After a great deal of speculation, the Tampa Bay Lightning will use a compliance buyout on Vincent Lecavalier.

"Vinny has been a significant reason for many of our past successes, including the 2004 Stanley Cup, and his contributions to the community are immeasurable," said GM Steve Yzerman in a statement. "The Lightning organization is indebted to Vinny; we thank him for all he has done here and we wish him well as he moves forward. After much internal deliberation, we believe this will prove to be a pivotal move for us as we strive to achieve our long term goal of competing at the highest level, year-in, year-out. The economics and structure of the CBA are necessitating this decision and we at the Lightning are excited at the newly created opportunities this presents to us." He had $45 million left over seven seasons on his 11-year, $85 million contract. The buyout will cost the Bolts $30 million over the next 14 years and Lecavalier will become an unrestricted free agent.

It looks like John Gibson (lower body) will at very least be available to serve as the backup goalie on Tuesday.

After all, the Ducks demoted Jhonas Enroth on Monday, so Gibson is now one of just two goaltenders on Anaheim's roster. Gibson last played on March 10 and before that he hadn't played since Feb. 20.

Jaromir Jagr (leg) is good to play Monday night.

Jagr's availability was in question after suffering the injury during Saturday's game. The 45-year-old forward has 14 goals and 41 points in 74 games this season.
Mar 27 - 12:33 PM

Tuukka Rask (lower body) believes he'll be available for Tuesday's game.

Rask couldn't play on Saturday, but he was back on the ice for Monday's practice. If Rask does get the start on Tuesday, he'll be trying to snap his four-game losing streak.
Mar 27 - 12:25 PM

Curtis McElhinney will play between the pipes on Tuesday.

McElhinney has a 2.61 GAA and .921 save percentage in 17 games. Leafs starting goaltender Frederik Andersen sustained an upper-body injury on Saturday, but he might not be out for long as he participated in part of Monday's practice.
Mar 27 - 12:21 PM

Scott Darling will probably play between the pipes on Monday.

That would give Corey Crawford a game off after his rough outing where he allowed four goals on 25 shots to the Panthers before being pulled. Darling has a 2.23 GAA and .927 save percentage in 30 games this season.

Conor Sheary suffered a lower-body injury in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Sheary left the game midway through the first period and did not return. The Penguins can't seem to catch a break injury-wise, as they're already without Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, Carl Hagelin, Olli Maatta, Trevor Daley and Ron Hainsey. Sheary is considered day-to-day for now.

Ottawa Senators top prospect Colin White has signed an amateur tryout with the Binghamton Senators.

White will join the "Baby Sens" immediately and that's where he'll stay for the rest of the 2016-17 season. He's heading to the AHL because Ottawa isn't willing to burn the first year of his entry-level contract. "We are excited to see Colin make the next step in his development in turning professional after a great college career," Sens GM Pierre Dorion said in a release. "We have spoken to Colin and his advisors at length and we are all in agreement that getting him on the ice to play games in the AHL is what is best for his growth at this moment. While our ongoing contract discussions are moving in a positive direction, we all know there is a small window left this season for Colin to gain professional experience." The 20-year-old was Ottawa's first round pick, 21st overall, in 2015. He scored 16 goals and 17 assists in 35 games at Boston College this season. White has a bright future ahead of him.

Kevin Bieksa (face) is expected to suit up in Sunday's game against the New York Rangers.

Bieksa took a stick to the face in Wednesday's game against Edmonton and the injury kept him out of Friday's tilt against the Jets. Assuming he plays, he'll be paired with Sami Vatanen. Bieksa has two goals and nine assists in 73 games.
Mar 26 - 8:44 PM

Tyler Seguin scored the game-winning goal in Sunday's 2-1 OT win over the New Jersey Devils.

It took Seguin just 20 seconds to finish the game in the extra frame. Jamie Benn and John Klingberg picked up the assists on Seguin's power play marker. Seguin finished the game with a game-high six shots on goal in 21:07 of ice time. The Stars forward is up to 25 goals and 45 assists in 75 games this season. Ales Hemsky also scored a power play goal for Dallas.
Mar 26 - 8:11 PM

Patrik Laine (illness) isn't expected to be in the lineup in Sunday's game against the Vancouver Canucks.

Laine didn't hop on the ice for the pre-game warmup, so it looks like he'll sit out tonight. The rookie has 34 goals and 61 points in 67 games this season. He's considered day-to-day for now.
Mar 26 - 7:37 PM

Micheal Haley will have a disciplinary hearing for roughing/sucker punching Nashville's Calle Jarnkrok.

Haley sucker punched Jarnkrok after the Predators forward hit him into the boards. Haley received a 10-minute match penalty for the incident. Don't be surprised if Haley gets suspended for multiple games.
