It sounds like Johan Hedberg is geared up to play - or at least back up Martin Brodeur - for the New Jersey Devils again.

One cannot help but wonder if the clock is ticking on the Swede's scrappy NHL career. The same can be said for the Devils' playoff hopes, which might hurt his chances of playing much.

Logan Couture recorded a goal and an assist in the Ducks 5-1 win over the Avalanche on Wednesday.

Couture's 26th of the year was an empty-netter but they all count the same in fantasy. He was also a plus-2 on the night and continued a hot stretch that has seen him garner points in four straight games (3G,3A). Patrick Marleau picked up his 18th goal in the win while Brent Burns added two assists in the must win for the Sharks.
Apr 2 - 1:30 AM

Frederik Andersen turned away 22-of-23 shots in the Ducks' division clinching 5-1 blowout win over Edmonton on Wednesday.

It is perhaps fitting that Andersen was in net for the Ducks in this game after he carried the load for most of the wins this season but has been splitting time with John Gibson the last 15 games. Andersen has four wins in his last three starts and is 34-11-5 with a 2.37 GAA and .914 save percentage in 52 games this season. It has been a very efficient season for the first year full-time starter.
Apr 2 - 12:59 AM

Jakob Silfverberg picked up three assists in Anaheim's 5-1 blowout of Edmonton on Wednesday.

Silverberg snapped a six-game pointless streak with the three night helper. The 24 year-old has 12 goals and 26 assists for 38 points in 78 games for the Ducks this season. Andrew Cogliano and Francois Beauchemin each added a goal and an assist while Corey Perry picked up his team leading 33rd goal of the year in the Ducks blowout win.
Apr 2 - 12:46 AM

Philadelphia forward Brayden Schenn scored twice in the Flyers' 4-1 upset victory over the Penguins in Pittsburgh Wednesday night.

After superstar Sidney Crosby gave Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead early in the first period, the Flyers scored four consecutive goals on goalie Marc-Andre Fleury and beat their cross-state rivals handily. Schenn's goals were his 15th and 16th of the season. Jacub Voracek assisted on Schenn's second goal. That gives Voracek 56 assists on the season. Philly's other goal scorers were Vincent Lecavalier (eighth) and defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo. Colaiacovo's goal, on a shorthanded effort, was his first of the season. Colaiacovo also was a plus-two on the night.
Apr 1 - 10:51 PM

Ryan Kesler (upper body injury) will be held out of Wednesday’s contest with the Oilers.

Kesler was given a maintenance day during the morning skate Wednesday and will not be dressed for the game at night versus the Oilers. He has played in all 78 games for the Ducks this season, picking up 20 goals and 47 points and although he still carries a lot of "real-life" value for the Ducks, he has been a disappointing fantasy player for those who drafted him this season expecting 30 plus goals and 60 plus points. Consider him day-to-day and look for him to return to the Ducks lineup Friday against the Avalanche.
Apr 1 - 9:36 PM

Evgeni Malkin is a late scratch due to an undisclosed injury for Wednesday's contest with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Well this comes as a shocker considering he participated in the teams morning skate and was all set to play come game time. There are no further details released right now but stay tuned for more updates.

Andrew Hammond has been chosen as the first star of March.

He posted an impressive 10-1-1 record with a 2.09 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage to help the Senators get into the playoff hunt. Hammond permitted two or fewer goals in nine of his 12 appearances.

Patrick Kane (clavicle) was back at practice on Wednesday.

It was his first session with his teammates since he was taken out of the lineup with a broken clavicle. "I thought it was a pretty good step (Wednesday) skating with the team," Kane said. "I'm happy about that. I'm not really sure what the next step is. I'm sure it would be contact and maybe finish some of the drills the guys were doing. We'll kind of see how I feel there." Unfortunately, his timetable hasn't changed, which means he's still on track to return in mid-May.
Apr 1 - 5:18 PM

Martin St. Louis will return to the lineup on Thursday night.

Coach Alain Vigneault confirmed that St. Louis would play after missing eight games with a sprained MCL. St. Louis had three points in seven matches during the month of March before he was injured. Get him back in your lineup if you normally would.
Apr 1 - 3:32 PM

Johnny Gaudreau has been named the NHL's rookie of the month for March.

He led all first-year players with 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) in 15 games. Gaudreau is the leading scorer among rookies with 60 points in 76 games thanks in large part to a successful showing in March.

Brett Connolly (finger) could make his Boston debut on Thursday against Detroit.

He practiced with his teammates on Wednesday after he took part in the pregame warmup on Tuesday. Connolly suffered a broken right index finger during his second practice with the Bruins after he was acquired from Tampa Bay.
