Pekka Rinne pitched in a magnificent Thanksgiving performance on Thursday night, stopping all 37 shots he faced in the Preds' 1-0 overtime win against Edmonton.

Rinne's fifth victory in a row and second shutout of the year came in clutch, as the Oilers desperately tried to snap an ugly losing streak and carried the play for a good chunk of the night. Rinne improves his record to a sparkling 15-3-1 so far this season with a 1.82 goals against average and .932 save percentage.

Ryan McDonagh (shoulder) may be ready to return on Friday night.

He was paired with Dan Girardi during Thursday's practice, which bumped John Moore to an extra. McDonagh may be a game-time decision after missing the past 11 games with a separated shoulder.

Cameron Talbot will get the call for Friday's game at Philadelphia.

Coach Alain Vigneault said that Henrik Lundqvist will start on Saturday in the second game of the home-and-home set versus the Flyers. Talbot posted a 31-save shutout against Philly on Nov. 19 in his last outing.

Claude Giroux has been piling up shots on goal this season.

He is currently tied with Alex Ovechkin for the league lead with a total of 97 in 21 games. That puts him on pace to top 375 shots, which is significantly higher than his previous best of 242 during the 2011-12 campaign. "It just happens," he said. "I've got a lot of shots. I saw it last week [and said], 'Wow, I have a lot of shots.' The goals are hopefully going to come more. But when you shoot the puck good things are going to happen." Giroux has seven goals and 19 assists.

Justin Schultz will be a healthy scratch Thursday night versus Nashville.

"Justin has struggled a little bit as of late, and we felt it was best to hit the reset button," said coach Dallas Eakins. Schultz has recorded four assists in his past six games, but he also has a minus-4 rating during that time and his ice time dropped to 15:13 against Dallas on Tuesday. He made a bad line change that led to a goal by Tyler Seguin in the contest.

Mike Fisher will make his 2014-15 debut on Thursday night after recovering from an Achilles injury.

He suffered a ruptured Achilles during off-season training, so he's bound to be rusty once his adrenaline wears down. Fisher had 20 goals and 49 points in 75 games with the Predators last year. He's slated to play with Derey Roy and Olli Jokinen because Matt Cullen is injured.
Nov 27 - 1:44 PM

Roberto Luongo's upper-body injury is reportedly not serious.

That's very good news for the Panthers and for fantasy owners. Luongo has been excellent this season in Florida, while sporting a .927 save percentage and a 2.33 goals-against average. He picked up his seventh win of the year on Wednesday night even though he left in the second period due to injury. He isn't expected to miss much time.
