Nick Foligno notched two points, including the winning goal with only 29 seconds left in the overtime period, to lift the surging Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-3 triumph over the Avalanche in Colorado Monday night.

The goal was Foligno's sixth of the season and his assist was his 12th of the season. The Jackets are trying to put an exclamation mark on their 2013 season with a playoff berth after finishing dead last in the NHL last season. Also scoring for Columbus on Monday were R.J. Umberger, Nick Letestu and Blake Comeau.

The Chicago Blackhawks are likely to stick with the same lineup against the Anaheim Ducks in Game 7 of the WCF.

The group generated a 5-2 win in a "must" situation in Game 6, so it's not too surprising that Joel Quenneville is sticking with it. It will be interesting to see how depth defensemen such as David Rundblad fare under the pressure.

While it's not 100 percent certain, it looks like Tomas Fleischmann will draw back into the Anaheim Ducks' lineup against the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 7 of the WCF on Saturday.

Bruce Boudreau seems like he's leaning toward experience in slotting Fleischmann in for Emerson Etem. The 31-year-old Czech has one assist in five postseason games. He's gone three straight without a point, receiving minimal ice time and only generating a single SOG in that span. It would be surprising if "Flash" is a big difference-maker in this one, but Game 7's can be unpredictable.

Nashville Predators GM David Poile said that re-signing Mike Ribeiro and Mike Fisher is on the top of his to-do list this offseason.

Not a surprise, but it's worth noting that he states that it is his most important priority. Both forwards were key parts of the Predators' resurgent offense, so it's expected, but you never know with unrestricted free agency.
May 30 - 2:09 PM

Nashville Predators GM David Poile acknowledged the widely held belief that defenseman Cody Franson will likely leave via free agency.

Franson is a useful defenseman in most situations, yet the Predators are so loaded with blueliners who boast similar strengths that he was often lost in the shuffle. A tepid finish to his contract year might hurt things a bit (he only had four points in 23 regular season games with Nashville after generating 32 in 55 contests with Toronto in 2014-15), yet the pool of UFA defensemen is so shallow that it would be surprising if Franson doesn't attract multiple bidders.

If the Chicago Blackhawks win in Game 7 against the Anaheim Ducks, Brad Richards will join an exclusive club.

That would give him eight career wins in Game 7's, which would make him just the third person to hit that mark in NHL history. The other two are Ray Bourque and Glenn Anderson, so that's a pretty good group to be in.
May 30 - 1:23 PM

Tampa Bay Lightning winger Brenden Morrow could join the "Triple Gold Club" if he wins a Stanley Cup.

His nice NHL career included an Olympic gold medal back in 2010. At the moment, he has 575 points in 991 career regular season games and 46 points in 112 career playoff contests. Morrow isn't a significant contributor any longer, but he's had a good run that could include a rare accomplishment.

The Newark Star-Ledger is reporting that Phil Housley is at the top of GM's Ray Shero's list to become the new coach of the New Jersey Devils.

Housley is an assistant coach with the Nashville Predators at this time. The former star defenseman had 1,232 points in 1,495 NHL games during his career. Stay tuned.

Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault admitted that Ryan McDonagh had been playing with a broken foot for a few games.

McDonagh played a surprisingly low 17:33 seconds in Friday's Game 7 loss to Tampa Bay. The Rangers' captain left the game briefly but returned to the bench a little later on. The 25-year-old finished the postseason with three goals and nine points in 19 games.
May 29 - 11:29 PM

Ben Bishop turned aside all 22 shots he faced in Friday's 2-0 win against the Rangers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final.

Bishop allowed five goals on 26 shots in a Game 6 loss to New York, but he bounced back in a big way in a do-or-die game. He hasn't always looked good in the playoffs, but he has been dominant in two Game Sevens (against Detroit and now New York). The 28-year-old now has 12-8 record this postseason with a 2.15 goals-against-average and a .920 save percentage. The Lightning will now face the winner of the Western Conference Final between the Anaheim Ducks and Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Final.
May 29 - 11:19 PM

Alex Killorn scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 2-0 win in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final over the New York Rangers.

This Game 7 was very tight, as the teams were deadlocked in a 0-0 tie after 40 minutes of play. Killorn scored at the 1:54 mark of the third period to give the Lightning the lead and they never looked back. Tampa Bay is now heading to the Stanley Cup final. They will take on the winner of the Western Conference Final between Anaheim and Chicago. Killorn, 25, has been impressive through three playoff rounds in 2015. He has seven goals and 16 points in 20 postseason games this year. Ondrej Palat scored the insurance goal later on in the third frame for the Lightning.
May 29 - 11:00 PM

The groups for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey appear to have been set.

Group A will consist of Canada, Czech Republic, USA, and the Europe All-Stars. While Group B will consist of Finland, Russia, Sweden, and the U23-North Americans. Each nation will play a game against their groupmates with the top two teams in each group advancing to the semi-finals. The championship final will be a best-of-three series. The World Cup of Hockey is slated to run from Sept. 17th to Oct. 1st, with each game being played in Toronto's Air Canada Centre.
