Matthew Hackett was returned to the AHL during practice.

He was up with the team as an emergency goalie exemption. Ryan Miller looks like he'll be OK to back up Jhonas Enroth on Tuesday night.

Patrice Bergeron (lower body) is a game-time decision on Thursday.

Bergeron has been absent for the Bruins' first five games due to the injury. Getting him back would naturally be a huge boost for Boston, especially given that they'll be missing Tuukka Rask (undisclosed) on Thursday.
Oct 19 - 12:22 PM

David Backes (diverticulitis) will be able to play on Thursday.

Backes wasn't able to play in Boston's first five regular season games. This will be his second season with Boston after he had 17 goals, 38 points, and 69 penalty minutes in 74 contests in 2016-17.
Oct 19 - 12:20 PM

Anton Khudobin will play between the pipes Thursday night.

Tuukka Rask is out with an undisclosed injury, so Khudobin is filling the void. It's not clear yet how serious Rask's injury is, so we consequently don't know how long Khudobin will be serving as the Bruins' de facto number one goaltender. Khudobin has a 1.52 GAA and .950 save percentage in two games this season.
Oct 19 - 12:18 PM

Tuukka Rask (undisclosed) will not be able to play on Thursday.

Rask was hurt during Wednesday's practice when Anders Bjork crashed into him. Rask had to be helped off the ice. It's still not clear how serious his injury is, but the Bruins will reevaluate his status later. In the meantime, Anton Khudobin will get the start while Zane McIntyre is being summoned to serve as the backup goaltender.
Oct 19 - 12:14 PM

Anders Nilsson will be the Canucks' starting goaltender on Thursday.

That's not surprising given that Nilsson posted a 32-save shutout on Tuesday. Jacob Markstrom has gotten off to a rough start this season, so there's an opportunity here for Nilsson to challenge for the starting job.
Oct 19 - 12:10 PM

Jeff Carter left Wednesday night's game against Montreal early because of a lower-body injury.

Carter logged just 6:55 of ice time before leaving the contest. Coach John Stevens said that Carter needed to be evaluated further and an update on his status could come Thursday. A team source said, "Going to be a little while" when mentioning the severity of the injury, which isn't an optimistic outlook. We will keep you posted when the Kings state something official on the matter.
Oct 19 - 8:32 AM

Jaromir Jagr has been practicing on a line with Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan.

Jagr has gotten some ice time with that duo already, but he might skate alongside them more regularly Thursday night. "I think that Johnny and Monny are just fantastic off the rush," said Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan on Wednesday. "And with Ferly (Micheal Ferland) being injured there for a couple of days, it was a chance to see how Jags would look in that position. For me, the biggest thing he can give them is that zone-time. He’s just so good at holding pucks in the offensive zone, and I think we’ve seen that even before he’s gotten fully up to speed. I think what he’s going to add is just that offensive zone-time. Johnny and Monny are the best in the league at creating off the rush and off broken plays and that sort of thing, but to create more zone-time for both of those guys would be a huge advantage." This could be a nice boost for Jagr, who has an assist in three games so far this season.

Sami Vatanen (shoulder) might be able to make his return during the Ducks' upcoming four-game road trip.

In other words, Vatanen isn't expected to be available on Friday, but anything after that is a real possibility. "Well, it’s close," Vatanen said. "But it’s not quite there for me right now. It’s getting close. It might be just a little while more and we’re ready to play. I want to feel that I’m ready to take the hits and I’ll be ready to give some hits." He had three goals and 24 points in 71 contests last season.
Oct 19 - 4:11 AM

Hampus Lindholm (shoulder) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.

The stage seems to be set for Lindholm to return on Friday, although that hasn't been firmed up yet. That would be great news for Anaheim given that there was a time when he was expected to be out until Nov. 1. If he does return, he will likely be paired with Josh Manson.
Oct 19 - 4:08 AM

Adrian Kempe scored three goals with an assist, a plus-4 rating, a blocked shot and a hit in Wednesday's 5-1 win against the Canadiens.

Kempe, Mike Cammalleri and Trevor Lewis shined all night, combining for 10 points (five goals and five assists). It was Kempe's first-career NHL hat trick to help L.A. to its best six-game home start in club history. Kempe entered the game with just two goals and six points over his first 30 NHL games, so don't get terribly excited and add him to a fantasy roster just yet.
Oct 19 - 3:33 AM

Jaden Schwartz scored a hat trick in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Schwartz came into tonight's game with two goals in six games. The Blues forward opened the scoring at the 4:46 mark of the first period. He then made it 2-0 5:59 into the second, and he completed the hat trick with an empty-netter in the final minute of the third frame. Schwartz now has five goals and six assists in seven games this season. Vladimir Tarasenko and Kyle Brodziak also found the back of the net for the Blues.
