Semyon Varlamov will start in Friday's game against the Dallas Stars.

We reported that on Wednesday, but it needed confirming because since then Varlamov turned himself into police and has been charged with second-degree kidnapping and third-degree assault. Those charges are related to a woman Varlamov reportedly had an intimate relationship with. Varlamov has been released from jail, is allowed to travel, and his agent has claimed that Varlamov is innocent. None of that has altered the Avalanche's goaltending plans for the evening.

Aaron Dell is projected to get the start for the Sharks on Friday.

While Dell has clearly been the backup goaltender all season, Martin Jones and him have been splitting the goalie duties evenly recently. Dell has a 10-5-1 record, 1.85 GAA, and .936 save percentage in 17 contests.

Ryan Strome won't need surgery for his broken wrist.

Strome is still likely to miss the remainder of the regular season though as he has a three-to-six week timetable. The good news is that if the Islanders do make the playoffs and Strome is healthy on the earlier end of that timeline, then he might not miss much of the postseason.
Mar 24 - 11:18 AM

It looks like Jaroslav Halak will play between the pipes on Friday.

Unless that changes, this would be Halak's first start with the Islanders since Dec. 29. He struggled this season before being waived and demoted, but Halak has found his game in the AHL, posting a 2.15 GAA and .925 save percentage in 27 contests.

Anze Kopitar scored on the power-play and picked up an assist in the Kings' 5-2 win over Winnipeg on Thursday.

Kopitar is hot with six points in his last five games. It has still been a disappointing season for fantasy owners. The Kings' captain has 46 points in 67 games. Drew Doughty, Tyler Toffoli and Jake Muzzin also picked up multi-point nights. Marion Gaborik was credited with the game-winning-goal
Mar 24 - 1:41 AM

Patrick Kane scored a goal in regulation and one in the shootout in Thursday's 3-2 win over Dallas.

Kane opened the scoring with a power play goal at the 8:13 mark of the first period. He's now picked up at least one point in seven of his last eight contests. Kane has 33 goals and 81 points in 74 games this season. Marian Hossa also scored for the Blackhawks, while Artemi Panarin added the game-winner in the shootout.
Mar 24 - 12:35 AM

Zach Parise scored a goal in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Parise's had a relatively disappointing fantasy season, but he's managed to pick up at least one point in each of his last four games. The Wild forward opened the scoring at the 2:07 mark of the first period, but the Flyers responded by scoring three straight goals. Parise has 17 goals and 36 points in 61 games.

Pekka Rinne stopped 24 of 25 shots in Nashville's 3-1 win over the Calgary Flames.

Rinne has now rattled off four consecutive victories over Winnipeg, Washington, Arizona and Calgary. The Preds are one point behind Calgary for the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference (Nashville has a game in hand). Rinne has a 29-16-8 record with a 2.49 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage this season.
Mar 24 - 12:07 AM

Ryan Ellis scored a goal in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Calgary Flames.

Ellis has now scored three goals in his last two games. His tally at the 12-minute mark of the third period gave the Predators a 3-1 lead. Ellis finished the game with a plus-1 rating, two shots on goal and one hit in 24:54 of ice time. The Preds defenseman has 15 goals and 20 assists in 63 games this season.
Mar 24 - 12:00 AM

Magnus Paajarvi scored two goals in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

That's a pretty good night at the office for a guy who had just six goals coming into tonight's game. Paajarvi tied the game at one at the 17:32 mark of the first period and he extended St. Louis' lead to 3-1 midway through the third frame. The Blues forward has been on a bit of run of late, as he's picked up six points in his last seven games. He has eight goals and three assists in 23 games.
Mar 23 - 11:45 PM

Jonathan Marchessault scored a pair of goals in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes.

Marchessault scored both of his goals just 26 seconds apart late in the second period to give Florida 2-1 and 3-1 leads. The Panthers forward finished the game with six shots on goal and one hit in 14 minutes of ice time. Marchessault has 25 goals and 20 assists in 66 games this season. Shawn Thornton also found the back of the net for the Panthers.
Mar 23 - 11:26 PM

Cam Talbot allowed four goals on 15 shots and got the early hook Thursday night against Colorado.

He's allowed four goals in two starts since his remarkable goalless streak. Not surprisingly he didn't last the duration of either games. The 27-year-old has started an incredible 67 games this season thus far. Maybe fatigue could be setting in a little bit. Laurent Brossoit took over at the start of the third period for the Oilers.
