Dustin Penner has signed a one-year/$2 million deal with the Anaheim Ducks.

Penner was an up-and-coming forward when he decided to sign a five-year/$21.25 million offer sheet with the Edmonton Oilers. The move angered then Ducks GM Brian Burke, who ultimately let Penner walk. Penner never developed as the Oilers had hoped and although he has enjoyed some high points in his career, we're not confident that he'll end up getting regular minutes on either of Anaheim's top two lines.

Anders Nilsson has been demoted to the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL.

He has had an up and down season with the Oilers, but he hasn't won a game since Dec. 11. Edmonton has brought up Laurent Brossoit to take Nilsson's spot on the roster.

Vancouver has confirmed that Brandon Sutter sustained a fractured jaw on Tuesday night.

However, there still isn't a timetable set for his return. Sutter will be evaluated further in Vancouver, so he won't play Wednesday night. It's been a tough season for Sutter, who has been limited to 20 games because of injury.
Feb 10 - 1:39 PM

Christian Ehrhoff has been placed on waivers.

He recorded an assist in Tuesday's blowout win over Boston to give him 10 points in 40 games this season.
Feb 10 - 12:17 PM

Jaden Schwartz (ankle) has been activated from injured reserve.

This paves the way for his return to the lineup on Friday when the Blues visit the Florida Panthers. Schwartz hasn't played since Oct. 20 after he had surgery on his ankle.
Feb 10 - 11:53 AM

Rick Nash (leg) will remain out of the lineup on Wednesday.

Nash didn't participate in Tuesday's practice. It will be his seventh straight contest on the sidelines. On a more positive note, Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said that Nash is "almost pain free when he's walking around," but the doctors wanted him to stay off the ice for a couple more days. He isn't expected to play on Friday against the Kings either.
Feb 10 - 9:24 AM

Joe Thornton scored a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 2-0 win over Chicago.

Jumbo Joe had a hand in both of San Jose's markers in this one. He assisted on Patrick Marleau's power play goal in the second period and he added a goal of his own with just over a minute remaining. The 36-year-old has picked up at least one point in 13 of his last 14 contests. Thornton has 12 goals and 46 points in 52 games this season.
Feb 10 - 12:09 AM

Tyler Seguin picked up a pair of assists in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Minnesota Wild.

Seguin had the primary assist on Alex Goligoski's first period goal, and he also set up Patrick Eaves' second period goal. The 24-year-old has 28 goals and 58 points in 54 games this season. The Stars got the game-winning goal from defenseman John Klingberg at the 2:39 mark of OT.
Feb 9 - 11:34 PM

Marcus Johansson scored a goal and two assists in Washington's 5-3 win over the Nashville Predators.

This was his first game back in the lineup after he missed the last four contests with an upper-body injury. Johansson picked up the primary assist on Tom Wilson's second period goal. He added a goal of his own in the third period to give Washington a 4-1 lead, and he assisted on Alex Ovechkin's empty net goal. The 25-year-old has 14 goals and 33 points in 45 games this season.
Feb 9 - 11:16 PM

Johnny Gaudreau will indeed be scratched from Tuesday's match with Toronto.

Wow. Didn't see that coming. Gaudreau has posted 21 goals and 49 points in 51 games for the Flames this season, so management is surely making an example out of him and Sean Monahan.
Feb 9 - 8:23 PM

Artemi Panarin will miss Tuesday's match with San Jose, and Jiri Sekac will place in his place.

The likely Rookie of the Year Panarin has posted 52 points in 58 games this season, so it'll be interesting to see how the Blackhawks play in his absence tonight.
Feb 9 - 8:03 PM

Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan and Lance Bouma might be scratched Tuesday night for disciplinary reasons, according to reports.

That would knock out two-thirds of the top line if Gaudreau and Monahan were held out of the lineup. The Flames may play against Toronto with 11 forwards and seven defensemen. Stay tuned for more on this as the story develops.
