When the Senators play the Coyotes Saturday afternoon it will be the first time in 31 years that a double pair of brothers will play against each other in the same NHL game.

Mark Stone and Milan Michalek of the Senators will face off against their respective brothers, Mark and Zbynek of the Coyotes Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm ET. The last time it happened was in 1983 when Wayne Babych and Joe Mullen of the St. Louis Blues faced Dave Babych and Brian Mullen of the first Winnipeg Jets. What is even more ironic is that the Sens' Michalek and Stone will play on the same line. Unfortunately the Coyotes' Stone and Michalek are defensemen who aren't in the same pairing. That would have been even cooler.

Nathan Horton (back) showed up at practice on Thursday.

Horton has not played this season as he has degenerative back woes and while it was thought he may need possible career-ending surgery, Horton has been improving by doing some light exercises. "It seems like things have been healing since he’s taken some time off," GM Jarmo Kekalainen said. "I’m the eternal optimist. Our focus the whole time has been to give it proper time to heal and, when the pain subsides, get into some workouts. I’ve been hopeful all the time, and I still am." Horton met with the Columbus higher ups on Thursday and team president John Davidson said that Horton had "little light in his eye" when they had lunch together with Kekalainen. Stay tuned.

Jonas Hiller will start again on Saturday for the Calgary Flames.

The Flames take on the Edmonton Oilers and Hiller is 15-4-1 in his career against the Flames neighbors to the North although most wins were when Hiller was with Anaheim. "Hills is giving us a chance to win," said coach Bob Hartley. "(Thursday’s 1-0 loss to Minnesota), I thought that was the best goaltending battle we’ve seen all year. The two goalies were really sharp. They had perfect rebound control. (Devan) Dubnyk played a hell of a game. We couldn’t get one by him." Start him if you normally would.
Jan 31 - 7:19 AM

Jarome Iginla scored a goal to record his 1200th career point on Friday night, tying him with Dino Ciccarelli for 46th place all-time.

It was a beauty of a goal, too. Iginla worked to get himself in position to received Matt Duchene's feed to one-time it in from the slot, making it 2-0 early on in the third. The Avalanche would go on to beat the Predators 3-0. Iginla leads the team in goals with 16, and is second in points with 33. Among active players, only Joe Thornton (1233) and Jaromir Jagr (1780) have more career points than Iggy.
Jan 31 - 12:48 AM

David Backes scored a goal in Friday's 3-2 shootout win over Carolina.

The 30-year-old forward has now extended his point-streak to nine games and he has collected at least a point in 11 of his last 12 games. Backes' first period goal gave the Blues a 2-0 lead in the game, but the Hurricanes were able to tie it up and force a shootout. Backes has 17 goals and 35 points in 47 games this season. Ryan Reaves also scored in regulation for the Blues, while Kevin Shattenkirk scored the shootout winner.
Jan 30 - 10:09 PM

Cory Schneider made 41 saves in New Jersey's 2-1 overtime loss to Pittsburgh.

Schneider is the only reason the Devils were able to collect a point tonight. Pittsburgh outshot New Jersey 43-14, but it was Devils' forward Steve Bernier who opened the scoring in the third period. Schneider came up with several big saves throughout the game, but Chris Kunitz eventually beat him with a power play goal late in the third period. The 28-year-old goaltender was also beat by Pittsburgh's third shot in overtime. Schneider has just one regulation loss in his last seven games (5-1-1). He has a 17-19-5 record with a 2.36 goals-against-average and a .922 save percentage.
Jan 30 - 10:03 PM

Simon Despres scored the overtime-winner in Pittsburgh's 2-1 win over New Jersey on Friday night.

Devils' goaltender Cory Schneider shut the door on the Penguins for most of the night, but Chris Kunitz was able to beat him with under four minutes remaining to tie the game at 1-1. The goal was Despres' first since November 6th, and just his second of the year. The 23-year-old has 13 points in 46 games this season. Kris Letang assisted on both of Pittsburgh's goals in the game.
Jan 30 - 9:47 PM

Christian Ehrhoff has returned to Pittsburgh to be tested for a possible concussion.

Ehrhoff will obviously miss Friday's game in New Jersey. Look for Scott Harrington to dress as a result. Ehrhoff has three goals and 13 points in 43 games in 2014-15.
Jan 30 - 12:54 PM

Ryan Murray (knee) has been activated off of the injured reserve list.

Murray should make his return on Saturday. He's only played in four games this season and his last contest was on Nov. 1. With that in mind, we recommend tempering your short-term expectations for Murray. Columbus assigned Josh Anderson to the minor to free up a roster spot. Murray's return might also push Dalton Prout out of the lineup.
Jan 30 - 12:24 PM

Craig Anderson (hand) has been placed on the injured reserve list.

The severity of Anderson's injury isn't clear yet. Ottawa's upcoming games are spread out, so while he's gone, Robin Lehner might get all of the Senators' starts.
Jan 30 - 12:20 PM

Jori Lehtera is dealing with an upper-body injury.

Lehtera was hurt during Thursday's contest and won't play on Friday as a result. He has nine goals and 30 points in 46 games in 2014-15. Paul Stastny might end up taking Lehtera's spot on a line with Vladimir Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz.
