Michal Neuvirth (ankle) has completed his AHL conditioning stint.

Neuvirth kicked out 33 of 37 shots in his only game during his time with the Hershey Bears. Washington will play on Friday and Saturday, so there's a decent chance that Neuvirth will start in one of those contests.

Artem Anisimov has undergone surgery on his right wrist.

He is projected to return to "full hockey activities" in 6-8 weeks. Anisimov produced 20 goals and 42 points in 77 games during his first season with Chicago in 2015-16.

Kris Letang has been suspended for one game for interference on Washington's Marcus Johansson.

He delivered a late and high hit to Johansson in Game 3 on Monday night and it earned him two minutes in the penalty box for interference. Letang, who has seven points in eight playoff games, will be eligible to return in Game 5 on Saturday night.
May 3 - 3:01 PM

Torey Krug has had successful surgery on his right shoulder.

He is projected to require six months of recovery time. There's a chance that Krug won't be available for the start of next season, but we will keep you posted on his status.
May 3 - 2:34 PM

David Krejci has undergone successful surgery on his left hip.

His recovery time is expected to be five months, so he could still available for the start of the 2016-17 regular season. Krejci had been hampered by the ailment for the last two seasons.
May 3 - 2:26 PM

Antti Niemi is likely to get the nod in Game 3 versus St. Louis.

He was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, which indicates that he will play. Niemi played well in relief of Kari Lehtonen on Sunday and it was thought that he would get a chance to start in Game 3. He has one win along with a 2.73 GAA and an .892 save percentage in four postseason appearances.
May 3 - 1:38 PM

Marcus Johansson won't skate on Tuesday because of an upper-body injury.

He will be re-evaluated on Wednesday. Johansson underwent concussion protocol in Game 3 after he was hit high and late by Pittsburgh's Kris Letang on Monday night. He was cleared to return and didn't miss a shift for the rest of the game. It's unclear right now if symptoms surfaced overnight or if the Capitals are just being cautious. Johansson did say his neck was sore after the match.
May 3 - 11:27 AM

Kris Letang will have a hearing Tuesday with the NHL Department of Player Safety.

He could face supplemental discipline for an interference play on Washington's Marcus Johansson. Letang was given a two-minute penalty for a late and high hit on the play.

The Calgary Flames have fired Bob Hartley.

Hartley went from winning the Jack Adams Award in 2015 to being fired just a year later. Of course, he spent four years in Calgary and in that span the Flames had a 134-135-25 record and only made the playoffs once, so in that context his dismissal is not surprising. Hartley has 944 games as a head coach under his belt between his stints with Calgary, Colorado, and Atlanta. Along the way he led the Avalanche to a championship in 2000-01. The Flames have also parted ways with associate coach Jacques Cloutier.

Rookie goaltender Matt Murray made an eyebrow-raising 47 saves Monday night to spearhead the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-2 triumph over the visiting Washington Capitals in the third game of the teams' second-round playoff series.

The win gives the Pens a 2-1 lead in the series. Murray was outstanding. His 47 saves was his personal best in the NHL. In the playoffs, starting in place of veteran Marc-Andre Fleury (who was suffering from a concussion), Murray is 5-1. He has given up three or fewer goals in four of his six playoff starts. His goals-against average in the postseason is 1.78 and his save percentage is .944. Monday, against the offensively powerful Caps, Murray kicked out 14 shots in each of the first two periods and 19 in the third. Fleury actually was in uniform Monday for the first time since sustaining his second concussion of the season March 31 against the Nashville Predators. Murray is 8-1-0 in 10 starts since Fleury was injured. Don't expect the Pens to tamper with success. Look for Murray to be back in net for Game 4 Wednesday night, with Fleury on the bench backing up.
May 2 - 11:44 PM

Marc-Andre Fleury will dress as the Penguins' backup goalie in Monday's game against Washington.

It's a significant step in Fleury's recovery from a concussion. The 31-year-old has been out of the lineup since April 2. It'll be interesting to see what the Penguins do if Matt Murray keeps winning games.

Connor McDavid has been named a finalist for the Calder Trophy.

McDavid missed a good chunk of the year because of a clavicle injury, but he still managed to post an impressive 16 goals and 48 points in 45 games. The 19-year-old may not have put up the highest amount of points for rookies in 2015-16, but his point-per-game pace will surely put him in contention for the award.
