.

When the Senators play the Coyotes Saturday afternoon it will be the first time in 31 years that a double pair of brothers will play against each other in the same NHL game.

Mark Stone and Milan Michalek of the Senators will face off against their respective brothers, Mark and Zbynek of the Coyotes Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm ET. The last time it happened was in 1983 when Wayne Babych and Joe Mullen of the St. Louis Blues faced Dave Babych and Brian Mullen of the first Winnipeg Jets. What is even more ironic is that the Sens' Michalek and Stone will play on the same line. Unfortunately the Coyotes' Stone and Michalek are defensemen who aren't in the same pairing. That would have been even cooler.
