Corey Crawford (lower body) is expected to be sidelined for about three weeks.

Crawford left Sunday's game because of the ailment. He has a 2.47 GAA and .907 save percentage in 27 contests this season. With backup netminder Nikolai Khabibulin sidelined too, it seems probable that Antti Raanta will get a fair amount of playing time for the remainder of the month.

Evgeni Malkin won't play in Sunday's game against Nashville, but it's possible that he returns on Wednesday.

Malkin took part in practice on Saturday, but he isn't quite ready to return just yet. The Penguins will start their western-Canadian road trip in Edmonton on Wednesday and Malkin could be available then. I feel so much better," Malkin said. "I skated a couple of days. It's tough to watch the game on TV, but now there's a good chance I'll be back (soon)." The 28-year-old has 19 goals and 51 points in 45 games this season.

Ryan Murray said he knee felt great after Saturday's game.

It was Murray's first game back since November 1 as he has now played in only five contests this season. He underwent two surgeries in the off-season and it appears that he has finally healed. Murray picked up his first assist of the season in the 3-1 loss and played 19:10 minutes but did not see any power play time. Don't worry if you own him in keeper leagues; he will see plenty of action on the pp in his NHL career.

Antti Niemi helped the Sharks earn a 1-0 win against the Blackhawks by making 31 saves Saturday night.

San Jose was outshot 31 to 19, and Niemi’s play between the pipes made all the difference. He now has four shutouts on the season, while helping the Sharks to a 5-0-1 record over his last six games. Niemi has a 2.51 goals-against average and .914 save percentage. Even during this hot stretch, Niemi is still more of a number-two in fantasy leagues.

Lance Bouma scored two times in the Flames’ 4-2 come-from-behind win over the Oilers on Saturday night.

Edmonton held a 2-0 lead into the third period, then the floodgates opened and the Flames erupted for four goals on 12 shots. Bouma scored the tying goal and the insurance marker at 16:27. He has eight goals and 19 points this season, so he’s not worth owning in fantasy leagues. Paul Byron and Sean Monahan got the other goals. Mikael Backlund and David Jones recorded two assists apiece.

Henrik Lundqvist says he is dealing with some headaches and light-headedness after taking a shot to the throat in the Rangers’ 4-1 win Saturday night.

Lundqvist’s mask had been slightly lifted by Ryan McDonagh’s stick during a battle in front and the throat protector was not in the right spot when the shot was taken. Lundqvist took several minutes to collect himself, but remained in the game, making 31 saves. After the tilt, Lundqvist said he is not dealing with concussion symptoms. "Obviously it’s not fun when it happens," Lundqvist said. "I’m actually glad, it could’ve been a lot worse. I feel lucky."
Jan 31 - 11:06 PM

Ben Bishop kicked away 34 shots in the Lightning’s 3-1 win over Columbus on Saturday night.

Bishop was 3:26 away from recording a shutout when Ryan Johansen beat him. He has won five of his past six games, evidence of what makes him a valuable play in fantasy leagues. Bishop won’t post sterling rate stats — 2.32 goals-against average, .915 save percentage — but he plays for a very good team, so he his wins upside is high, of which he has 26.
Jan 31 - 10:56 PM

John Klingberg’s four-point night led the Stars to a 5-2 win over the Jets on Saturday.

Klingberg scored twice and had two assists, in addition to two penalty minutes, a plus-two rating and two shots on goal in 22:38. Just 22 years old, he has shown in his short time in the NHL that he has the makings of a pretty good offensive blueliner. Klingberg has seven goals and 20 points in 34 games, so he’s certainly worth a bench addition, at least. Shawn Horcoff, Patrick Eaves and Jason Spezza picked up the other goals. Tyler Seguin registered three helpers.
Jan 31 - 10:44 PM

Steve Mason recorded a shutout on 30 saves in the Flyers’ 1-0 victory over the Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

Mason has been very sharp since returning from an injury, giving up a total of three goals in the three games. The shutout is the second of the season, and he’s got five wins over his last five decisions. Mason has a 2.32 goals-against average and .924 save percentage. Suffice to say, this season has exceeded the expectations of many.

Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves in the Rangers’ 4-1 win over the Hurricanes on Saturday night.

Lundqvist and the Rangers seemed to avoid a major injury when he was hit in the throat with a shot that eluded his neck flap early in the second period. Lundqvist needed several moments to be looked at by the trainers and collect himself, but he would stay in the game. Afterwards, Lundqvist said he was a bit light-headed and had headaches, but there are no concussion worries. The Rangers had no business being in this one in the first half, but that’s why they pay King Henrik top dollar. He has a 2.23 goals-against average and .922 save percentage this season.
Jan 31 - 9:47 PM

Mike Smith couldn't get all the way through the Ottawa Senators' 7-2 shellacking of his Arizona Coyotes, as he was pulled early in the third period.

Smith allowed five goals on 20 shots while newly recalled backup Louis Domingue gave up two tallies on 11 shots in an ugly all-around day for the 'Yotes. Unless you're in a league that rewards poor play, it's hard to imagine much of a reason to have Smith on any roster.
Jan 31 - 6:03 PM

For the second straight game, Max Pacioretty collecting the lone goal (not to mention GWG) for the Montreal Canadiens, as they bested the Washington Capitals 1-0 in OT on Saturday.

Pacioretty hammered seven SOG in order to finally beat Braden Holtby. He now has 23 goals and five GWG in 2014-15, not to mention 178 SOG in 48 games.
