Dustin Brown, who missed most of training camp with a hamstring injury, is starting to get the rust off his game.

The Kings started the season in Minnesota before traveling to Winnipeg for game 2. "I felt a lot better in Winnipeg than I did in Minnesota," Brown said. "I'm sure I'll feel a lot better getting a couple of days' rest. ... I'm sure I'll be right where I need to be, just getting in games. Practices are one thing, but it's the timing of games. For me I was happy we had back-to-back." Brown is also wearing a knee brace due to the injury suffered in last season's playoffs. Despite all the injuries, Brown should be healthy enough to get 25-30 goals and 60-plus points while averaging close to a penalty minute per game in 2013-14.

Because the Penguins typically dominate possession, there aren't many times Fleury needs to basically win a game by himself. In this one, he did, and it’s a great sign because he’s winning games — 19 on the year — in all different fashions this year. Bernier gave up three in the first, two in the second and two more in the third. He has a 2.76 goals-against average and .917 save percentage this season. Andrei Vasilevskiy did his best to singlehandedly backstop the Lightning to at least a point, but his 45 saves weren’t enough in the 3-1 loss to the Islanders on Saturday night.

The Lightning were lucky this was even a game in the third period as the Islanders thoroughly dominated them, finishing with 47 shots, compared to 21 for the Lightning. Vasilevskiy was perfect until 16:51 of the third period, and he ended up giving two goals in 12 seconds. It appears that Ben Bishop is close to returning to the lineup, but Vasilevskiy has certainly made a case to be used as a backup if Evgeni Nabokov continues to struggle.
