The condition is that if Florida makes the playoffs, then Detroit will receive Arizona's third round pick. Otherwise they'll receive Florida's. Barry Trotz earned his 700th career win as a head coach on Tuesday.

Trotz is just the sixth coach to ever reach that milestone after Lindy Ruff, Ken Hitchcock, Al Arbour, Joel Quenneville, and Scotty Bowman. Most of Trotz's wins came during his time with Nashville, but he does have an outstanding 143-57-26 record with Washington. "I've been blessed to coach a lot of great players and been with two wonderful organizations and surround myself with really smart people," Trotz said. "The assistant coaches and the associate coaches over the years, they're a big part. They do a lot of the work and I've just been blessed to have been doing it for as long as I have and the players responding and playing as well as they have to get those wins."

Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said that it seems like Burmistrov will be alright. Burmistrov also said he was okay in an Instagram message he posted from the hospital. Burmistrov will even join the Coyotes on their trip to Buffalo, though we don't know if he's alright to play in that game.

The Montreal Canadiens acquired Steve Ott from the Detroit Red Wings for a sixth round pick in 2018.

This is why Ott was held out of tonight's game against the Vancouver Canucks. He'll add some grit and physicality to Montreal's lineup. He's also capable of killing penalties. Ott has three goals, three assists and 63 penalty minutes in 42 games. He'll be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

The Vancouver Canucks traded Jannik Hansen to the San Jose Sharks for Nikolay Goldobin.

This looks like a terrific trade for the Canucks, as they managed to acquire Goldobin, who was San Jose's first round pick, 27th overall, in 2014. Hansen has just six goals and seven assists in 28 games this season, but he's missed two long stretches because of rib and lower-body injuries. Last season, he managed to score a career-high 22 goals in 67 games. He gives the Sharks another winger with scoring potential for their playoff run. "Jannik has been an important part of our team for over a decade and we would like to thank him, his wife Karen and their children for all they've done and wish them all the best in San Jose," said Canucks GM Jim Benning. "While this was a difficult decision to make, this trade helps us with our goal of continuing to build a younger, skilled team for the future." Hansen has one year left on his contract at $2.5 million.

Justin Abdelkader scored the game winning goal at the 2:31 mark of overtime, which lifted the Red Wings to a 3-2 win over the Canucks.

Abdelkader has not been very productive recently and was riding a 22-game goalless streak during which he earned only five assists. Only one of these assists came in the past seven games, so it is too soon to form a bandwagon for him.

Evgeni Malkin found the back of the net in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Dallas Stars.

Malkin opened the scoring at the 10:04 mark of the first period and teammate Jake Guentzel made it 2-0 midway through the second period. That's as good as things got for Pittsburgh, as they allowed the Stars to score three unanswered goals in the final frame. Malkin has picked up at least one point in six of his last seven contests. He has 26 goals and 62 points in 54 games this season.
Mar 1 - 12:46 AM

Milan Lucic found the back of the net in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the St. Louis Blues.

Lucic's goal at the 11:51 mark of the first period tied the game at one. He also dropped the gloves with Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo tonight. The big power forward finished the contest with a plus-1 rating, five penalty minutes and one shot on goal in 14:35 of ice time. Lucic has 14 goals and 35 points in his first 64 games with Edmonton. Mark Letestu scored the game-winner for the Oilers.

Carey Price turned aside all 26 shots he faced in Tuesday's 1-0 OT win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Canadiens needed each one of those 26 saves to pick up the victory tonight. Price even came up with some critical saves in overtime to give his team a chance to win. After a rough stretch, he's now won back-to-back starts. He owns a 27-16-5 record with a 2.37 goals-against-average and a .920 save percentage this season. Price appears to be back to his old self, but keep in mind that Montreal failed to win a game in regulation this month.
Mar 1 - 12:07 AM

Filip Forsberg racked up two goals and an assist in Tuesday's 5-4 OT win over the Buffalo Sabres.

With his team trailing 4-2 in the third period, Forsberg helped set up Ryan Johansen's goal to cut the deficit to 4-3 before scoring the game-tying goal with just over two minutes remaining in regulation. Guess who scored the game winner in overtime? If you guessed Forsberg, you'd be correct. The Predators forward has been absolutely dominant during his recent six-game point streak. This was his fourth three-point effort in his last five games. He's up to 26 goals and 23 assists in 63 games.
