Pittsburgh Penguins GM Ray Shero and the agent for Pascal Dupuis are expected to start contract talks next week, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Rob Rossi.

According to Rossi, Shero wants to find out whether Dupuis is willing to re-sign with the Pens prior to free agency opening July 5. Dupuis is a top priority for Shero due to his scoring (45 goals over the last two seasons), place in the locker room and status as the preferred right winger of Sidney Crosby. However, Dupuis made just $1.5 million each of the last two seasons and will likely be seeking a hefty raise. With Crosby and Evgeni Malkin locked up to long-term, big-money deals and defenseman Kris Letang seeking one of his own, Shero is likely going to have to make some tough choices this summer.

Mike Green will not return from an upper-body injury on Tuesday night.

Green participated in the morning skate, but said afterward that he wouldn't play against Nashville. He is eyeing Thursday's match versus Buffalo for a return to the fold.

Wayne Simmonds will be out of action for 2-3 weeks because of an upper-body injury.

Simmonds had appeared in all 59 games this season, while recording 20 goals and 37 points. His injury explains why Philadelphia called up Oskar Lindblom from the minors on Monday night.
Feb 20 - 10:51 AM

Michal Neuvirth (lower body) will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks.

Neuvirth was injured on Feb. 18 against the New York Rangers. The Flyers acquired Petr Mrazek from Detroit on Monday night because Brian Elliott is also out with a long-term injury.
Feb 20 - 10:46 AM

Shea Weber (foot) remains on the sidelines and it's unclear if he will play before the end of the regular season.

Coach Claude Julien said that Weber isn't feeling comfortable yet with his rehab from a foot injury, so he has been shut down from skating again. The team won't put him back in the lineup until he is 100 percent and time is running out on the 2017-18 season. The veteran blueliner hasn't played since Dec. 16 and the Canadiens have 24 matches left on the schedule.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are reportedly interested in acquiring Michael Grabner from the New York Rangers.

The Penguins would seem to be a good fit for Grabner given his speed and scoring ability. His $1.65 million annual cap hit is also light enough that the Penguins shouldn't have an issue fitting him in. It might be that the Rangers will be reluctant to trade within their division, but given that the Rangers are now focused on the future, the return is expected to be their biggest concern. So at the end of the day, the big question is likely if the Penguins will be the top bidder for his services or not. If they are then it will be pretty exciting to see which line he ends up on.

Michal Neuvirth's lower-body injury will sideline him for the "long term," per Flyers GM Ron Hextall.

Neuvirth left Sunday's game due to the injury. With Brian Elliott also sidelined, the Flyers made the decision to acquire goaltender Petr Mrazek from Detroit on Monday. Given that we now know that both Neuvirth and Elliott won't be back for weeks, if at all for the rest of the regular season, it seems fair to assume that the Flyers will be leaning on Mrazek for a while.

John Gibson stopped all 13 shots he faced in two periods at Vegas on Monday, but he was unable to return for the third period due to a lower-body injury.

Gibson was hit behind the net with about three seconds remaining in the second period by Reilly Smith of the Golden Knights. The team reported he would be doubtful to return, and Ryan Miller ended up preserving the 2-0 shutout with 20 saves in the final 20 minutes. For now, consider Gibson day to day.

Viktor Arvidsson scored a pair of goals in Monday's 5-2 win over the Ottawa Senators.

Arvidsson gave the Predators a 2-0 lead at the 14:32 mark of the first period. He extended his team's advantage to 4-2 at the midway point of the second frame. He finished the game with a plus-2 rating, a game-high nine shots on goal and two takeaways in 18:43 of ice time. The two goals allowed Arvidsson to become the first Predators player to hit the 20-goal mark this season. He's up to 39 points in 56 games this season. He's accumulated 12 points in his last 13 games. Roman Josi, Ryan Ellis and Craig Smith also found the back of the net for Nashville in this one.
Feb 19 - 11:10 PM

The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired Petr Mrazek from the Detroit Red Wings for a conditional fourth round pick in 2018 and a conditional third round pick in 2019.

The move makes sense for the Flyers, as they're in the thick of the playoff race with both Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth sidelined due to injury. Mrazek was once considered the goalie of the future in Detroit, but his inconsistent play put an end to that theory. The 26-year-old has an 8-7-3 record with a 2.89 goals-against-average and a .910 save percentage this season. He'll be a restricted free agent at the end of the season. The move to Philadelphia will definitely give him a slight fantasy boost.

Nico Hischier has been selected as the first star of the week by the NHL.

Hischier produced a goal in each of his four appearances and he added three assists. The 19-year-old rookie has a five-game point streak and he is up to 39 points in 59 matches.

James Neal (illness) is questionable for Monday's game against Anaheim.

Neal skipped the morning skate because he was feeling under the weather. Vegas brought up Tomas Hyka and Stefan Matteau from the minors as potential fill-ins. Neal's status could be a game-time decision.
