Derrick Pouliot will play for the Penguins on their western Canadian road trip, Coach Johnston has confirmed.

The former 2012 eighth overall draft pick has already had a cup of coffee with the Pens, playing eight games mostly in this past December. He's compiled a goal, three points, three blocks, six hits, and eight shots while averaging 17:33 of ice time per game. He's also amassed 23 points in 28 games down on the farm. Consider picking up the highly touted prospect as the Pens visit the Oilers, Flames, and Canucks.

Roman Josi scored a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-0 win over Pittsburgh.

Josi opened the scoring just 4:05 into the first period as he beat Penguins' goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury with a shot from the point. The 24-year-old also picked up an assist on Mike Fisher's third period power play goal. Josi now has nine goals and 24 assists in 49 games this season. He is one of the more underrated defensemen in the league.

Alex Galchenyuk scored both of Montreal's goals in their 3-2 loss to Arizona.

Galchenyuk gave the Canadiens a two-goal lead in the first period but things fell apart for after that. Montreal stopped firing pucks at the net and they didn't create many offensive opportunities as the game wore on. The 20-year-old now has 15 goals and 34 points in 49 games this season. He started the game at left wing on Montreal's second line, but he replaced Lars Eller (injured) at center on the Habs' third line in the final period. Galchenyuk has already set new career-highs in goals and points.
Feb 1 - 4:08 PM

Alex Ovechkin scored two goals and one assist in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the St. Louis Blues.

The goals were Ovechkin's 30th and 31st of the season. He is just the fifth player in NHL history to 30 goals or more in his first 10 seasons. Both of Ovechkin's markers were game-tying goals. The 29-year-old now has 48 points and a plus-11 rating in 50 games this season. Karl Alzner also scored for the Capitals.
Feb 1 - 3:50 PM

Alexander Steen scored two goals and an assist in Sunday's 4-3 win over Washington.

Steen opened the scoring 2:34 into the first period, and he added another goal in the second period to give his team a 2-1 lead. He also picked up the primary assist in Vladimir Tarasenko's game-winning goal in the third period. The 30-year-old has 17 goals and 26 assists in 47 games this season. Steen has 21 points in his last 13 games.
Feb 1 - 3:43 PM

Lars Eller left Sunday's game against Arizona with a lower body injury.

Eller was cross-checked into Arizona's net by Brendan Shinnimin and he came up limping. The 25-year-old came back into the game for one shift before exiting again. The Canadiens have confirmed that Eller won't be returning to the game.
Feb 1 - 3:20 PM

Ryan Suter is on the ice for the pre-game warmup.

The Wild are taking on the Canucks on Sunday, and Suter's availability was in doubt for this game. It appears as though he will be in Minnesota's lineup. The 30-year-old is an important piece of the Wild's roster. He averages over 29 minutes per game.
Feb 1 - 2:39 PM

Kevin Shattenkirk suffered a lower body injury against Washington on Sunday and he won't return to the game.

The severity of the injury isn't known just yet, but losing Shattenkirk for an extended period of time would be devastating for the Blues. The 26-year-old has 40 points and a plus-18 rating in 48 games this season. We'll keep you up to date on his status as soon as more information is made available.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have placed Evgeni Nabokov on waivers.

Nabokov has had an incredible career for a guy picked ninth round of the 1994 draft, but his numbers this season are just awful. The 39-year-old has a 3-6-2 record with a 3.14 goals-against-average and a .882 save percentage. It's unlikely that a team will put in a claim for the veteran goaltender.
Feb 1 - 12:17 PM

The Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly asking for a second round draft pick for Cody Franson.

Franson is a potential unrestricted free-agent at season's end and the Leafs are in the middle of a free-fall. They have lost nine games in a row and it looks like they have every intention of being sellers as the trade deadline approaches. The 27-year-old has six goals, 29 points and minus-7 rating in 49 games this season.

Evgeni Malkin won't play in Sunday's game against Nashville, but it's possible that he returns on Wednesday.

Malkin took part in practice on Saturday, but he isn't quite ready to return just yet. The Penguins will start their western-Canadian road trip in Edmonton on Wednesday and Malkin could be available then. I feel so much better," Malkin said. "I skated a couple of days. It's tough to watch the game on TV, but now there's a good chance I'll be back (soon)." The 28-year-old has 19 goals and 51 points in 45 games this season.
