Casey Wellman has been summoned by the Washington Capitals.

Wellman has seven goals and 13 points in 23 AHL games this season. The 26-year-old forward isn't expected to have any fantasy value with Washington.

Philadelphia forward Brayden Schenn scored twice in the Flyers' 4-1 upset victory over the Penguins in Pittsburgh Wednesday night.

After superstar Sidney Crosby gave Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead early in the first period, the Flyers scored four consecutive goals on goalie Marc-Andre Fleury and beat their cross-state rivals handily. Schenn's goals were his 15th and 16th of the season. Jacub Voracek assisted on Schenn's second goal. That gives Voracek 56 assists on the season. Philly's other goal scorers were Vincent Lecavalier (eighth) and defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo. Colaiacovo's goal, on a shorthanded effort, was his first of the season. Colaiacovo also was a plus-two on the night.

Ryan Kesler (upper body injury) will be held out of Wednesday’s contest with the Oilers.

Kesler was given a maintenance day during the morning skate Wednesday and will not be dressed for the game at night versus the Oilers. He has played in all 78 games for the Ducks this season, picking up 20 goals and 47 points and although he still carries a lot of "real-life" value for the Ducks, he has been a disappointing fantasy player for those who drafted him this season expecting 30 plus goals and 60 plus points. Consider him day-to-day and look for him to return to the Ducks lineup Friday against the Avalanche.
Apr 1 - 9:36 PM

Evgeni Malkin is a late scratch due to an undisclosed injury for Wednesday's contest with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Well this comes as a shocker considering he participated in the teams morning skate and was all set to play come game time. There are no further details released right now but stay tuned for more updates.

Andrew Hammond has been chosen as the first star of March.

He posted an impressive 10-1-1 record with a 2.09 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage to help the Senators get into the playoff hunt. Hammond permitted two or fewer goals in nine of his 12 appearances.
Apr 1 - 6:59 PM

Patrick Kane (clavicle) was back at practice on Wednesday.

It was his first session with his teammates since he was taken out of the lineup with a broken clavicle. "I thought it was a pretty good step (Wednesday) skating with the team," Kane said. "I'm happy about that. I'm not really sure what the next step is. I'm sure it would be contact and maybe finish some of the drills the guys were doing. We'll kind of see how I feel there." Unfortunately, his timetable hasn't changed, which means he's still on track to return in mid-May.
Apr 1 - 5:18 PM

Martin St. Louis will return to the lineup on Thursday night.

Coach Alain Vigneault confirmed that St. Louis would play after missing eight games with a sprained MCL. St. Louis had three points in seven matches during the month of March before he was injured. Get him back in your lineup if you normally would.
Apr 1 - 3:32 PM

Johnny Gaudreau has been named the NHL's rookie of the month for March.

He led all first-year players with 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) in 15 games. Gaudreau is the leading scorer among rookies with 60 points in 76 games thanks in large part to a successful showing in March.
Apr 1 - 2:38 PM

Brett Connolly (finger) could make his Boston debut on Thursday against Detroit.

He practiced with his teammates on Wednesday after he took part in the pregame warmup on Tuesday. Connolly suffered a broken right index finger during his second practice with the Bruins after he was acquired from Tampa Bay.

Jake Allen will get the nod for St. Louis on Thursday against Calgary.

In his last outing on Mar. 24, Allen blocked 24 of 26 shots in a 3-2 overtime win against Pittsburgh. He owns a 19-6-4 record this season to go with a .906 save percentage, a 2.45 goals-against average and four shutouts.
Apr 1 - 2:18 PM

As expected, Vladimir Tarasenko won't play Thursday because of a lower-body injury.

He is being listed as day-to-day and coach Ken Hitchcock expects Tarasenko to be ready for the playoffs. He was hurt on Monday night against Vancouver and didn't practice on Wednesday.
Apr 1 - 2:03 PM

Dustin Byfuglien will have a hearing on Thursday for his cross-check to New York's J.T. Miller.

He wasn't penalized on the play, but it's not surprising that he's facing a suspension for the incident. Byfuglien's stick made contact with the back of Miller's neck when the Rangers forward fell in front of the Winnipeg net.
