Jakub Voracek (back) took part in Monday's practice.

"Today's practice, basically for the first time, I feel a little better every time I skate," Voracek said on Monday. He's very optimistic about his chances of playing on Wednesday.

Dougie Hamilton carried the Bruins on Saturday night, with three points in their 4-1 win against the Maple Leafs.

Hamilton had a goal and two helpers in 22:31, to give him five points in 10 games. This type of game couldn’t have come at a better time for Boston, which is without Zdeno Chara for at least a month. With a defense that is now in some disarray, coach Claude Julien needs to be able to gain trust in the core as Chara’s removal changes its entire composition. Carl Soderberg, David Krejci and Gregory Campbell picked up the other goals. Patrice Bergeron had two assists.

Jaromir Jagr potted the overtime game-winning goal for the Devils in their 3-2 victory against the Senators on Saturday night.

Jagr saved the Devils — they were 1:21 away from going to a shootout, where they’ve lost the past 18 times. His power-play goal was his second point and sixth point on the season. Jagr doesn’t skate like he used to, but he still possesses a lethal shot and such a strong lower body, so it’s hard to move him out of the way. Damon Severson had a goal and an assist, while Marek Zidlicky picked up the other goal.

Frans Nielsen scored three times in the Islanders’ 7-5 win against the Stars on Saturday night.

Incredibly, Nielsen, with the help of the empty-netter, recorded his hat trick in the third period. He now has four goals and seven points in eight games this season, and should be able to score around 25 with 55-60 points by the time this campaign comes to a close. A trio of players registered a goal-assist performance: Lubomir Visnovsky, Brock Nelson and Nikolai Kulemin. Anders Lee rounded out the scoring. Mikhail Grabovski got two helpers. Good news for the Islanders: They score seven goals and John Tavares didn’t need to record a point, and in fact, had just one shot on goal.

Eric Staal hopes to be with the Hurricanes "long-term," according to HNIC’s Elliotte Friedman.

Friedman spoke with Staal, who is dealing with an upper-body injury, Friday. Staal has two years, including this one, remaining on his deal and there has been speculation that the Hurricanes would consider moving him as part a rebuild. Staal says that any talk of his future has been "extremely premature" and that the only thing that could change his mind is if a new owner comes in and wants to change the direction of the team.

While the San Jose Sharks' effort was uneven on Saturday, Michal Neuvirth deserves a lot of credit for the Buffalo Sabres' shocking 2-1 win.

Neuvirth stopped 29 out of 30 shots, including 14 out of 15 in the third period. The 26-year-old has faced 107 shots in three games so far, acquitting himself pretty well. This is his first win for Buffalo in 2014-15, and if he keeps this up, he might take quite a few starts from Jhonas Enroth.

The Blues have shuffled their forward lines for Saturday night's grudge match against the Blackhawks.

Jaden Schwartz will start on a line with David Backes and T.J. Oshie, while Alexander Steen will skate alongside Jori Lehtera and Vladimir Tarasenko. Essentially, Schwartz and Steen will be flip flopped. The Blues other two lines will be as follows: Dmitrij Jaskin-Patrik Berglund-Joakim Lindstrom and Steve Ott-Maxim Lapierre-Ryan Reaves. Schwartz is St.Louis' leading scorer with four goals and should continue to thrive in a top-six position all season long. The loser in this alignment, however, is Steve Ott, who got a chance to play in the top six earlier this week.
Oct 25 - 2:32 PM

Jason Spezza will once again center Dallas' top line alongside Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, who has shifted to right wing.

This has the makings of one of the NHL's best lines. Benn has scored in five straight games and Spezza has points in four consecutive contests. The balance of the Stars' lines will look like this against the Islanders Saturday: Antoine Roussel-Cody Eakin-Ryan Garbutt; Patrick Eaves-Vernon Fiddler-Ales Hemsky and Erik Cole-Shawn Horcoff-Colton Sceviour. Hemsky is the big loser out of this alignment, although he did look great taking a game-high eight shots Friday night against New Jersey.

Jarome Iginla scored his 561st and 562nd goals of his NHL career Friday night against Vancouver.

He broke a tie he had been in with Guy Lafleur and passed Mike Modano for 23rd on the alltime list. Next up are Joe Nieuwendyk and Mats Sundin at 564. Those are some pretty impressive names Iginla is passing. No doubt Iggy will be in the Hall of Fame one day.

The New York Islanders took Mikhail Grabovski off injured reserve on Saturday. He's expected to play against the Dallas Stars in tonight's game.

In four games, Grabovski - listed at all three forward positions in Yahoo - has two goals, one assist, a +3 rating, four blocked shots and seven SOG. With Josh Bailey injured, this is a welcome return for the Islanders.

Nashville Predators forward James Neal and Pittsburgh Penguins winger Patric Hornqvist both have added motivation for Saturday night as they face their respective former teams in the first head-to-head match since the big trade.

Though not a guarantee, that motivation can often mean fantasy hockey dividends, whether it comes down to extra points or PIM. Neal is on a hot streak (all five goals in his last four games including Thursday's hat trick), while Hornqvist has been held off the board in his last two games. Both aren't shy about shooting, either.
Oct 25 - 12:35 PM

Look for Phil Kessel to have a big night against the Bruins Saturday.

As the Buds' number one offensive threat Kessel is always on the ice opposite the Bruins' top defender Zdeno Chara. With Chara injured, look for Kessel to have a lot more room to dart around and create offensive chances. If you have Kessel on your fantasy team, make sure he is active as he loves to play against his former club generally, and without Chara in the Boston lineup he might actually have some fun.
