Drew Shore has been summoned from the minors by Florida.

The Panthers lost Scottie Upshall to an upper-body injury prior to the Christmas break, so Shore is joining the team to take his place. Shore played two games for Florida in early October prior to being shipped to the minors. The team wanted him to get used to playing right wing in the AHL, where he recorded 15 assists in 28 games with San Antonio.

Tyler Seguin (Achilles) skated on Monday morning.

Coach Lindy Ruff said that Seguin is not expected to travel with the team when they leave for St. Louis, but the door is open for him to join them depending on how he feels. The Stars play in St. Louis for Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Thursday night, respectively.

Antti Raanta has inked a contract extension with the New York Rangers.

He could have become an unrestricted free agent in July, but wanted to be back with the Rangers. Terms of the deal haven't been disclosed yet.

Marc-Andre Fleury (concussion) faced shots during the morning skate on Monday.

Coach Mike Sullivan said that Fleury is "making significant progress." He remains day-to-day with a concussion, so Matt Murray is expected to start in Game 3 versus Washington.

Olli Maatta (upper body) won't play in Game 3 on Monday night against Washington.

Coach Mike Sullivan has confirmed that Maatta will sit after he sustained an upper-body injury on Saturday from a high hit from Brooks Orpik. It would've been surprising if he was able to play. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Joe Pavelski scored a goal and two assists in San Jose's 3-2 win over Nashville in Game 2.

The Sharks become the only team to jump out to a 2-0 series lead in the second round. Pavelski picked up the primary assist on Logan Couture's second period goal before notching the go-ahead goal late in the third period. He also helped set up Joe Thornton's empty net goal just a few moments later. Pavelski has six goals and 10 points in seven games this postseason. The series will now move to Nashville for Games 3 and 4. Game 3 will be played on Tuesday night.
May 1 - 11:13 PM

Brooks Orpik has been suspended three games for his hit (interference) on Olli Maatta on Saturday night in Game 2.

That is statement from the NHL, but it was an ugly play. Orpik drilled Maatta with a late, high hit at 4:13 of the first period. Maatta seemed woozy, and is more than likely out for Game 3, if not the rest of the series because of a concussion (though the exact injury hasn’t been announced). With the second-round series with the Penguins 1-1, there is a chance that Orpik’s season is over.

The Blues and Stars will head to St. Louis with their best of-seven series tied 1-1.

The award is given to the player who "best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey." At 44-year-old years old, Jagr has definitely shown dedication to the game. The Panthers forward has worked hard to stay in great game shape and it showed with his performance on the ice. Jagr had 27 goals and 66 points in 79 games in 2015-16. Pascal Dupuis (Penguins) and Mats Zuccarello (Rangers) are the other two finalists for the award.

Brooks Orpik will have a hearing for his hit on Olli Maatta in Game 2.

Orpik nailed Maatta with a high-hit that was also very late. Orpik's shoulder hit Maatta right in the head. Maatta was slow to get up and took his time leaving the ice. Orpik was given a two-minute penalty for interference on the play. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Department of Player Safety suspend Orpik for a game or two. The Capitals and Penguins are tied 1-1 heading into Game 3 on Monday night.
