Updating a previous post, the St. Louis Blues announced they've re-signed Ian Cole to a two-year contract.

Cole played just 15 games for the Blues this season, registering one assist, 10 penalty minutes and a minus-4 rating. Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported the new deal will pay Cole $1.65 million over two years and is a one-way contract. Cole is unlikely to have much fantasy value going forward.

Pekka Rinne made 22 saves in Nashville's 5-0 romp over Colorado in Game 6 to knock out the Avalanche.

Rinne turned in his best performance of the series and posted his fourth career postseason shutout. The Predators move on to face a tough Winnipeg squad that beat Minnesota in five games. Rinne improved to 4-2 in the playoffs with a 2.60 goals-against average and .909 save percentage.

Sean Couturier played with a torn MCL in Games 5 and 6.

Couturier missed Game 4 because of the injury, but he returned to the fold quickly. He is not expected to require surgery in the off-season, but in regular season it probably would have amounted to a four-week recovery. Couturier was Philadelphia's best player in the series even after he was injured.

Sean Couturier had a hat trick and two assists in the Flyers' 8-5 loss to Pittsburgh in Game 6.

Couturier did everything he could to extend this series one more game, but he didn't get enough support from his teammates. Couturier missed Game 4 due to a knee injury, but he returned for Game 5 and managed to score the game-winning goal. While the Flyers' campaign is now over, this certainly was a remarkable series for Couturier and it comes after a breakout regular season where he scored 31 goals and 76 points in 82 games.
Apr 22 - 6:05 PM

Jake Guentzel scored four goals and registered an assist to the Penguins to an 8-5 win over Philadelphia and clinch their first round series.

The Penguins won the series in six games thanks in part to Guentzel's heroics. Guentzel caught fire in the second half of the contest, scoring in the final minute of the second period and adding another three in the third. That gave him four straight goals on his own before the Flyers finally ended his run. He was great throughout the series with six goals and 13 points in six games.
Apr 22 - 5:56 PM

The Pittsburgh Penguins have confirmed that Evgeni Malkin (leg) will miss Game 6.

As we previously reported, Malkin didn't join the team for their pregame warmups, so we anticipated him being ruled out of the game. However, it's official now so we're passing that along. It's certainly a big absence for the Penguins, but the silver lining is that Patric Hornqvist is returning from his upper-body injury.
Apr 22 - 3:10 PM

Mathew Barzal has been named as a finalist for the Calder Trophy.

Barzal is the heavy favorite to win after scoring 22 goals and 85 points in 82 games. In terms of points, only two players had better rookie campaigns than him in the salary cap era. They were Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby. Clayton Keller and Brock Boeser are the other two nominees for this year's Calder Trophy.
Apr 22 - 2:53 PM

Patric Hornqvist (upper body) is expected to return to the Penguins' lineup on Sunday.

Hornqvist has joined the Penguins for their pregame warmups and is skating on the top line with Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel. Getting Hornqvist back is a nice boost for the Penguins, but it's particularly helpful given that the Penguins are expected to be without Evgeni Malkin (leg) Sunday afternoon.
Apr 22 - 2:50 PM

Evgeni Malkin (leg) hasn't accompanied the Penguins for the pregame warmups ahead of Game 6.

Nothing has been made official yet, but it looks like Malkin will miss Sunday's afternoon contest. He was hurt during Friday's game and was termed as a game-time decision. He has three goals and five points in five contests in the first round series.
Apr 22 - 2:42 PM

Ivan Provorov (shoulder) will be in the lineup for Game 6 Sunday afternoon.

Provorov's status was originally uncertain as he crashed hard into the boards on Friday and might have hurt his shoulder in the process. He briefly returned to the game, but that was only for a matter of seconds. The Flyers didn't provide an update regarding Provorov on Saturday, further fueling speculation. It looks like in the end, he's still able to play though.
Apr 22 - 2:21 PM

Evgeni Malkin will be a game-time decision Sunday after suffering a leg injury Friday.

Malkin had his left ankle buckle in the loss to the Flyers Friday. This has been a different season for Malkin who missed only four games this season, the second time since 2008-09 that he managed to play in at least 70 games. We guess he was due for the injury.

Slava Voynov has completed his three year deal in the KHL and could attempt to return to the NHL next season.

Voynov is still suspended indefinitely by the NHL after he was charged with domestic violence and self-departed back to Russia in 2015 after pleading no-contest to the charge stemming from an October 2014 arrest. Voynov would need to apply to commissioner Gary Bettman for reinstatement and there is some question as to whether the Kings would want him back or not. "It’s so premature at this point, because those hurdles that he has to go through to be reinstated by the NHL don’t have anything to do with us," General Manager Rob Blake said. "To be honest with you, it’s so far away from our play right now that we haven’t had those discussions. Like I said, that’s going to be between him and his agent and his people representing him to be able to get back into that position before we could even get involved." Stay tuned.
