Boone Jenner was very impressive on Wednesday as he played on the top line alongside Brandon Dubinsky and Marian Gaborik.

The center played on the left side with Dubinsky in the middle and the trio led the Blue Jackets to a 5-4 win over Metropolitan division rivals, the Carolina Hurricanes as Jenner chipped in with a goal and an assist. "It was a very good line, a good mix," Columbus coach Todd Richards said. "I thought Dubi was really going hard tonight, really had a lot of jump. Gaborik has that ability to hurt you if you give him space, and he got into open space a few times. And Boone worked so hard. He really brought a good element to the mix." Jenner was drafted in the second round of the 2011 Draft and brings an all-round game to the Blue Jackets. His hard play all over the ice gives him a shot to make the team but he could probably use the ice time in the minors to start the season as he is likely to get limited minutes at best at the NHL level. He is going to be a good one as he is likely to be a second or third line center when he is at the peak of his game. Pass on him this

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy to a three-year/$10.5 million contract extension.

The move could clear the way for Ben Bishop to be dealt as the Lightning think that Vasilevskiy is their goaltender of the future. He was terrific in the playoffs against the Penguins taking the eventual champs to seven games in a tough Eastern Conference final. Look for Vasilevskiy to split the net with Bishop if both are with TBay next season and to play 60 games if Bishop is traded. Draft him fairly high and higher if it's a keeper league.

Dallas has agreed to terms with Dan Hamhuis on a two-year contract.

His new deal has an AAV of $3.75 million. Hamhuis had three goals and 13 points in 58 games last season with Vancouver.
Jul 1 - 2:00 PM

Victor Hedman has signed an eight-year/$63 million contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

It's a bit less than what Steven Stamkos signed for a couple of days ago as Steve Yzerman has locked up his top two players. Hedman is a top-five defenseman in the NHL and should go in the top-five rounds in most drafts as he has the capability to get 55-60 points.
Jul 1 - 1:35 PM

The New York Islanders have signed Jason Chimera to a two-year contract.

Chimera wanted to stay in Washington but when the Capitals failed to come to a deal with the veteran, he moved on to divisional rival, the Islanders. Chimera had 20 goals and 40 points last season so he has some fantasy value as he also can play on the power play. It's a great signing for the Islanders.
Jul 1 - 1:13 PM

Jake Allen has agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $17.4 million.

"I'm so excited to be a Blue for the next five years. This is where I want to be," Allen said. "This is the place that drafted me and made me the goalie I am today. I want to be a Blue forever and I'm looking forward to being able to stay here for the next five years. With the contract out of the way, now I can focus on hockey and worry about winning a championship." Allen will be Blues' number one netminder next season after Brian Elliott was traded at the 2016 NHL Draft.

Minnesota has agreed to terms with Eric Staal on a three-year deal.

The contract has an annual average value of $3.5 million. Staal produced just six points in 20 appearances with the Rangers after he was acquired from Carolina. He had 10 goals and 33 points in 63 matches with the Hurricanes prior to the move.
Jul 1 - 12:31 PM

Troy Brouwer has signed a four-year contract with Calgary.

His new deal has an annual average value of $4.5 million. Brouwer had 18 goals and 39 points in 82 matches with St. Louis last year.
Jul 1 - 12:27 PM

Kyle Okposo has inked a seven year/$42 million deal with the Buffalo Sabres.

Okposo will go from playing the wing with John Tavares to playing alongside Jack Eichel. He had 22 goals and 64 points in 79 games and will likely do just as well with the Sabres. Draft him accordingly.
Jul 1 - 12:26 PM

Brian Campbell has signed a one-year deal with Chicago for $2 million.

The Blackhawks were expected to bring back Campbell and now the deal is official. That's a great bargain pickup for the veteran defender, who had six goals and 31 points in 82 games last season with Florida to go with a plus-31 rating. He will be a great addition to Chicago's top-four defense.
Jul 1 - 12:21 PM

The Boston Bruins have signed David Backes to a one-year contract.

No terms have been announced but Backes will give the Bruins the same kind of play that Milan Lucic gave them a couple of seasons ago. He likely will end up on one of the top two lines and while he has been a diminishing fantasy asset the last couple of years, this could revitalize him and get him back to the 25 goal, 50 point mark. He is worth a late middle round pick in most pools.
Jul 1 - 12:19 PM

Milan Lucic has officially signed with the Edmonton Oilers.

As previously reported, Lucic has agreed to a seven-year contract worth $42 million. He tallied 20 goals and 55 points in 81 games with Los Angeles last year.
