Jimmy Howard will be back in goal for Detroit Saturday night.

Backup goaltender Jonas Gustavsson won three straight games for the Red Wings while filling in for Howard, who missed two contests with a bruised hand. Feel free to start Howard if you normally would versus Phoenix.

Nathan MacKinnon was late to the party, but ultimately helped the Avalanche edge the Red Wings 4-3 in overtime on Sunday.

MacKinnon assisted on Carl Soderberg's tying goal in the final minute of regulation, then scored the overtime winner to give Colorado the victory. MacKinnon, fresh off a five point performance last week against Washington, now has 22 points in 19 games this season.

Maxime Lagace will start Sunday night against Los Angeles.

Malcolm Subban will serve as the backup and get some more practice time before he returns to game action. Lagace made 19 saves in a 5-2 win over Vancouver this past Thursday in his last outing.
Nov 19 - 7:16 PM

Hampus Lindholm is expected to return from a lower-body injury Sunday night.

Lindholm didn't play on Wednesday due to the ailment. Look for him to play alongside Josh Manson against Florida.
Nov 19 - 6:46 PM

Victor Rask will be a healthy scratch for the Hurricanes on Sunday against the Islanders.

Josh Jooris will take Rask's place in the lineup. Rask, who has only three goals and five points in 18 games this season, logged 11:50 of ice time on Saturday versus Buffalo.
Nov 19 - 4:45 PM

Jonathan Bernier will be between the pipes for Sunday's match versus Detroit.

Semyon Varlamov was roughed up for five goals on 24 shots by Nashville on Saturday in a 5-2 loss and he'll get the night off to rest. Bernier has a 2-4-0 record with a 3.71 goals-against average and an .887 save percentage this year.
Nov 19 - 2:22 PM

Austin Watson will have a hearing Sunday with the NHL Department of Player Safety.

Watson is being called to answer for a boarding incident on Colorado's Dominic Toninato from Saturday's game. He received a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play.

The Detroit Red Wings will finally be able to welcome Danny DeKeyser (ankle) back to the lineup Sunday and the veteran defenseman is itching to get back.

"I think it’s been 16, 17 games, something like that. So, I’m excited to get back in there," DeKeyser said. "Foot’s been feeling really good. I got some good skates in, this week, so I’m just ready to get out there, tomorrow. It was an ankle injury that kind of, at first, looked like more like a sprain. But the more it went on, they took a second look at it and there was a small fracture in there." DeKeyser has only been able to appear in three games this season, averaging 23 minutes of action in his two full healthy games. He's a stabilizing all-around rearguard but shouldn't be added in fantasy leagues.

Brayden Schenn continues to perform for the Blues after he scored the overtime winner Saturday night against Vancouver.

"I don't know if the puck rolled," Schenn said. "I kinda chucked a changeup on net, and I'll definitely take goals like that. It wasn't an unbelievable shot by any means. It was a lucky shot and I'll definitely take goals like that." Schenn has tallied a ridiculous 15 points over his last seven games, and 26 points in 21 games overall. The Blues acquired the 26-year-old forward by giving up Jori Lehtera with two first round picks (one of them being a conditional first). Schenn is centering Tarasenko and Schwartz and they have formed one of the best lines in the NHL this season.

Despite not picking up any points, head coach Guy Boucher believes Duchene and Ryan give the Senators two number one lines.

"There’s moments where they absolutely dominate out there," coach Guy Boucher said of a pairing he believes will give the Senators two No. 1 lines. "You’re just hoping for that one to go in so they can breathe." It's a fair stance considering Duchene came close to bagging in three goals himself yesterday against the Arizona Coyotes. His first big chance went off an unsuspecting Luke Schenn, his second chance just slid under his stick with the net wide open, and he somehow couldn't corral the puck with the net wide open in the third period for his final big chance. Duchene has 10 points in 18 games this season, but zero since being acquired by Ottawa. If someone dropped him in your league, we'd pick him up right away. His bad puck luck can't go on for much longer.
Nov 19 - 9:52 AM

Anton Khudobin stopped 36 of 37 shots in a 3-1 win over the San Jose Sharks.

With Khudobin's excellent play combined with Rask's struggles, questions are beginning to circulate in Boston on who should start Wednesday's game against the New Jersey Devils. Khudobin has earned it based on merit. The 31-year-old netminder has won back-to-back starts while just allowing one goal in each contest. His record sits at 5-0-2 with a 2.17 goals against average and .935 save percentage.
