There's a chance that Dustin Penner will end up playing alongside Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.

Before Penner left the Ducks in 2007, the trio had been working very well together. "Yeah, I think he had great success playing with Getzy and Corey," Ducks GM Bob Murray said. "We don't know if the chemistry will still be there but I would imagine it is and hopefully it will be. We're all probably kind of looking forward to trying again because we've had a rotating group of people at that left wing position since he left. It’d be nice if it worked and it was kind of stable for a change." If Penner plays on the Ducks top line, it would obviously be a big boost to his fantasy value.

Kari Lehtonen made 27 saves in Dallas' 2-0 win over Vancouver on Wednesday.

Lehtonen was named the game's first star for his effort. The 31-year-old set the tone early when he robbed Canucks' forward Radim Vrbata 36 seconds into the game. Lehtonen made several big saves throughout the evening to ensure Dallas would collect the two points tonight. He has now won three of his last four starts and has a 12-7-5 record with a 2.97 goals-against-average and a .906 save percentage.

Ottawa goalie Craig Anderson turned in a gem in New Jersey Wednesday night during a 2-0 shutout of the Devils.

Anderson made 34 saves. He nearly scored an empty-net goal, too. His shot from his own goal dribbled just wide to the right with 51.8 seconds remaining in the third period. With a second left in the third, Kyle Turris ended up with the empty-netter, his second goal of the game. Despite Turris' goals, however, it was the New Jersey offense that controlled most of the play in this one. The Sens were stuck in their zone for most of the game. The Devils (11-16-6) outshot Ottawa 34-16, but Anderson could not be beaten. It was his best performance of the season and improved his record to 7-8-4. His goals-against average is now 2.45 and his save percentage is .929.

David Krejci will suit up for the Bruins on Wednesday against the Wild.

The Bruins center will be on the ice against the Wild Wednesday, so make sure to get him in your lineup. He was skating with Milan Lucic and Seth Griffith in warmups. In 11 games this season, Krejci has three goals and seven assists and will look to continue on his near point-per-game pace starting Wednesday. Matt Fraser will now move to the press box and serve as a healthy scratch to make room for Krejci.

David Krejci (groin) isn't on injured reserve, according to Boston's official website.

Coach Claude Julien called Krejci a "possibility" for Wednesday's game against Minnesota and it looks like he could be back if taking him off injured reserve is any indication. The pregame warmup should tell us more. Krejci has missed 17 of Boston's last 19 games because of a groin injury.

John Gibson (groin) has been assigned to the minors.

He hasn't played since Oct. 30 because of a groin injury, which he suffered on Nov. 2 during warmups at Colorado. With Frederik Andersen and Ilya Bryzgalov in the fold for Anaheim, Gibson will be afforded some time to play in the minors. We wouldn't completely rule him out from returning to the NHL at some point, though.
Dec 17 - 5:55 PM

Pittsburgh has summoned Jeff Zatkoff from the minors.

Marc-Andre Fleury is being tested for the mumps, so Zatkoff will join the big club as a precaution. He could back up Thomas Greiss on Thursday if Fleury is unable to play.

James Neal has been fined $2,000 for embellishment.

He's the first player that the NHL has given a fine to since they decided to crack down harder on embellishing and diving this season. Neal reportedly received a warning on Nov. 13 against St. Louis, but no penalty was called on that play. He was fined after he received a penalty on Dec. 13 versus San Jose.

Calgary has announced a multi-year contract extension for head coach Bob Hartley.

The Flames have lost six games in a row, but they have been surprisingly successful this year. The club owns a 17-14-2 record to rank them 15th overall in the NHL heading into Wednesday's action. Hartley is coaching in his third season with Calgary.

Eddie Lack will be in goal for Vancouver against Dallas on Wednesday.

He hasn't played since Dec. 7 when he was beaten four times on 45 shots in a 4-3 overtime loss to Ottawa. Lack has a 2-3-2 record with a .911 save percentage and a 2.77 goals-against average this season.
Dec 17 - 3:37 PM

Chris Kunitz (foot) participated in Wednesday's practice.

"He was back to take all drills except for contact drills, so that was the normal step," coach Mike Johnston said. "So he was into really the first step of coming back into practice. Tomorrow he'll do the game-day skate full out, then I don't expect that he's going to be playing at all tomorrow. And Friday will give us another chance to get a good quality practice for him." Kunitz has been out of commission since Nov. 29 with a foot fracture, but he's hoping to resume playing before Christmas.
Dec 17 - 2:48 PM

Sidney Crosby (mumps) skated on his own before practice on Wednesday.

"He looked good on the ice. It was a full skate," said coach Mike Johnston. "He worked on some extra conditioning drills." He isn't infectious anymore and has resumed skating, so it probably won't be long before he's back in the lineup. Thursday's match against Colorado is a possibility.
