James van Riemsdyk is apparently a "question mark" for Tuesday's match-up versus Minnesota, according to coach Randy Carlyle.

Van Riemsdyk didn't practice Monday but it was described as a "maintenance day" by the team. It sounds like he might be a game-time decision.

Philipp Grubauer made 32 saves on 35 shots Saturday night to life the Capitals to a 4-3 win over the Stars.

Grubauer did not get off to a strong start as the Stars outshot the Caps 25 to 13 in the first two periods. He gave up one goal on 15 shots in the first and two on 10 shots in the second, but settled down once his teammates began to score in the third. Grubauer faced another 10 shots in that period, but was perfect and sent the game into overtime. Jay Beagle scored the game winner 19 seconds into the extra period, so Grubauer did not have to face another shot. Grubauer now has a record of 9-1-2 with a save percentage of .925.

Jean-Francois Berube gave up two goals on 36 shots Saturday night as the Islanders beat the Kings 4-2.

This was only Berube’s fourth complete game of the season. He lost his previous three and was pressed into service in two other contests that were also losing efforts. Nevertheless, he entered the game with a respectable .904 save percentage, but on the strength of this win, he now has a .916 and might be worth considering the next time a player wants to roll the dice.

Carey Price faced 38 shots and gave up three goals Saturday night as the Canadiens lost 3-2 to the Sabres.

Price lost four of his previous five games with an average save percentage of .859, so there is some reason to be hopeful in his .921 Saturday. He had a GAA of .291 against the Sabres, which was his second best mark in the past six games.

Mike Smith faced a whopping 47 shots Saturday night and blocked all but three of them as the Coyotes beat the Lightning 5-3.

To say Smith performs well under pressure would be a bit of an understatement. This is the seventh time he has faced more than 40 shots. He has now won five of those contests and in the two games he lost, he gave up only two goals in each and took the game to overtime.

Radim Vrbata had a piece of four goals as the Coyotes beat the Lightning 5-3 Saturday night.

Vrbata scored a goal at the 10:19 mark of the first. He had three assists to Tobias Rieder, Michael Stone, and Martin Hanzal. With four points, he lifted his total to 33 and pads his lead over Oliver Ekman-Larsson who had only one assist Saturday night for a total of 25 points for the season.

Tyler Bozak scored his 12th goal of the season at the 7:31 mark of the second as the Maple Leafs lost 3-2 to the Senators.

Bozak has been hot since the calendar turned to 2017. Five of his 12 goals this season have come in the last seven games. His streak kicked off with one goal and an assist again the Devils January 6. Bozak closed out the season strong as well with a goal December 29 against the Lightning.

Keith Kinkaid faced 36 shots and let only one get past him as the Devils beat the Flyers 4-1 Saturday night.

Kinkaid has been an all-or-nothing goalie in recent games. His last six efforts have showcased three wins with save percentages greater than .964—including Saturday night’s .972 against Philly. His other three games ended with losses and save percentages below the .900 mark.

Markus Hannikainen finally scored his first career NHL goal.

It only took 10 games to finally get on the ledger, but here he is. And it was a pretty one too. Hannikainen has produced well in the AHL, posting nine goals and 14 points in 25 games.

Michael Latta was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday for Cameron Schilling.

Latta will report to AHL Rockford. The 25-year-old had posted six points and 67 PIMs in 29 games for AHL Ontario prior to the deal. He has not played in the NHL yet this season.

Patrik Laine is ready to be a full participant in Sunday's practice with the Jets.

Winnipeg will play host to Anaheim and San Jose on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Then finish up in Chicago on Thursday before the All-Star break kicks in on Friday. Hopefully, he'll be able to play in at least one of those contests.

It'll be Michael Leighton who ends Cam Ward's 21-game starting streak on Saturday against Columbus.

Leighton comes in with a 2-1 record and nine goals against through three games with the Hurricanes already this season. Considering how sensational Columbus has been this season, you may wish to look for a more favorable matchup.
