Coach Dan Bylsma wouldn't commit to naming a starter for Game 5 on Thursday, but Pittsburgh-Tribune Review columnist Dejan Kovacevic believes it's time for the Penguins to turn to Tomas Vokoun.

Marc-Andre Fleury has allowed 14 goals on 102 shots over his past three games against the New York Islanders and he's permitted a whopping 40 goals in his last 10 playoff appearances. Vokoun was brought on board by the Penguins to ease Fleury's workload in the regular season, but his secondary purpose according to Kovacevic was to serve as a "Plan B" option in the playoffs. Bylsma appears to be considering a change and he spoke highly of Vokoun after Tuesday's 6-4 loss, where Fleury looked particularly shaky on some plays. "Certainly, Tomas Vokoun is a guy that can step in and play and has had success and won hockey games against this team, was successful this year," said Bylsma. "We're going to come out for Game 5 with a refocus." This doesn't confirm a change in goal, but there are probably many people who wouldn't be surprised if it happens.

Cam Ward steered aside all 30 shots he faced on Sunday as the Canes topped the Bolts 1-0 in an overtime thriller.

Ward, who came into the game on a four game losing skid, shut down the Bolts' high scoring offense to lead the Canes to a much-needed win. The topsy-turvy veteran is now 8-7-4 this season with a 2.09 goals against average and .924 save percentage.

Following his two-assist effort against Arizona on Thursday, LA's Captain put up a three-assist effort in the 5-4 shootout loss to Montreal.

Mark that six helpers over his last five games to boot. Very quickly his points are becoming commiserate with his talent level, now up to nine helpers and 11 points in 19 games.

Tough news for the Captain and the team, but at least he's not getting worse. Stay patient, Toews will return at some point.
Dec 4 - 5:17 PM

Jonathan Drouin will not play in Sunday's match with Carolina due to an undisclosed injury.

Tough break both all involved. The 21-year-old winger has three goals and 10 points in 19 games. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Dec 4 - 4:47 PM

Mark Scheifele will miss his second straight game on Sunday against the Blackhawks with a lower body injury.

Mike Smith was in goal for the 3-2 shootout loss of the Arizona Coyotes to the Columbus Blue Jackets Saturday night.

Smith was stellar for most of the night with a save percentage of .967, but he let the first two shootout goals slip past him in the loss. If he looked a little tired, he had every right to be as he faced 60 shots and blocked 58 of them. Each week someone has to lose, but Smith was hardly a bad value in this contest.

This was Matthews’ 11th goal of the season. Notably, the other scorer for the Leafs also recorded his 11th when James van Riemsdyk sunk a puck at the 11:30 mark of the second. The two shooters are tied at the top of the Leafs' leaderboard in terms of goals.
Dec 4 - 12:38 AM

Alex Pietrangelo had an assist on both St Louis Blues goals as they lost a 3-2 decision in overtime to the Winnipeg Jets Saturday night.

Pietrangelo’s assists were to Alexander Steen at the 5:16 minute mark and Dmitrij Jaskin’s at 7:26. This lifts him to nine assists for the season and 14 points—decent marks for a defenseman. Pietrangelo has scored points in four of his last five games.
