Rob Davison is now a Shark after signing a one-year deal with them.

The defenseman was originally picked by the Sharks in the 1998 draft. He spent the last season in Austria, where he had nine points and 54 penalty minutes. The 33-year-old will be ticketed for the minors.

Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic says that his "intention" is to try to re-sign Ryan O’Reilly.

O’Reilly has one more year left on a deal that carries a $6 million cap hit. Many have speculated he could be a big trade chip during this year’s trade deadline. Ultimately, whether O’Reilly gets moved will likely be determined this offseason. "Ryan is part of our core," Sakic said. "My intention is that at the end of the year I want to try and re-sign him. That will be the goal with Ryan. That being said, we're not going to want that same distraction going on all year next season, either. But he's a guy I want to have here. And hopefully we can work something out this summer." The 24-year-old has 10 goals and 36 points this season.

Zbynek Michalek is drawing "significant interest" on the trade market, according to Coyotes general manager Don Maloney.

This despite Michalek dealing with an upper-body injury that has sidelined him since Feb. 14. Michalek is improving and should be able to play soon, so it hasn’t scared off teams. The 32-year-old has eight points this season.

Michael Del Zotto scored the game-winning goal — shorthanded — for the Flyers in their 4-2 win over the Rangers on Saturday night.

Del Zotto kept his team’s faint playoff homes alive, while knocking off the team that drafted and then traded him away. He has eight goals and 25 points this season, with four points over his past five games. Matt Read, Michael Raffl and Wayne Simmonds (empty netter) got the other goals. Sean Couturier had two helpers.

Carey Price kicked aside 30 shots as he and the Canadiens blanked the Maple Leafs 4-0 on Saturday night.

Price has won four games in a row, giving up a total of five goals during that span. He is clearly ahead in the Vezina race, now with a league-leading 36 wins, 1.88 goals-against average and .936 save percentage. He also has six shutouts. In fact, he might be the frontrunner for the Hart Trophy, too.

Antoine Vermette has been traded from the Coyotes to Blackhawks for a first-round pick and prospect Klas Dahlbeck.

Vermette was one of the more highly sought after players as a solid faceoff center who can play an adequate two-way game in more of a middle-six role. And after losing Patrick Kane, Chicago was in the market for a forward, though Vermette won’t be nearly as dangerous from an offensive perspective. He has 13 goals and 35 points this season. Vermette could end up centering the team's second line, or perhaps third, if coach Joel Quenneville wants to keep Brad Richards as the 2C. Either way, Chicago becomes a deeper team and Vermette's fantasy prospects improve.

The Ducks are getting calls on Matt Beleskey, according to ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun.

Of course, the complication is that Beleskey, an unrestricted free agent, has been important to the Ducks this season, and they have hopes of going far in the playoffs. Beleskey has 21 goals and 30 points, in what has been a career season. The forward is out with a shoulder injury but has recently started to skate again.

Zdeno Chara scored on the power play and assisted in the Bruins’ 4-1 win over the Coyotes on Saturday night.

Chara still makes his presence felt in a positive way for Boston, even if his offensive production has slowed at 37. The goal was just his fifth of the season — first since Feb. 16 — and he now has 19 points. Fantasy owners will have to reel back their expectations next season. Patrice Bergeron and Milan Lucic matched Chara’s night with a goal and an assist of their own. Brad Marchand picked up the other goal.
Feb 28 - 8:19 PM

John Tavares scored his 30th goal of the 2014-15 season on Saturday, but the New York Islanders lost to the Carolina Hurricanes by a score of 5-3.

That represented his 65th point of this campaign, at least briefly putting him alone at first place in NHL scoring. That could change as Saturday goes along, but the bottom line is that he's having another strong season.
Feb 28 - 8:09 PM

Cory Schneider improved to 23-23-6 as the New Jersey Devils beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-0 on Saturday.

He stopped all 33 shots for his fourth shutout of 2014-15 and second in his last four games. His record isn't great, but a .927 save percentage argues that he deserves better.
Feb 28 - 7:43 PM

Pekka Rinne and the Nashville Predators are still struggling a bit lately, including Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Rinne only has one win in his last five starts (1-3-1), as he allowed four goals on 25 shots against the Red Wings. His overall stats are still Vezina-worthy, however, so fantasy owners shouldn't be too worried just yet.
Feb 28 - 6:20 PM

"The Monster" Jonas Gustavsson continues to be sharp since returning from injury issues, as he was a big factor in the Detroit Red Wings' 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators.

Gustavsson stopped 37 out of 40 shots for his third win of the season. He's stopped 65 out of 69 shots since returning to action, making it easier to justify demoting Petr Mrazek.
