Cam Atkinson is now playing on the top line in Columbus alongside Marian Gaborik and Brandon Dubinsky.

Atkinson replaced rookie Boone Jenner and celebrated by getting the shootout winner. He had nine goals and 18 points in 35 games last season with 91 shots on goal but if he plays on the top unit, a 25 goal, 50 point season is not out of the question.

Chad Johnson and the Calgary Flames are now on a six-game winning streak after Saturday's 6-2 win against the Winnipeg Jets.

Johnson stopped 26 out of 28 pucks against Winnipeg. The 30-year-old is now 13-4-1 with a 1.98 GAA, .932 save percentage and three shutouts. He's only allowed nine goals in his last five games.

Daniel Sedin scored at the 11:45 minute mark of the third period with an assist from Henrik Sedin and Troy Stecher, but it was not enough to stem a 4-2 loss of the Vancouver Canucks to the Florida Panthers Saturday night.

With his ninth goal of the season and 19th point, Daniel continues to lead Henrik with 18 total points. As the brothers rack up modest points, however, the Canucks have a losing record of 12-14-2.
Dec 11 - 1:49 AM

Dougie Hamilton continues his tear, and so does the Calgary Flames as they rattled off a sixth consecutive win, defeating the Winnipeg Jets 6-2 on Saturday.

Dec 11 - 1:43 AM

Brendan Perlini scored his first NHL goal in 4-1 win by the Arizona Coyotes against the Predators Saturday night.

The 20-year-old Brendan Perlini is a two-year-in-development asset for the Arizona Coyotes. Due to his youth, this is the first year Perlini will play a full schedule for the Coyotes and their AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners, even though he was drafted 12th overall in the 2014 draft. Tonight was the first time ‘Yotes fan saw Perlini’s quick shooting ability pay off when their Captain Shane Doan set up a quick chance for him midway through the second period. Perlini scored on Predator goalie Pekka Rinne with a backhanded shot that flew in over Rinne’s left shoulder.
Dec 11 - 1:16 AM

Pekka Rinne faced 34 shots Saturday night and gave up four goals as the Nashville Predators lost to the Arizona Coyotes 4-1.

This was the fourth straight game in which Rinne had a save percentage lower than .900, but it is only the second time this season that he posted back-to-back defeats. Rinne has a season long save percentage of .922, but that has taken a beating in his last four contests with an .843, including a .778 contest when he was pulled early from the Stars Thursday night.
Dec 10 - 11:56 PM

Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin scored two goals apiece as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 Saturday night.

Crosby now has 20 goals in 22 games. This is the fifth time this season that he scored two goals in a game, although he is still looking for his first hat trick. Crosby was shaken up on a play early in the match and returned with a vengeance to score a goal in his third straight game and to extend his point streak to seven consecutive contests. This was Malkin’s 12th goal of the season and the second time this season that he scored twice.
Dec 10 - 10:23 PM

Max Pacioretty scored four times as the Montreal Canadiens pummeled the Colorado Avalanche 10-1 Saturday night.

Pacioretty picked up the game-winning goal at just the 5:13 mark of the first period. He completed the hat trick late in the second and added his fourth in the third. Pacioretty's four goals vaulted him to 12 for the season and into the team lead for the Canadiens in front of injured center Alex Galchenyuk. He also posted an assist for a five-point performance.
Dec 10 - 10:10 PM

Marian Gaborik scored his first goal of the season during Saturday's 4-1 win over the Senators.

It's been a long time coming. Gaborik now has points in four of his last five games, which isn't surprising because he has four points in six total games played thus far.
Dec 10 - 9:37 PM

Shane Doan will go for his 400th career goal against the Predators on Saturday.

The Coyotes leader in nearly everything, needs just to ring the bell just once more to accomplish the feat. In doing so, he'll be the first member of the Coyotes/original-Jets franchise to crack the 400-goal plateau. Which is pretty amazing considering some guy name Dale Hawerchuk once played for them.
Dec 10 - 7:02 PM

Pekka Rinne will go for his 250th career win against the Coyotes on Saturday.

The veteran netminder comes in having posted a 15-6-2 record with a .928 save percentage and 48 goals against in 24 games. Considering Arizona will also be missing Max Domi, and Rinne seems set to make reach another personal milestone.
