Johan Hedberg will get the nod against the New York Rangers on Saturday.

The Devils have nothing left to play for, but this is still mildly surprising because Martin Brodeur also served as the backup on Thursday. Hedberg has a 2.69 GAA and .886 save percentage in 18 games this season.

Matt Cooke was assessed a seven-game suspension for his knee-on-knee hit on Colorado's Tyson Barrie on Monday night in Game 3.

He has the right to appeal the suspension to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman within 48 hours and if that ruling is upheld then he can appeal to a neutral arbitrator within seven days. Depending on what happens during that process, it could take too long for him to be able to return before the end of the first round. If Minnesota doesn't advance into Round 2 then Cooke's suspension will carry over into the 2014-15 regular season.

Ryan Getzlaf didn't play Wednesday night because of an upper-body injury.

The Ducks list him as day-to-day and it's unclear if he'll be ready to play in Game 5 on Friday night when the series shifts back to Anaheim. Neither team has been able to win on the road yet and having Getzlaf back would certainly help the Ducks' chances of keeping that trend going against the pesky Dallas Stars.
Apr 24 - 9:51 AM

Nick Foligno played hero for the Blue Jackets Wednesday as his overtime winner sealed a 4-3 victory over the Penguins.

In one of the best games of the young postseason, Columbus fell behind 3-0 in the first period of this contest only to tie it in the final minute before Foligno capped things off. Ryan Johansen, Brandon Dubinsky and Boone Jenner all scored goals for the Jackets, who have now drawn even with Pittsburgh in the series through four games.
Apr 23 - 10:05 PM

Ryan Murray (undisclosed) is officially listed as a scratch on Wednesday.

That was expected after Murray didn't take part in the pregame warmups. Murray also wasn't able to participate in the team's full Wednesday morning skate. He has an assist in three playoff games and was averaging 25:17 minutes per contest.
Apr 23 - 7:05 PM

Teemu Selanne will be a healthy scratch on Wednesday.

Selanne was given just two shifts in the third period of Game 3. The 43-year-old is a future Hall of Famer, but he's seen his role significantly reduced this season. He has already stated that this will be his last season.

Nathan MacKinnon is one of the three finalists for the Calder Trophy.

MacKinnon is competing with two Lightning forwards - Ondrej Palat and Tyler Johnson - for the rookie of the year award. MacKinnon is the frontrunner for this honor after he led all rookies with 63 points in 82 games. He also scored 24 goals, including five game-winners.

Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are expected to remain on the same line for Game 4 on Wednesday night.

They were reunited, along with Bryan Bickell, in Game 3 after seeing some time together earlier in the series. "There is just lots of confidence there. We know what to expect," Toews said. "We know that every shift we go out there that we can get that puck possession and create stuff. The more we create, eventually it’s going to go in." That trio helped the Blackhawks earn the Stanley Cup last year and they'll try to help Chicago even up their series with St. Louis on Wednesday.
Apr 23 - 9:39 AM

Ben Bishop won't get a chance to play in the postseason now that the Tampa Bay Lightning have been eliminated.

"Extremely frustrating, you can't really put it into words," Bishop said of missing the playoffs. "It's been real tough to have to watch." The Montreal Canadiens completed a four-game sweep of the Bolts on Tuesday night. Bishop missed the entire series because of an arm injury, which was reported as his elbow. He was excellent during the regular season and Tampa sorely missed his presence in the playoffs. Bishop posted a 37-14-7 record with a .924 save percentage and a 2.23 goals-against average.

Martin St. Louis powered the Rangers past the Flyers by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday night with a goal and an assist.

St. Louis deflected Dan Girardi's point shot past Ray Emery in the second period, and the goal stood up to be the winner. The Rangers steamrolled the Flyers much like they did at home in Game 1. St. Louis has put his post-trade struggles behind him and is riding a five game point streak where he has two goals and seven assists.
Apr 22 - 11:01 PM

Tuukka Rask fueled the gritty Bruins past Detroit 3-0 on Tuesday night by stopping all 23 shots directed his way.

Rask has allowed just two goals through the first three games of the series so far. He has a 2-1 record in the playoffs so far with a whopping .976 save percentage and 0.67 goals against average. Rask and the Bruins will hope to make it a 3-1 series lead on Thursday in Detroit. Meanwhile, the Wings and Bruins learned they are playing for the right to face Montreal in Round 2, as the Habs disposed of the Lightning earlier in the evening in four straight games.
Apr 22 - 10:52 PM

Carey Price made 20 saves on 23 shots as the Habs beat Tampa Bay 4-3 in Game 4 to sweep the Bolts and advance to the second round of the playoffs on Tuesday night.

Price does not have dazzling numbers these playoffs, with just a .912 save percentage and 2.50 goals against average, but none of that matters. The 26 year-old is 4-0 and has his team through to the next round. Price and the Habs will take at least a week off before facing off against the winner of the Detroit - Boston series.
