Kris Letang (food poisoning) will not play on Monday.

Letang also missed Sunday's practice. Consider Letang day-to-day for now, although keep in mind that the Penguins have no motivation to bring Letang back this week if he's feeling anything less than 100%. After all, they've already secured the first seed in the Eastern Conference.

Jonathan Bernier is projected to be Colorado's starter on Thursday.

Bernier has a 1-1-0 record, 2.52 GAA, and .912 save percentage in two starts. He's a solid backup goaltender, but Semyon Varlamov is the clear number one in Colorado.
Oct 18 - 3:55 PM

Connor Hellebuyck will be the Jets' starting goaltender on Friday.

Winnipeg is in a stretch of just two games over the span of 11 days, so it's important to get Hellebuyck a start after Steve Mason played between the pipes on Tuesday. Otherwise Hellebuyck would be going nearly two weeks between appearances.
Oct 18 - 3:39 PM

Jaroslav Halak will start for the Islanders on Thursday.

Halak will be facing the rival New York Rangers. He has a 1-2-0 record, 2.62 GAA, and .907 save percentage in four contests this season.
Oct 18 - 1:38 PM

Alexander Steen (hand) has been taken off the injured reserve list.

Steen declared himself ready to return, so look for him to play on Wednesday. This will be Steen's first game of the campaign after suffering a broken hand during a preseason contest. He had 16 goals and 51 points in 76 contests last season.

Tuukka Rask left Wednesday's practice after Anders Bjork collided with him in front of the net.

Rask had to be helped off the ice, which is obviously concerning. To make matters worse, Rask wasn't able to return before the conclusion of the Bruins' morning skate. Boston hasn't spoken yet about Rask's status outside of the initial announcement that he had to leave the practice, but obviously missing him for any significant amount of time would be a significant problem for the Bruins.

Wayne Simmonds sustained a lower-body injury during Tuesday's game.

Simmonds left midway through the third period. The Flyers termed his absence as precautionary, but he'll be reevaluated on Wednesday. Consider him day-to-day for now. He has gotten off to a hot start with five goals, seven points, and seven penalty minutes in six contests.
Oct 18 - 5:23 AM

Roman Josi picked up a goal and an assist in Nashville's 4-1 win over Colorado on Tuesday night.

This was Josi's first game back in the lineup after he missed three games with a lower-body injury. His power play goal at the 13:30 mark of the second period made it 2-1 for Nashville. Josi also helped set up Colton Sissons' goal later on in the period to make it 3-1 for the Predators. Josi finished the game with a plus-1 rating, two penalty minutes, seven shots on goal and one hit in 22:30 of ice time. These were Josi's first two points of the 2017-18 season.
Oct 17 - 11:04 PM

Nikita Kucherov extended his goal-scoring streak to seven games in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss to New Jersey.

Kucherov became the second player in the last 30 years to score a goal in his first seven games of the season (Mario Lemieux is the other one). He also picked up an assist during tonight's contest. The Lightning forward has scored in every one of Tampa Bay's games this season. He has eight goals and 12 points in seven games this season. He's become one of the elite players in the NHL.
Oct 17 - 10:58 PM

Zach Werenski scored his third goal of the season as the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Winnipeg Jets 5-2 on Tuesday night.

Werenski's third period marker was a beautiful goal, as the 20-year old defenseman beat Steve Mason with a well-placed wrist shot top corner. He was arguably the best d-man on the ice, and will provide the Blue Jackets with a dangerous top defensive pairing alongside Seth Jones all season long. It was his fifth point in six games this year as he looks to top his 47-point rookie campaign.
Oct 17 - 10:50 PM

Steven Stamkos registered a goal and two assists in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the New Jersey Devils.

Stamkos helped set up goals by Vladislav Namestnikov (1-1) in the first period and Nikita Kucherov (3-3) in the second frame. Stamkos' goal at the 17:23 mark of the second period gave the Bolts a 4-3 lead at the time. Stamkos has been incredible this season, as he's picked up at least one point in each of Tampa Bay's seven games. He's up to two goals and 10 assists in seven games this season. He's a must-start in all fantasy leagues whenever he hits the ice.
Oct 17 - 10:43 PM

Drew Stafford scored a pair of goals in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Stafford's first goal opened the scoring just 2:45 into the game, while his second goal tied the game at four with just over four minutes remaining in regulation. Devils forward Kyle Palmieri, who also scored a goal in the game, added the winner in the shootout. Stafford now has three goals in his last two games since returning from a lower-body injury. He still isn't worth owning in any fantasy leagues.
