Jonathan Quick participated in Sunday's morning skate and he's making some progress in his recovery from a groin injury.

"I haven't been experiencing the soreness nearly as much as I was, say, a week ago," he said. "Like you said, it is practice, and you know what the drill is, and you know what you have to do each play, so it's not a situation where you're completely in reaction mode and don't know what's going to happen. Quite frankly, I could do these drills for another two months and you could feel a hundred percent, and it's still not the same as playing in games." It doesn't appear as though he will be able to join the team after Christmas on their road trip and there's still no definite timetable for his return.

Andrew Ladd has signed a seven-year/$38.5 million deal with the New York Islanders.

A big deal for Ladd who was dealt from the Jets to the Blackhawks on trade deadline day. He will take his spot on a line with John Tavares and should be able to hit the 70 point mark and maybe better this season.
Jul 1 - 12:07 PM

Loui Eriksson has agreed to a six-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks.

Eriksson recorded 30 goals and 63 points in 82 games with Boston last season. He could be a great fit alongside the Sedin twins.
Jul 1 - 12:07 PM

The Chicago Blackhawks will reportedly sign Brian Campbell to a one-year deal.

Nothing can be made official until noon ET at the earliest. Campbell signing with Chicago wouldn't be surprising at this point as we've been hearing reports pointing to that outcome for more than a week now. As has been previously stated though, Campbell will need to agree to a discount to make this work from a cap perspective. His deal with them will reportedly be in the $2 million range, which is great value for Chicago is it's true.
Jul 1 - 11:41 AM

The Buffalo Sabres will reportedly sign Kyle Okposo.

Such an agreement can't be official until noon ET, so we'll have to wait a little longer to find out of this signing will actually happen. It will be a nice boost for the Sabres if it's true, especially given the top-six talent they're already compiling. Okposo had 22 goals and 64 points in 79 games last season.
Jul 1 - 11:36 AM

Aaron Ekblad has reportedly agreed to a eight-year, $60 million contract extension.

There was a previous report that the Panthers were expected to present Ekblad with that offer and it's not surprising that he would take it. That being said he's not eligible to re-sign with Florida until noon ET on Friday, so it will be a little more than an hour before there's a chance to get confirmation of this agreement.

The Detroit Red Wings have re-signed Darren Helm to a five-year, $19.25 million contract.

That's a lot of money for a bottom-six forward, but it might be less than what Helm could have gotten elsewhere. While he's not a significant contributor offensively, he's an asset defensively and in particular when it comes to killing penalties.
Jul 1 - 10:18 AM

The Carolina Hurricanes have bought out James Wisniewski.

Wisniewski's tenure with the Hurricanes' was just one game in length due to a torn ACL. By buying out his contract, Carolina will add $2 million in cap space for the 2016-17 campaign, but they'll have an extra $1 million against the cap in 2017-18. In the meantime, keep in mind that Wisniewski is still just 32 years old and recorded 51 points as recently as 2013-14. A comeback campaign is not out of the question under the right circumstances.
Jun 30 - 5:21 PM

Tom Wilson has inked a two-year, $4 million contract with the Washington Capitals.

Wilson is primarily known as an enforcer, but he does contribute a bit offensively and hopes to grow in that regard. He had seven goals, 23 points, and 163 penalty minutes in 82 contests in 2015-16. He also averaged 12:55 minutes per game, up from 10:56 minutes as a sophomore and 7:56 minutes as a rookie. He's never going to be a top line player, but the 22-year-old is someone that the Capitals has valued for a while now and is showing signs of growth, so while his cap hit might be high compared to his past role, it's not terribly surprising that he got that kind of a deal.
Jun 30 - 4:17 PM

The Boston Bruins have signed Torey Krug to a four-year, $21 million contract.

Krug was about to become a restricted free agent with arbitration rights. He was coming off of a $3.4 million deal for 2015-16. After he recorded between 39 and 44 points in each of his last three seasons, this seems like a solid deal for Krug.
Jun 30 - 2:41 PM

Dennis Seidenberg has been placed on waivers for the purpose of being bought out.

Seidenberg had a full no-trade clause and wanted to remain with the Bruins, but it seems they had other plans. The 34-year-old defenseman had a goal and 12 points in 61 games last season. He still might bounce back, so he could be a good value pickup for another club. From a cap perspective, Boston will save about $2.8 million in 2016-17 and $1.8 million in 2017-18, but they'll have a penalty of about $1.2 million in each of the two seasons that follow.
Jun 30 - 12:49 PM

Steven Stamkos has reportedly decided to stay with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

That will put an end to the Stamkos' sweepstakes that were scheduled for July 1. He will apparently agree to an eight-year, $68 million deal with the Lightning and avoid free agency. He recorded 36 goals and 64 points in 77 games last season and had just about every team ready to welcome him with open arms.
