It's difficult to tell how much progress he's making, but Calgary Flames defenseman Mark Giordano was involved in practice on Saturday.

He only engaged in limited contact, yet even being a part of it is an intriguing development for a defenseman many labelled as a no-brainer Norris winner had he stayed healthy in the 2014-15 season. There's a long way to go, but players frequently fight through injuries in the playoffs, so you never know.

Alex Ovechkin gave the New York Rangers all they could handle in Game 2, yet the Washington Capitals ultimately fell 3-2, leaving the series tied at 1-1.

Ovechkin scored a sensational goal to give Washington a chance to tie the game. Overall, he had four SOG and nine hits during a very busy 19:49 TOI. He has been involved in three of the Capitals' four goals so far in this series.
May 2 - 3:33 PM

Henrik Lundqvist looked sharp as the New York Rangers evened their second-round series at 1-1 with a 3-2 win against the Washington Capitals on Saturday.

Lundqvist made some great saves, stopping 30 out of 32 overall in Game 2. His save percentage on Saturday (.938) actually matches his output so far in the postseason, as he's 5-2-0 so far. It won't be easy going into Washington with a tied series, though.
May 2 - 3:31 PM

Chris Kreider is proving to be a thorn in the side of opponents as the New York Rangers edged the Washington Capitals 3-2 in Game 2 to tie the series at 2-2.

Kreider scored one goal, took three SOG and delivered four hits on Saturday. Considering his run-in with Braden Holtby in Game 1, he's making some enemies in Washington.
May 2 - 3:28 PM

It appears as if the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers will stick with their Game 1 lineups in Game 2.

This is sensible since the game was less than two seconds away from going into overtime. You can feel comfortable with the mixes you had going into Saturday, then.

Nikita Kucherov scored the game-winning goal in the second period of overtime in Friday's 2-1 win over Montreal.

Habs rookie defenseman Greg Pateryn coughed up the puck to Valtteri Filppula, who then set up Kucherov for the winner. The 21-year-old was very dangerous in the overtime periods, as he also had a goal waved off in the first of the two extra frames. This is a huge win for the Lightning after they came into this match just two days removed from a game seven win against Detroit (Montreal had five days off). Kucherov's goal was his first of the playoffs. He now has five points in eight games this postseason. The Lightning lead the best-of-seven series 1-0.

At 43 years and 76 days old, Jaromir Jagr set a new record for the oldest player to ever score a goal in an IIHF World Hockey Championship game.

Jagr tipped home a Jakub Nakladal shot from the point to accomplish the feat. The hits just keep on coming for the NHL's fourth all-time leading scorer (1802). Only Gordie Howe (1850), Mark Messier (1887), and Wayne Gretzky (2857) sit ahead of Jagr on the list.

Jimmy Howard doesn't want the Detroit Red Wings to trade him over the summer.

Howard lost the starting job to Petr Mrazek for Detroit's playoff run, but he's willing to stick with the Red Wings. His plan is to compete for the starting gig during training camp. We wouldn't be surprised if Howard and Mrazek end up splitting the goaltending duties fairly evenly in 2015-16.
May 1 - 5:16 PM

Artem Panarin has agreed to a two-year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Panarin has excelled in the KHL with 26 goals and 62 points in 54 contests in 2014-15. He's never played professionally in North America so it remains to be seen how smoothly his adjustment period will go, but he's worth keeping a close eye on. With Chicago up against the cap, they might opt to trade a forward like Patrick Sharp over the summer and that could create a big opportunity for Panarin.
May 1 - 1:31 PM

Jiri Hudler suffered an undisclosed injury during Calgary's 6-1 loss to Anaheim on Thursday.

Hudler is being listed as day-to-day by the Calgary Flames. He led the squad with 31 goals and 76 points in 76 contests in the regular season and has another six points in seven playoff games. With Calgary already down 1-0 in the second round series, Hudler's absence could prove to be devastating.

Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf combined for eight points on Thursday night as the duo guided Anaheim to a 6-1 win in Game 1 against the Flames.

Perry had two goals and two assists, while Getzlaf had a goal and three assists as the Flames could come up with no answers to the dynamic duo. Perry now has 11 points in just five playoff games and the Ducks continue to impress in the post-season.
