Updating a previous item, the Lightning have confirmed that they have signed Reto Suri to a one-year, two-way contract.

"He's a good skater and a smart player," GM Steve Yzerman said. "He's got good skills and good hands and we like him because he's a very responsible player. He's got good size. He's strong. He checks well. For us, he compliments some of the younger prospects we have coming. He's something we can really use." His deal with Tampa Bay won't kick in until the 2014-15 season because he wants to play another campaign with Zug in Switzerland's top league. Suri wants to continue to develop and to have the best chance possible to represent the Swiss national team at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Evgeni Malkin (lower body) will not be back in the lineup on Monday night against Anaheim.

Coach Mike Sullivan said that Malkin is listed as day-to-day. This will be the third straight game he has missed because of a "nagging" lower-body ailment.

Tyler Johnson appears to be getting his groove back.

"I feel good. I still think there is room for improvement, but I feel my body is feeling as good as it has all season," Johnson said. "I'm starting to get into the groove and starting to be able to play." He has looked more like his speedy self in two games following the All-Star break and he has collected two goals and two assists over those matches.

Ryan McDonagh won't play Monday night because of a concussion.

He suffered the injury on Saturday against Philadelphia and didn't practice on Monday morning as a result. A timetable for McDonagh's return is unclear at this time.

Malcolm Subban suffered a fractured larynx when he took a puck to the throat during warm-ups in Portland, ME on Saturday.

Per the Boston Bruins, "He [Subban] is in stable condition and will be sidelined indefinitely. The team will provide additional details when they become available." Subban was having another fine season with AHL Providence, sporting a 14-8-5 record with .911 save percentage and 2.46 GAA.

Kyle Okposo scored his third career hat trick during Sunday's 8-1 win over the Oilers.

Two power play tallies and an even strength goal, plus an assist, amounts to quite the day for Okposo. He's now up to 15 goals and 36 points in his walk year.
Feb 7 - 6:26 PM

Connor McDavid was the only reason Oilers had to smile during Sunday's 8-1 loss to the Islanders.

That's because McDavid batted home his seventh goal and 18th point of the season. He's not picked up points in three of his last four games, totaling two goals and six points in that span.
Feb 7 - 6:17 PM

Ben Scrivens swept the weekend with a 2-1 shootout win over Carolina on Sunday.

Scrivens turned away 34 of 35 shots faced, including all seven on special teams. For the weekend he stopped 57 of 59 shots in the wins over Carolina and Edmonton. Mighty impressive for the veteran netminder trying to reestablish himself in the NHL.
Feb 7 - 6:04 PM

Another impressive milestone was reached when Alex Ovechkin potted his 30th goal of the season in Sunday's 3-2 win over Philadelphia.

Make that 11 straight seasons to begin his illustrious career with at least 30 goals, only Wayne Gretzky (13) and Mike Gartner (15) have accomplished the feat. Might as well start creating Ovie's Hall of Fame plaque now.
Feb 7 - 5:54 PM

Eric Staal will play in his 900th game on Sunday against Montreal.

Perhaps this is a fitting time for the milestone as the Hurricanes' captain has been long rumored to be amenable to a move up north. However this has easily been Staal's worst campaign since he was a rookie in 2003-04. This season he's posted just nine goals and 30 points and a woeful shooting percentage of just 6.9%.
Feb 7 - 1:43 PM

Steve Mason will be between the pipes in Sunday's game against the Washington Capitals.

Mason is coming off a shootout loss to the New York Rangers on Saturday afternoon. The 27-year-old has a 12-12-7 record with a 2.68 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage this season. The game gets underway at noon EST, so adjust your fantasy lineups accordingly.
Feb 7 - 11:42 AM

Braden Holtby will get the start in Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Note that this game gets underway at 12:00 pm EST. Holtby is coming off a shootout win over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday afternoon. He has a 32-5-3 record with a 2.06 goals-against-average and a .928 save percentage this season.
