Sean Couturier was the star of the game for Philadelphia Friday night even if he is not fully recovered from a knee injury.

Couturier scored the winning goal in Game 5 with only 1:15 left in regulation to stave off elimination and keep the Flyers' season alive. He also spearheaded the Philly penalty kill that was a perfect five-for-five on the night. Of Couturier, Flyer captain Claude Giroux had the following to say: "I’ve got a lot of respect for that guy. He’s one of our leaders, and you can put him in any situation … and it’s impressive." Alhtough he is still dealing with some knee pain, Couturier should continue to produce no matter where he appears in the lineup.

Patrice Bergeron (upper body) is taking part in Boston's morning skate Saturday.

Bergeron missed Game 4 because of an upper-body injury, but it looks like he has a legitimate chance to play in Game 5. He's skating on the top line with Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak during line rushes. We'll keep you up to date on his status.
Apr 21 - 10:43 AM

Andrew Hammond stopped 44 of 45 shots in Friday's 2-1 Game 5 win over the Nashville Predators.

This is shaping into one of the best stories of the year with Hammond stepping in for an injured Jonathan Bernier, who was replacing an injured Semyon Varlamov. Hammond made 20 saves in the final period to keep the Avs in the game long enough for them to come away with the victory. The 30-year-old netminder finished as the game's first star and he'll look to replicate that magic on Sunday in Game 6.
Apr 21 - 12:26 AM

Connor Hellebuyck turned aside all 30 shots he faced in a 5-0 win over Minnesota in Game 5 on Friday night.

The Jets wrapped up their first series victory in Thrashers/Jets franchise history, and it was the first playoff series win for the city of Winnipeg since the original Jets back in 1987. Hellebuyck has shutouts in each of the past two outings since being lifted early in Game 3 after two periods. The Jets will face the winner of the Avalanche-Predators series in Round 2.
Apr 20 - 10:24 PM

Claude Giroux opened the scoring in Game 5 on Friday night against Pittsburgh for his first goal of the series.

The 102-point scorer during the regular season had been nearly shut down offensively in the first four contests of the series, posting just one assist with a dismal minus-7 rating. He was paired with Valtteri Filppula and Jakub Voracek on the top line, as Sean Couturier was moved out, and the newly-formed trio accounted for two goals and five points to force a Game 6 back in Philadelphia.
Apr 20 - 9:52 PM

Michal Neuvirth stopped 30 of 32 shots in Game 5 on Friday night in a 4-2 win over Pittsburgh.

Neuvirth supplanted Brian Elliott for this elimination game and he helped the Flyers force a Game 6 with a solid performance. He had a key save at point blank range late in the third period against Sidney Crosby. Neuvirth should be back between the pipes for Game 6 on Sunday afternoon.
Apr 20 - 9:46 PM

Samuel Girard will be back in the lineup for Game 5 against the Nashville Predators.

Girard missed the last three games because of an upper-body injury. He played in over 22 minutes in the first game of this series. The Avs need to win if they want to stay alive.
Apr 20 - 9:29 PM

Joel Armia suffered an upper-body injury during Game 5 against Minnesota on Friday night.

Armia scored in the first period, but he exited the game sometime after that. The Jets have already announced that he won't be returning tonight. The team will likely provide an update on his status after the game.
Apr 20 - 8:57 PM

Nikolaj Ehlers won't play in Friday's game against the Minnesota Wild.

Ehlers is not on the ice for the pre-game warmup, which means he won't be in the lineup tonight. It's unclear why he's being held out of the lineup, but he's probably just dealing with an undisclosed injury. He's considered day-to-day at this point.
Apr 20 - 7:12 PM

Sean Couturier (lower body) is expected to be in the lineup for Game 5 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Couturier missed Game 4 after colliding with Radko Gudas during practice. The Flyers forward is centering Scott Laughton and Wayne Simmonds during the pre-game warmup.

Ryan O’Reilly has been selected as one of the nominees for the Lady Byng Trophy.

The Sabres had a disappointing year, but O’Reilly managed to put up a respectable 24 goals and 61 points in 81 games this season. He also racked up just two penalty minutes in 2017-18. Vegas’ William Karlsson and Florida’s Aleksander Barkov are the other two nominees for the Lady Byng Award.
