Sheldon Souray will be out of action for four-to-six months after tearing a ligament in his right wrist.

He suffered the injury while doing some off-ice training in July and had surgery on July 25. The four-to-six month timetable could place his return in December or January. Souray had 17 points, 52 penalty minutes and a plus-19 rating in 44 games last season.

Leon Draisaitl scored his first career goal on Anton Khudobin of the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night.

And it was the eventual game-winner too. David Perrod made a pretty move to come off the left wall and found Draisaitl all alone in front of the net. Khudobin stopped the initial shot, but the rookie stuck with it and banged home a memory. The goal made it 4-3 with 7:05 left to go, and the Oilers went on to win 6-3.

Jordan Eberle scored twice and added a helper in Edmonton's 7-3 win over Carolina.

He was a force to be reckoned with Friday night, causing turnovers, like for his first goal. And cleaning up others, like on his second goal. The assist probably didn't need to be awarded, but you won't hear him or his fantasy owners complaining either. He skated 18:55 with 3:22 on the powerplay.

Ben Scrivens shut enough of the door to secure victory on Friday night over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Edmonton and Carolina traded goals until midway through the third, but then Scrivens and the Oilers took over, winning 6-3. It's tough to blame Scrivens for any of the goals, he was either heavily screened or the scorer took a great shot. But when his defense gave him a chance, he made the saves.
Oct 25 - 2:57 AM

Jeff Skinner scored his first of the season in Edmonton on Friday night, but it wasn't enough as Carolina lost 6-3.

Skinner ripped one by Ben Scrivens' left ear to tie the game at two late in the second. He skated just 17:42 with just 42-seconds of powerplay time. He now has 98 career goals.
Oct 25 - 2:47 AM

Matt Duchene was a primary factor in Colorado's 7-3 win over Vancouver on Friday night.

His feed to Jarome Iginla was just filthy to tie the game at one late in the first. Duchene's dish to Jamie McGinn to tie the game at two in the second was just as pretty. It was his burst of speed to create a breakaway for himself in the third that was jaw-dropping, he scored to make it 5-2. Through eight games he now has seven points (three goals). It's like he's good at hockey, or something.
Oct 25 - 2:27 AM

It was a brutal game for Eddie Lack in Denver on Friday night, as he surrendered all seven of Colorado's goals in the 7-3 loss.

Six of the seven goals came at even strength as only Erik Johnson's scored Colorado's only PPG in the second to go up 3-2, and for good. Even though the Avs outshot the Canucks 47-28, Lack just stunk and his performance was the key difference in the game. And with Ryan Miller having played the previous night, the net was Lack's to make a statement with.
Oct 25 - 2:06 AM

Corey Perry had another great night, netting a pretty goal and assist as well as screening for a third Anaheim goal in their 4-1 win over Columbus on Friday night.

Perry took Sami Vatanen's slap-pass by the goal line and dangled his way across Sergei Bobrovsky's crease for a dazzling powerplay goal to open the scoring 88-seconds in. Seven minutes later he was the screen for Vatanen's PPG. Later he set up Devante Smith-Pelley slick redirection to make it 3-1 by mid game. Perry just might be out for another MVP trophy this season.
Oct 25 - 1:44 AM

Jonathan Drouin scored his first career goal on Ondrej Pavelec, in Friday night's win in Winnipeg.

Credit Nikita Kucherov for the nifty assist as he drifted to the left while behind Pavelec, taking the netminder's focus away from the cutting Drouin who slammed home the one-timer. Perhaps Stamkos isn't the only teammate the young phenom has chemistry with. Drouin also assisted on Stamkos's goal to open the scoring on way to a 4-2 win.

Nikita Kucherov set a career high for points in a game with his three helpers on Friday night in Winnipeg.

All three were beauties as Tampa Bay took the game over in the second period. Kucherov now has five points (all assists) through eight games this season. He skated 15:43 including 2:18 on the powerplay. The Bolts would go on to win 4-2.
Oct 25 - 12:28 AM

Ondrej Pavelec had another bad game Friday night, getting lit up by Tampa Bay for four goals on just 18 shots.

In just two periods as well. It can be argued that Pavelec was let down by his defense, allowing Tampa to whip around the puck as they desired. But upon further review it looks like Tampa's plan was to force Pavelec to move laterally, which he failed to do quickly enough on all four goals. He was replaced by Michael Hutchinson to begin the third. Winnipeg outshot Tampa 42-27 in the 4-2 loss.
Oct 25 - 12:02 AM

Ben Bishop was outstanding in Winnipeg on Friday night, stopping 40-42 shots sent his way.

Winnipeg also had five powerplays, including a 5-on-3 late in the first. However they're powerplay goal came in the second. No matter the order, Bishop was sharp and could have been forgiven if he let in five or six instead. Tampa won 4-2 mainly due to his efforts.
