Chicago has called up Henrik Karlsson.

Karlsson has a 2.86 GAA and .898 save percentage in 18 games with AHL Rockford this season. Carter Hutton might start on Saturday so that Corey Crawford can get a game off. If that happens then there's a chance that Karlsson will serve as the backup so that Crawford can take the day off entirely.

Patrick Kane scored a hat trick in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Arizona Coyotes.

This game had a wild first period, as the two teams combined to score six goals in the first period and they went into the second frame tied 3-3. Kane netted one of those goals in the first 20 minutes and added one more in each of the last two periods. Kane finished the game with a plus-2 rating and five shots on goal in 21:09 of ice time. Kane is up to 23 goals and 63 points in 61 games this season.

Filip Forsberg scored a hat trick in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

Forsberg is on quite a run, as he's now scored hat tricks in back-to-back games. Forsberg tied the game at two at the 5:26 mark of the second and then gave his team a 3-2 lead just over five minutes later. The Predators forward finished off the hat trick by scoring into an empty net late in the game. He's up to 22 goals and 42 points in 60 games. Forsberg is on pace to hit the 30-goal mark for the second consecutive year.

Dougie Hamilton picked up a goal and two assists in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Hamilton registered assists on second-period goals by Mikael Backlund and Sean Monahan before scoring one of his own (on the power play) to extend Calgary's lead to 3-1 in the third frame. Hamilton finished the game with a plus-2 rating, two penalty minutes and five shots on goal in 19:57 of ice time. The Flames defenseman has quietly put together a solid fantasy year, as he's up to 10 goals and 39 points in 60 games.

Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 32 of 33 shots in the Rangers' 2-1 shootout win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Lundqvist gave up a goal midway through the first period, but he shut the door the rest of the way. He even turned aside William Nylander and Nazem Kadri in the shootout. Lundqvist has looked really strong over the last few weeks, as he's 7-1-1 in his last nine starts. He owns a 28-14-2 record with a 2.58 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage.

John Tavares scored a goal and an assist in Thursday's 3-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens.

The Islanders captain helped set up Anders Lee's goal early in the second period before putting the game to bed with an empty-netter late in the game. Tavares finished the game with a plus-2 rating and three shots on goal in 21:24 of ice time. He's up to 23 goals and 52 points in 60 games this season. Anthony Beauvillier also found the back of the net for New York.

Justin Schultz (concussion) took part in Thursday's practice.

Schultz is hoping to get the green light to return on Saturday. He's missed the Penguins' last three games.
Feb 23 - 1:53 PM

Kris Letang is dealing with an upper-body injury.

The Penguins didn't offer any further details other than to say that Letang is day-to-day. Unfortunately injury troubles are nothing new for Letang and this season has been no exception as he's been limited to 41 games so far. The Penguins are also missing blueliners Justin Schultz, Trevor Daley, and Olli Maatta though, so the timing of Letang's injury is particularly brutal. The silver lining is that the Penguins acquired Ron Hainsey, so at least they have a much needed reinforcement.

The Carolina Hurricanes have waived Bryan Bickell.

Bickell hasn't played since Oct. 30 as he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. He resumed practicing a month ago and if he clears waivers, he'll be sent to the AHL so that he can get back into the swing of things.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired Ron Hainsey from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a 2017 second-round selection and Danny Kristo.

The Hurricanes will retain half of Hainsey's remaining $2,833,333 annual cap hit. Hainsey is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He has four goals and 14 points in 56 contests this season and has averaged 22:20 minutes per contest. He'll be a big help to the Penguins given that they're missing defensemen Justin Schultz, Trevor Daley, and Olli Maatta due to injuries.
Feb 23 - 10:32 AM

Trevor Daley has undergone knee surgery and will miss six weeks as a result.

Daley was hurt during Tuesday's game. He has five goals and 19 points in 54 games this season. The Penguins' defense was already depleted due to the loss of Justin Schultz and Olli Maatta. With that in mind, the Penguins also acquired blueliner Ron Hainsey from Carolina.

Rickard Rakell scored two goals for the Ducks in Wednesday night’s 5-3 win over the Bruins.

The Duck and Bruins were swapping goals most of the night and with the game tied 3-3 and less than three minutes remaining, Rakell fired one past Tuukka Rask for the game winner. This snapped a five-game streak in which Rakell failed to score a single point. The last time he was on the board was February 9 against the Sabres with one goal and one assist.
