Brett Bellemore tried to skate on Sunday but was sore.

He is suffering from a lower body injury. Just an FYI as Bellemore has no points and is minus-six in nine games this season.

Captain Nick Foligno is too sick to play in Friday's match with the Red Wings.

Being sick sucks, and you know it has to be bad for Foligno to miss a game. He's posted 10 goals and 22 points in 24 games along with 15 blocks, 22 PIMs, and 36 hits. He's considered day-to-day.

Calvin Pickard will be the Avalanche's starter on Saturday.

Pickard is getting a second start in a row after saving 29 of 31 shots on Thursday. He has a 5-2-1 record, 2.39 GAA, and .922 save percentage in nine contests this season.
Dec 9 - 5:23 PM

Jimmy Vesey (upper body) will be a game-time decision on Friday.

The plan is for Vesey to participate in the pregame warmups and then the coaching staff will make a call. Vesey couldn't play on Thursday due to the ailment.
Dec 9 - 2:47 PM

Antti Raanta will get the nod on Friday.

Raanta stopped 17 of 18 shots in a 2-1 win over the Jets on Thursday. It's surprising to see a backup goaltender play on back-to-back nights, especially when your starter is as established as Henrik Lundqvist is. That said, Lundqvist has been a bit of a mixed bag lately and Raanta is coming off a win, so perhaps the Rangers are hoping to build a little momentum.
Dec 9 - 2:45 PM

Jiri Hudler (illness) has been taken off the injured reserve list.

Hudler hasn't played since Nov. 1 due to the sickness. The Stars demoted Jason Dickinson to make room for him.

Cal Clutterbuck has agreed to a five-year extension with the New York Islanders.

The financial terms of the contract weren't immediately known, but Clutterbuck is in the final season of a four-year, $11 million deal. Clutterbuck typically serves as a bottom-six forward and doesn't contribute a lot offensively, though his role has been somewhat different so far in 2016-17. He's averaging 15:26 minutes per game - the most since he joined the Islanders - and has two goals and nine points in 25 contests. He's also continued to play with the physical edge he's known for, as demonstrated by his 89 hits thus far.

Max Pacioretty scored a goal in Thursday's win over New Jersey.

He also recorded five shots in the match. Coach Michel Therrien confirmed a report that Pacioretty played through a microfracture in his foot during November. He is better now though and his production has gone up recently.
Dec 9 - 8:57 AM

Jamie Benn scored a goal and two assists in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Nashville Predators.

Benn opened the scoring at the 9:55 mark of the first period and it was the 200th marker of his career. He also helped set up second-period goals by Jason Spezza and Tyler Seguin. The 27-year-old has eight goals and 24 points in 28 games. Antoine Roussel and Brett Ritchie also scored for the Stars.
Dec 9 - 2:01 AM

Mark Scheifele scored a goal in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers.

Well, it didn't take Scheifele long to get settled in after missing the last three games with a lower-body injury. His second period goal tied the game 1-1 at the time. Unfortunately for the Jets, Kevin Hayes scored the game-winning goal with under two minutes left in regulation. Scheifele has 14 goals and 27 points in 27 games this season. He's a must-start in all fantasy leagues whenever the Jets are in action.
Dec 9 - 1:47 AM

Kevin Hayes scored the game-winning goal in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

Chris Kreider gave New York a 1-0 lead in the first period, while Jets forward Mark Scheifele tied it up in the second. Hayes scored the go-ahead goal on the power play with only 1:09 remaining in regulation. Ryan McDonagh and J.T. Miller picked up the assists on the goal. Hayes has 11 goals and nine assists in 28 games in 2016-17. Those are much better totals than many expected from him at this point of the season.
Dec 9 - 1:45 AM

Cam Ward stopped 20-of-21 shots in Carolina's 3-1 win over the LA Kings on Thursday.

Nice bounce back for the 32 year-old vet who allowed five goals the night before against Anaheim. He's having a bounce back year altogether with a stellar 2.22 GAA and .920 save percentage to go with eight wins in 20 games started. Start him if you got him.
