Head coach Joel Quenneville has inked a contract extension with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The team will retain Quenneville services through the 2016-17 campaign. The decision to re-sign Quenneville was a no-brainer for Chicago. He's led them to the Stanley Cup twice in the span of just four years, including their recent six-game victory over the Boston Bruins. He's coached in 1,211 regular season games with St. Louis, Colorado, and Chicago and has a 660-389-77-85 record.

Richard Bachman will be in goal for Edmonton on Monday against Colorado.

That shouldn't come as a surprise after he stopped all 29 shots fired his way on Friday in a 4-0 shutout win against Dallas. Bachman is being rewarded with a second straight start

Tyler Johnson will be absent from the lineup on Monday due to an upper-body injury.

He has notched one goal and one assist in his past eight games, but it's been a spectacular season for the sophomore forward. He has 26 goals and 67 points in 74 matches. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Mar 30 - 12:23 PM

Jason Garrison will be out of action for three-to-four weeks with an upper-body injury.

He was injured in Saturday's game against Detroit after logging just 41 seconds of ice time. Garrison has 30 points and a plus-27 rating in 70 games this year.
Mar 30 - 12:14 PM

Alexander Steen (lower body) won't play Monday night against Vancouver.

He suffered a lower-body injury on Saturday and left the game after seeing just four shifts. Steen has 24 goals and 62 points in 73 matches this season. Olli Jokinen will be in the lineup instead.

Roberto Luongo aggravated a shoulder injury on Saturday in Montreal, but the Panthers hope to have him back in goal for Tuesday's game against Boston.

Marc-Andre Fleury made 30 saves in Sunday's 3-2 shootout win over San Jose.

Fleury didn't allow a goal in either the first or third period but he did give up two goals on just seven shots in the second frame. It's the first time in three games that Fleury allows less than three goals. The 30-year-old has posted a better goals-against-average and save percentage than he did one year ago. Fleury improves his record to 33-17-8 on the season. He also has a 2.26 goals-against-average and a .921 save percentage in 2014-15.
Mar 29 - 10:41 PM

Jonathan Toews scored a goal in Chicago's 4-3 win over Winnipeg.

The Blackhawks trailed 3-2 going into the third period but Patrick Sharp tied the game and Toews scored the game-winner with 31 seconds left in regulation. The fact that Toews scored the goal in his hometown of Winnipeg will make it that much more special for him. The 26-year-old has 25 goals and 62 points in 75 games. With the win, the Blackhawks now pull one point ahead of Minnesota for third place in the Central division. Toews has now hit the 25-goal mark for the sixth time in his career. Andrew Shaw and Brad Richards also found the back of the net for Chicago in this game.
Mar 29 - 10:10 PM

John Gibson stopped 26 of 27 shots in Sunday's 2-1 win over New Jersey.

Gibson blanked the Devils until Dainius Zubrus beat him with under four minutes remaining in the game. New Jersey isn't an offensive powerhouse but Gibson still deserved credit for playing a solid game. The 21-year-old has a 13-7-0 record with a 2.58 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage. Gibson probably won't be the Ducks' starting goaltender come playoff time but he remains the goaltender of the future.
Mar 29 - 9:55 PM

Jaromir Jagr scored two goals in Florida's 4-2 win over Ottawa.

The things Jagr has accomplished at his age are quite remarkable. The 43-year-old has recorded a point in four straight games and he has four goals and 12 points in 14 games since being acquired from New Jersey. Jagr scored the game's first goal in the second period and he also extended Florida's lead to 3-1 in the final frame. He has 15 goals and 41 points in 71 games this season. It's already been reported that Florida is interested in bringing the veteran winger back next year. Jussi Jokinen and Dave Bolland also scored for the Panthers.

David Pastrnak scored a goal and an assist in Sunday's 2-1 overtime win over Carolina.

Pastrnak picked up the primary assist on Ryan Spooner's first period goal. He scored the game-winner in overtime to give the B's two huge points in the standings. The 18-year-old has struggled with consistency in his first NHL season but that's normal for someone his age. Pastrnak has 10 goals and 25 points in 40 games in 2014-15. The future is looking extremely bright for Boston's young forward.
Mar 29 - 8:14 PM

John Tavares has three assists in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Tavares helped set up goals by Ryan Strome and Kyle Okposo in the first period and Frans Nielsen in the second period. The 24-year-old has emerged as a legitimate Hart Trophy candidate this season. Tavares has 34 goals and 77 points in 77 games this season. He will come close to reaching his career-high of 81 points.
