Raffi Torres won't appeal his suspension.

Torres was suspended for the rest of Round 2 for his illegal hit to the head of Kings forward Jarrett Stoll. Don't think that this means Torres agrees with the suspension, though; in fact the organization disagrees with it. Sharks general manager Doug Wilson released a statement on it, calling it "abundantly clear that this was a clean hockey hit." He also said it was an "inappropriate application" of Rule 48.1, where the head is the principal point of contact and target of the hit. Wilson said this suspension was "grossly unfair" to Torres.

Jordan Staal (leg) may return before the end of 2014 according to Hurricanes' coach Bill Peters.

Staal has missed the entire season because of a leg injury suffered in the pre-season. The target date for Staal's return is December 29th against Montreal. The 26-year-old had 15 goals and 40 points in 82 games for the Hurricanes last season.

Corey Perry (knee) will not play against the San Jose Sharks on Monday.

Perry practiced with the Ducks on Sunday and his return is imminent, but it won't be on Monday. Its been a rough season for Perry, who has also battled the mumps.

Jannik Hansen is not on the ice for Canucks' practice on Sunday.

Hansen collapsed on the bench after taking a hit in Saturday's game. It was a scary incident, but all signs point to Hansen being fine. Still, the injury has forced him to miss at least one practice. The 28-year-old has eight goals and 13 points in 32 games. There is no timetable for his return.

Corey Perry is skating with his Ducks' teammates on Sunday.

Perry has been out since December 7th because of a knee injury. He will be a welcomed addition to Anaheim's lineup. The sniper has scored an impressive 14 goals in 23 games this season. Originally, he was expected back in late December or early January. He was not skating on a particular line during line rushes.
Dec 21 - 1:30 PM

Boone Jenner will miss the next one-two months with a stress fracture in his lower back.

This is a big loss for the Blue Jackets as Jenner is a strong two-way player. Jenner had been hot of late as he had five goals during the Blue Jackets seven game winning streak that ended on Thursday. Reserve him for now.
Dec 21 - 7:22 AM

The Carolina Hurricanes have activated Alexander Semin (lower body) off the injured reserve list.

The move occurred after the Rangers game on Saturday so Semin is slated to play on Sunday when the Hurricanes and Rangers play the back end of the home-and-home series. Semin has been a huge disappointment this season with only six points as he has also been a healthy scratch from time-to-time. Put him in your lineup if that is what you would normally do.

Canucks coach Willie Desjardins said that Jannik Hansen is OK after collapsing on the bench.

Hansen needed to be helped to the bench after a hit in the second period, then collapsed briefly on the bench. He didn’t return to the game as a precaution, but passed the tests at the hospital. "Everything looks good. Real good," Desjardins said.

Brent Burns scored the game-winning goal in overtime to help the Sharks defeat the Blues on Saturday night 3-2.

Burns scored with 37.5 seconds left in the frame, a power play tally with assists from Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture. The goal was Burns’ 10th of the season, to go with 26 points, so he’s clearly been one of the more valuable defensemen from a fantasy perspective. Andrew Desjardins and Marc-Edouard Vlasic picked up the other markers.
Dec 21 - 1:31 AM

Zach Parise’s three-point night wasn’t enough to lead the Wild to a win in their 6-5 overtime setback against the Predators on Saturday night.

Parise, who scored twice and added an assist, has been a very effective player this season, now with 13 goals and 26 points in 26 games. The Wild captain should easily eclipse the 70-point mark for the first time since 2009-10. Thomas Vanek and Marco Scandella each scored and assisted. Jason Zucker potted the other goal. Charlie Coyle and Jason Pominville each tallied two helpers apiece.
Dec 20 - 11:19 PM

Sergei Bobrovsky was huge for the Blue Jackets, making 39 saves in a 3-2 shootout win against Chicago on Saturday night.

The Blue Jackets were outshot 41-19. Just another game in which the Blue Jackets needed their netminder to steal a win for them. Bobrovsky gave up a goal in the second and the other in the third. As long as he continues to do this, Columbus will have a chance. He has helped his team earn a point in nine straight contests. Overall, Bobrovsky has a 2.61 goals-against average and .921 save percentage.
Dec 20 - 11:08 PM

Sidney Crosby scored for the Penguins as they tripped up the Panthers on Saturday night 3-1.

Crosby’s goal was his first since Nov. 24, a span of nine games. The Penguins captain also fired seven shots on goal, which comprised about 21 percent of his team’s shots. He has 10 goals and 36 points — which ranks seventh in the NHL — on the season. Nick Spaling had a goal and an assist, while Derrick Pouliot potted his first career NHL goal in his first career game. Steve Downie had 17 penalty minutes and two assists.
